Robbo - 5 - didnt really make any saves and let in 2
Chimbo - 7 - got forward well whils also playing well at cb
Lee - 5 - very quite, pretty poor
Dawson - 6 - still looks shaky
Bale - 8 - Got forward very well and still looks brilliant in the tackle

Zoko - 7 - Shit first half but very very good second half, looked like tha player we thought we had signed.
Jenas - 6 - I think being subbed at half time sums this one up
Steed - 7 - Wastefull at times, should of had 2
Lennon - 7 - Still cant cross, looked dangerous at times, not his best.

Berbs - 7 - Should be a 6 but did well for his goal
Keane - 6 - Very quite

Hudd - 8 - Did very very well when he came on, changed the game
Bent - 6 - Scored 1 but still looks poor
Prince - 2 - Did anyone else see that shot???? Fuck me what a pleb!!!!

Shouldn't knock another's opinion...but did you, er, watch the game?

Robbo 6.5 No chance with either goal, did whatever else he had to very well

Bale 7.5 Not quite back to his best, but even at 90% he is excellent. Got forward and tracked back, looked stronger defensively than he has at times before

Chimbo 6.5 Not a fan, was sloppy at times but improved after the break

Dawson 6.5 Shaky throughout but improved second half. I would have Rocha in a shot when he is fit

Lee 2 Never seen him play so poorly, dreadful at right back

Lennon 6.5 Worked hard and eventually got some reward in the second half. Needs to be more assertive. Final ball was better.

Jenas 7 Very good and worked hard. He has really imporved under Ramos.

Zokora 7 Useless first half, again, immense second half. Needs to start games in a deeper position.

Steed 7.5 My player of the season so far, unsung hero that works his balls off EVERY match. Other than being wasteful in front of goal he is making himself very hard to drop

Keano 6 Having one of his little spells when he just runs around alot and not much happens. Worked hard but just not his day. Still had a hand in a goal though.

Berbo 7 Looking better but is still low on confidence. Played well in a deeper position but that almost psychic ability he has to beat players is still not quite tuned in.

Subs.

Bent 7.5 Looked a constant threat, won alot in the air and made some great runs. Scored and created chances. He is starting to look like a good buy. He is the type of player that defenders hate.

KPB 6.5 Played well, used the ball well and helped shore up the midfield. Good to see him shooting at goal. I would like to see more of him and JJ in the middle

Hudd 7.5 Looked class and a stone lighter. Still not convinced he can defend but showed what he can do.

Ramos 9 I would have gone with Salty at right back myself but I think he wants to play both Bale and Steed and this was the best way to do it. He has that certain something about him, dare I make comparisons with the special one? Made the changes and won the game. This man has balls and brains and makes the luck that goes with them.

Man of the match.

Juande, top notch.

great comeback by the Spurs, but against better oppostion we would have been dead and buried by half time - the January window can not come soon enough!!

Anyway

Robinson - 7
Lee - 6
Bale - 8 This boy looks the business for a teenaager
Dawson - 7 - although first half he looked shocking
Chimbonda - 7 see above
Jenas - 7 - did ok before getting injured
Lennon 5 - now needs to step up and prove he can do it.
Zakora 7- like Dawson, but thought he was excellent 2nd half
Steed -7 - gets goals from midfield
Keane - 6 - quite tonight and needs to stop falling over!
Berbatov - 7 - quality act but he's off surely?

Bent - 7 - did well and got a goal
KP - 6 - needs to calm down but never a booking
Thud - his best game for a long time - 8

Steed -

Your Very optimistic! (but please dont listen to all the rubbish the papers say! he said he was staying (this time he did) so if he leaves I would be very dissapointed in him for I trust the players word and their word alone)

If you had seen the first fifteen minutes you might have wanted to lower your ratings a little. But they are still about the most sensible so far (if a little generous to the subs). In the first half we were outplayed - outplayed, not outfought - by a team that cost £100K.

Ballsy of Ramos to switch it around as he did, but it was basicallly the same tactical switch he pulled against West Ham. It is trick that opposing managers are going to get wise to and lay plans against.

