Nothing much, just good stick going between home and away fans for 90 minutes, as nobody really gave a shit about the match. And because it was empty, you could actually hear the shit everyone was saying to each other across the barrier. All "in the moment" stuff that was a great laugh last night but probably needed to be there to find most of it funny I'm sure, so won't try to give examples haha.
don't be afraid to try

I don't know why Sissoko is getting stick for this match. He was fairly average in the first half but in the second he actually looked like the only player getting his head up and trying to run at the Barnsley defenders. Albeit we didn't score from any of his runs but he played alright. Got to give the good with the bad

I think it's a combination of things. We always have started slow under Poch. Not surprising it's happened again. The atmosphere is also shit at Wembley. It's almost like we have to play 38 away matches in the league this year. I'm also sure part of it is mental. Players have to start to wonder after the 80th minute or so against a team like Swansea if there is something to this "curse" thing. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. I think most of this stuff will get ironed out and we'll look more like ourselves around about December though. I only hope we can get through this and make the CL knockout stages by the time we turn it on this year.

Not true. Last season we got 17 points from our first 7 games. That's 17 out of a possible 21. That's not slow.

Don't know if anyone on here was in the group sitting in Block 112 last night, right by the away fans? Iif there are, I hope you all had as much of a laugh as I did! :ROFLMAO: Easily the most fun I've had at Spurs in ages. Barnsley are a strange bunch though.
Barnsley is a strange place...

It's a bit yes and no for me. Last year we started strongly in terms of results initially but started quite slowly performance-wise.. Performances were very sluggish until about Xmas and eventually results tailed off - indeed I think our season was at one point in danger of being completely derailed, I think of 'what if' for the 2-1/3-2 game against West Ham for instance when we really were struggling for a win.. That spell in about October last year is reminiscent to the recent games, lots of the ball but looking lethargic and toothless in the final third, and most of our attacking players didn't really find their groove until December - and then subsequently stormed the second half of the campaign.

I think you're right in that respect. I seem to recall that Eriksen started the season very slowly and, as we know, HK the season starts slowly and he then got injured and was out for a month or so in October / November. It would be nice if we could, for once, get a quick start to the season in terms of results AND form!

I think he is referring to the pace of the performance, not how quickly we got the points

I agree. It was late October and through November that we dropped a lot of points. After that we were awesome but could not make up those lost points. The one silver lining is that our away form was poor for the first half of the season so if we keep winning away we are still in with a shout to challenge last years points total

It's two more games before the semi finals. 180 minutes of football. Can we seriously not just play virtually the first team in the potential next two games. If was a semi final we're always going to take that seriously and it's only two games until that stage.
Boggles my mind how fans can't see the importance of starting to win things with this group, win anything to get it started. 3 cups in 26 years and it's made out it doesn't really matter.

Fans are becoming lost in this "we could win the league with this group of players" rhetoric and forgetting the bread and butter. All big clubs always win things big or small.

I'm bored to death of seasons of shit or what could have beens, yes it's not a league or even an FA cup but it would still be a memory (hopefully start of many under Poch) that in the future we can look back on and think of like I do with the wins against Forest, Leicester and Chelsea.

How did Foyth and Llorente look?
Llorente does not look match fit so this game time is needed for him.
Foyth looks like a really good player. He was cool, calm, very good on the ball and in the second half especially was able to turn defence into attack. Foyth made the odd mistake but this was the perfect game to blood him in. The lad looks like a Spurs centre half through and through

Sissoko and Foyth played well and that's all I can remember of last night.

Oh and loads of bar staff with not much to do.

Don't get your hate toward Sissoko, he was better than winks or Dembele tonight. Played very decent.

Wanted more from Winksy, very safe tonight.
Not sure what game you watched. Dembele was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch. Dele and Son with him tried to make things happen and as a team we did try making more runs and more quick passing movements around their box than against Swansea. Have to admit though Barnsley at least tried to make a game of it unlike Swansea who just did not even pretend do aim for anything other than nil nil

Needs to take it easy - he ran it out of play twice within about 10 minutes of coming on yesterday. But I do agree he could give us something we don't have.

That's because he tried to get to the byline and cross the ball, somthing which no one else in our team tried. I keep hearing how great Trippier crosses the ball but his delivery was pathetic. Yes I know he laid in the goal but no surprising it was the only time I remember him getting to the byline and crossing the ball. All the time we were putting balls in with our players having their backs to the goal; this makes it so much easier to defend against us

You know what game I watched, take a proper dig, don't be sly.

Dembele was very passive, did what he had to, covered the centre backs in particular foyth on couple of ventures forward.

No way was he 'head and shoulders' above everyone else. Sissoko do more and was way more proactive.
