I know there is no reason for me to be angry, we beat those assholes 5-3 after all. But I can't get over the fact that 2 of their goals were total bullshit calls from the ref. Diego Costa was OBVIOUSLY offside and interfering with play when Hazard took the shot that hit the post, Costa even tries to get a foot on it. Their 3rd goal was also bullshit or at least the freekick that resulted in the goal, how that was a foul I'll never understand. Add to that the fact that Cahill should have been sent off twise, once for the tackle on Rose when he scored and also for kicking and stamping on Kane just before our 5th (or 4th?) goal.

Mourinho can fuck off, if anyone should be mad at the refs after yesterdays game it should be us. Thankfully we stuffed them with 5 goals so I'll get over it. :p

Rose's goal..........if he had missed putting in the rebound, would he have won a penalty for the very late challenge? I saw it on MOTD last night and I thought it warranted a yellow at least...don't know who the defender was but Rose was completely upended by the challenge. Anyone any thoughts on this?

If Lamela had been fit would he have started the game? I think that our attacking play has improved vastly since Townsend came in for the Newcastle game and having him and Chadli gives us pace on both flanks and players who are prepared to go on the outside as well as cutting in. Lamela, good player that he may be, either refuses or is pretty much unable to go on the outside if he is on the right wing (where he likes to play) and then we lose the pace and attacking impetus.

Townsend's pace gives us something extra.

He spends his downtime in the town I live in, his fitness trainer is here. Often see him around but never got to chatting properly till last night. They walked into the pub we were at & sat at a table next to us & we just started chatting. Broke the ice by asking what he thought the score would be & said 5-0 Spurs!

5-0? Could never handle his drink!

Would've been a stone wall penalty. How Cahill didn't get a yellow for it is amazing

MOTD was shocking. About 16 shots on target, between the two teams, and they showed absolutely nothing of the game other than the goals and - of course - Chelscum's penalty claim. Sat down to watch it, indeed taped it for my boy to watch today, and - tbh - don't know if I will bother; it lasted about 8mins or so. You can bet if it was Arsenal 5 - 3 Chelscum, it would've taken up half the bloody programme.
The BBC can only show a maximum of 7 or 8 minutes per game. The actual 'expert' analysis between games is longer. I think that's the deal they get for showing highlights. I've just watched the full game online, streamed onto my TV. Far better than MOD!

A rather lovely SC-er sent me a link to the whole match as well - I'm gonna finish this bit of work (not this post, of course - this is 'fun', not work at all!!) and then sit back and wallow in the whole bloody loveliness of the whole game.

Before the game I listened to the most recent Fighting Cock podcast and they raised a point that I was worried about.

"we will be ok Bentaleb, will keep Hazard quiet, which leaves.... Fabregas, er maybe Mason can keep him quiet then will we be ok. Oh shit then there is Willian, Oscar, Costa, Matic,........ queue hysterical laughter at the mere thought of keeping them all quiet.

Then we actually go and do it bar Hazard who is different class. Fabregas was ineffective, Oscar and ~Willian were spectators, and apart from his goal so was Costa.

What showed up was how much stronger we were physically than a Mourinho side, something unheard of. They didn't fancy the 50/50 challenges and went down hoping for a refs whistle.

He did not get sanctioned for it because referees in general, do not bother with it when a goal is scored. I'm not saying that it did not warrant at least a yellow but that's the trend. Cahill should have walked later on for the ferocious savage like behaveior on Kane later on.

I'd like this link also!

Interesting to note the Spurs TV highlights cut out Jan's 'handball' and Fazio winning the ball off Hazard.

Really?
Avb changed the team every game so yes I wasn't impressed.
Worked out well didnt it.
I suppose you and numb nuts had Rose and Walker as first name on the team sheet after their impressive display at Leicester.
No, you just keep quiet.
Maureen is hardly making any changes but what does he know.
And I wouldn't put the same 11 out against eg Leicester at home as I would Chelsea away so thats bollox but thanks for speaking up for me. :finger:

Look, this argument about you're hatred of AVb ended months ago. You complained about 90% of the starting lineups he put out and it got old considering we got a record points tally that season. I understand what you didn't like about it but I trusted the man who saw them train and had all the facts at hand before picking. I choose to trust EVERY boss with the lineups until I see the performance.

I see now you've been repeating these complaints with Poch and I think its just you to be honest. You can continue to spam my posts but at the end of the day I would expect that all the fans start to give the man the benefit of the doubt for a good few months before resorting to slating him off on a lineup before a ball has been kicked. Its called supporting the boss. You seem to turn on them quicker than most in my, admittedly, limited memory of your posts that I've read.

I don't think he did. He implied the ref got it all wrong and they should have had a pen when the ball rolled on to Verts arm and that 2-0 the game would have been over. Didn't give us any credit at all for our performance and described Kane and Chadli as good, where Hazard was brilliant. Don't get me wrong Hazard was brilliant but so were Kane and Chadli. The guy just can't put his hands up and say we played better than his team and on the day deserved it.

Mourinho implied that had they been given the Vertonghen 'Penalty!', it would have been 0-2 and game over, he said. Apart from the fact that it was never a penalty, since Vertonghen fell over and the ball hit his hand, it could never be deemed as a 'deliberate' hands-ball. then he conveniently failed to mention that their first goal should have been disallowed, for the original offside position of Costa at the initial shot by Fabregas which hit the post.

Let me clear this matter by quoting from the FIFA Laws of The Game (Law 11 - Offside)

Offside position
It is not an offence in itself to be in an offside position.
A player is in an offside position if:
• he is nearer to his opponents’ goal line than both the ball and the
second-last opponent
A player is not in an offside position if:
• he is in his own half of the field of play or
• he is level with the second-last opponent or
• he is level with the last two opponents
Offence
A player in an offside position is only penalised if, at the moment the ball
touches or is played by one of his team, he is, in the opinion of the referee,
involved in active play by:
• interfering with play or
• interfering with an opponent or
• gaining an advantage by being in that position

I have highlighted in bold the section of the Offside Law, which is pertinent to Costa's goal. Hence, Costa is actually offside on two counts :
i) • interfering with play
ii) • interfering with an opponent

End of Jose'.

I rated your post spam because it was unnecessary and it served no purpose other than to incite an arguement with me.
You think my views are 'just me'?? Well of course its just me, its my opinion. Who else could it be???
I've never said I want Poch out so not sure what your talking about there, just that I disagree with his team selection sometimes. Other times I agree and post that as well.
The football has progressively improved and is far easier on the eye than under AVB which Ive stated in other threads so your not getting a rise out of me there either.
I was under the impression the idea of this site was to give your opinion on such things.
How dull this site would be if everyone stopped and only posted positive propaganda.
You say the Avb arguement is done and then waffle on about it. You were a fan, I wasn't.
Supporting the Boss?? I'm not causing changing room disruption ffs, I live 200 miles away. I will continue to give my view on team selection on a forum designed to serve such a purpose. When Im happy with something I'll post about it and when Im disgruntled I'll post about that as well.
Hope thats ok with you. If not, tough.
Done talking to you now.
Have a nice day.