It is only the same trick because he only has the same options. Had we had a fit cb chimbo would have been at right back and Lee would not have played anyway. The shape changes are being forced by the state of the back 4.

He has tried it twice, doesn't mean he doesn't have other ideas or adapt his formation to the opposition play in other ways. I think changing to the 3-5-2 is more out of lack of decent available defenders than being his only trick. Why don't we just give it a chance?

Ramos 10 - fantastic tactical substitutions again, oh how we wish jol could've done this back in the day

I also have to mention Poyet, he is a legend on the touchline and no silly note writing either!

Funnily, I was reminded of our home game against Sevilla last season, when the half-time changes pulled us level on the night and might, with a smidgeon of good fortune, have won us the game.

Make no mistake, I'm impressed with what Juande's achieved so far, but he has exactly the same problems that Martin had to contend with, and we are still looking hideously vulnerable at the back—not through poor organisation, but through sheer brainlessness. Aalborg's first goal was a perfect example of this. We didn't deal with the throw-in, Lennon dithered, Zokora was playing statues, Dawson remained rooted to the spot instead of charging in and also turned away instead of taking the hurt. I'm only amazed that one of our resident goalkeeping 'experts' hasn't pointed out that Robbo was entirely at fault.

Robbo - 6 Didn't do much tonight. Wasn't really at fault for the goals, a fine claim at the end.

Lee - 5 Poor to average, rarely got forward.
Dawson 1st half - 3 Shocking
Dawson 2nd half - 6 Much better but didn't inspire much confidence
Chimbo 1st half - 4 Is not a centre back
Chimbo 2nd half - 7 Looked much better on the right side of defence, even of a three.
Bale 1st half - 6 Done OK. The boy can tackle.
Bale 2nd half - 7 Some good crosses, more of the same really though slightly more effective.

Lennon - 7 OK. Looked dangerous but needs to take the full back on more IMO. His crossing's improving!! Faded a bit at the end; We need another player to take the burden off him.
Jenas - 6 OK first half in a dismal team performance. Worked hard. Was probably our best player in the first 45.
Zokora 1st half - 3. Rubbish. Same old. Clumsy with the ball, and our MF seemed empty.
Zokora 2nd half - 7 Brilliant. Seems to relish the makeshift CB role!! Looks more composed than any of our other CBs.
Steed - 6 Poor for me, by his standards. Not much came off for him, although he took his goal well and did battle hard. He's not a winger. Should have utilised Bale more often.

Berbatov 1st half - 3. Rubbish. Nothing came off for him.
Berbatov 2nd half - 6. Better. Couple of nice touches but over all, nothing special. He should be running this kind of games.
Keane - 4. Rubbish. Have him and Berba had a row??! They seemed to completely lose their understanding.

Huddlestone - 7 Changed the game. Passing was immense. Made a few tackles, but still looked "lazy" at times.
Bent - 6 Done OK. Typical poacher's goal. Is miles from his best still, though produced some real class at the end to set up Steed.
KPB - 6 Got stuck in. Would like to see more.

Ramos - 8 His changes turned it around. Glad he done it at half time too, rather than giving it till 60/70 mins.

Thanks for the post because the ratings and the comments are almost identical to my own thoughts on the game,I agree 100% great post!

These ratings threads crack me up. A couple of people post their true opinions, then other people rip them apart, then more people post with ratings that more suit the mood of those who criticised. The comments slowly wear them down till everone's vaguely posting the same thing.

My 10 cents: Bale had a very good game and our only real threat both halves, Jenas was good first half, no one else really deserved any credit first half. Second half after kick up the backside we of course looked much better but no one completely made me forget the travesty of the first half.

Final point: the officiating was some of the worst I've seen. Terrible offside decisions against both sides, The Prince's tackle was NEVER a foul, let alone a booking, and some questionable stuff all round.

Didn't see much of the game, but it sounds to me like Zokora should be a CB, at least for now, and that Huddlestone had another great game against a crap team.

Thoughts? Also, I think this has been discussed before, but why is Lee so reliable at LB and such crap at RB?

