I see your point, however. The reason the ball goes dead after the kick in a shoot-out, is because the game has ended. In situations like yesterday, the game is still ongoing, so, just like with a throwing, corner or freekick, as soon as the ball is struck, it's on the field of play and is fair game for everyone.
Good point, the taking of the penalty is effectively the restarting of the game after the foul.

This is what gets me the most, the uproar about encroachment on a penalty which was a fucking dive. Did they say it was a dive?

No, all they said was "soft" or that he went down from minimal contact.

You're right but that doesn't have to be the case. They could just make it so the game stops before the penalty and then restarts with either a goal kick if saved/missed or a kick off if scored. It involves a bit if rule changing but it simplifies an issue.

Not sure if this has been posted. JJ showing he is Spurs through and through. Great reactions from those guys, BT Sport is 10x better than SS. I’d be quite happy if they broadcast all of the football.

Due to commitments I have only just got around to watching the game.

My thoughts are that the performance in general isn't too much to worry about but somethings I noticed that are hurting us currently.

- Lack of quality when it comes to the decisive pass. We actually worked the ball well at times but the final pass that puts us into a really key position is either under hit or over hit. Once we get that right we should see more chances created.

- Certain players not shooting when they should do. Kane's being a prime example. This is purely down to confidence and down to not being in 'the groove'. Kane on top of his game would have hit that others too.

- Silly mistakes, we are allowing balls to bounce, turning into dangerous areas and just making it much easier for the opposition to score.

Although none of this groundbreaking I do think some of the concerns about fitness etc are maybe being over exaggerated because I think the truth is simply that players are not playing with the sharpness that confidence brings. Basically they're not doing stuff on instinct.

Yeah we need all refs to stop time wasting!! Does that include us taking the ball to the corner in the last minutes of games when we are winning or just when it happens to us?
I don't like that either - whether it's us doing it or anybody else - but the ball is in play and it's up to the other team to stop it. I was referring to taking two minutes to take a throw-in or goal kick. It's within the refs' authority to show cards for it and to stop it but they choose not to.

And by the way: nobody likes a smart-arse.

Agree with most of this. One thing I struggle to understand though, is how a team coming out of a series of strong results and the fantastic Dortmund game in particular, all of a sudden loose confidence like this!? Sure, performances have been scrappy here and there and maybe we’ve had it coming to an extend, but I still find it hard to believe a team of our level can collectively drop in concentration and confindence like we have lately

League form can sometimes be a separate feeling too cup competitions. How many teams have been battling relegation or having problems in the league only to get to the final of a cup? There wasn't any pressure to beat Dortmund whereas we know losing to Chelsea and Arsenal could have huge consequences. I think one positive performance and result will change everything and get us back on track.

The break did us no good at all. It disturbed our rhythm more than helped us. Also, Kane coming back disturbed the rhythm we had established without him. With him in the team, sometimes I feel the other players just think 'Harry will score, get the ball to him" and don't go for goal themselves, whereas without him they all had to fight for goals. Also, of course, they play a different role with Harry in the team and don't create the chances for themselves in the same way. Son is a prime example.

I can’t beleive they are still going on about the penalty and Kane.

The first pen we gat at home for over two years and they just won’t let us have it will they? Goodness knows how long it will be until we get another one with this fuss.

Or winning any second balls

Chatting with office gooner, they acknowledge Aubamanamanamang's pen being soft, and that Xhaka was lucky not to walk. Felt the ref was too soft.

Somehow Rose should've been sent off too apparently... I nodded in that way you do when you're mystified but don't want to say anything about it.

Unfortunately Poch’s post match blast at Dean seems to have rallied the refs union against us rather than giving us fairer officiating. I suspect a lot of others look up to him as he’s the template for making matches all about him and a route to minor celebrity.

I never said or implied that anywhere. You should try responding to what's written instead of 'always bringing this up' when it's not relevant.