Again, this should probably be done by halves. First 45 I've rarely seen a player less interested, he was horrendous. Came out second half, looked a different player, but only played for about 20 minutes before being subbed. Guess its subjective

yep GP it's all about opinions - and I'm sticking to mine -

In the first half Ramos got it all wrong - particularly with his horrendous back 4 selection

I don't blame Berbs for that - of course he could have done better - but so could a lot of players - but when a striker score one makes one in what 70/75 mins and is a key part of winning one of the true glory Euro games at the Lane - I'm giving him 7/8 no danger.

Fair point, but really think there's no glory in scraping a one-goal win at home over a team of fairly average quality. They're hard workers, but not a great team. We put ourselves in a position to achieve 'glory'. I know it's not the Tottenham way, but do you think we'll perhaps one day just be able to see a team off efficiently?

Again it's all about opinions GP :) - for me it was a glory night -

I remember our first Euro game in 62 against gornik (who I dare say would have been deemed average by some) we were 4-0 down before we woke up - won 10-5 in the end on one of the greatest glory nights ever

I also remember a few weeks ago when I said beatin Hapoel was a very good result and a good performance that some said they were a pub team. Now they've beaten a team who just beat another 'pub team' Barcelona

Some see glory and goodness, some don't

I've been supporting spurs nearly 50 years and I love to see us win and i see glory often where others don't - it's perspective and opinions :)

Jesus we are awful at defending. At 2-0 down it's caution to the wind time I guess, but under the circumstances it's hard to gage just how much of a genius Ramos is. I need to watch a recording of this game to really weigh it all up. They scored as I emerged onto the south upper, all I saw was a shot ripping into the top corner. Don't know whose fault it was. We huffed and puffed the rest of the first half and put in some crosses that the strikers got no-where near. Then we went gung ho 2nd half, got the early breakthrough and could have ended up with 6. I thought the story of this game was not just about how we played 2nd half but how they did. I thought Aalborg were bloody impressive first half, defending well and passing crisply. 2nd half having conceded the early goal they seem to wobble and we smelt fear. ba bing ba bing - ba bang ba bang and 45 mins later we are all going home warmed to the cockles with smiley faces. Ratings:

Robinson 6.5 - Seemed to do OK (need to see their goals though). Actaully caught a cross. But didn't have heaps to do.

Lee 6 - Not great tonight

Chimbonda 6 - Hhhmm. What the fuck was that stupid backheel about.

Dawson 6.5 - Seems to make coping with the smallest pressure a herculian labour.

Bale 7 - worries me a bit defensively but played pretty well tonight.

Lennon 7 - Lively.

Jenas 7 - A great run. worked hard when on.

Zokora 7 - worked hard

Malbranque 7 - was busy. Should have scored a second.

Berbatov 7 - needs to get himself in the game more (like to see him drop a bit deeper at times) but took his chance really well and made one with determination.

Keane 4 - Anonymous faggot. If I see him "pretend" to challenge for one more ball I'm going to personally run on the fucking pitch and kick his gaylord fucking arse. Great goalscorer but lacking in bollocks of any discription.

Bent 8 - Didn't want us to sign him, and until tonight all I've seen is vindication. But tonight the fella was good. Worked his nuts off and played well.

Huddlestone 7.5 - One really sweet pass for the goal and in general did well.

Footnote:

The first half our attackers were shit. They spent most of the half standing 3 yards from each other in the "D". Ramos needs to stress the importance to Berbatov of dropping out and holding and linking play. I know many of you will point to Keanes recent goal haul but he's really fucking me off. We carry him most of the game. He wanders about like a fucking girl evading contact with the opposition. After tonights performance I would really like to see Berbatov and Bent tried together on saturday. Berbatov dropping and holding with Bent making moves. We will have two strikers that are ariely good, and at least one striker that might graft and not be scared of the opposition.

I almost forgot. Salute to the Aalborg fans. They came to enjoy themselves, they made plenty of noise and their rendition of "your shit and you know you are" actually cracked me up.
