It wasn't a great performance today by any means but if we'd have been offered 3-1 and 1-0 back to back home wins this time last Sunday I doubt whether anyone would would turn their nose up at that.

With all the injuries we have, we followed up this fantastic win against Real Madrid with 3 points, we gained 3 points on Man Utd and pull a little clearer of Arsenal. I'd take that every day of the week. As said it wasn't great on the eye but it was job done, and with a 3rd choice keeper we kept a clean sheet so let's take the positives into the International break.

On another note i was at the game today and for sure danny rose has lost a good yard of pace. Not sure if its the injury of if hes bulked too much but hes totally lost his pace and agility!? Such a shame if it stays that way because right now hes got nothing on davies.

Do you think it might be because it’s his first start for nine months? Maybe?

It was a tough game. Palace executed their game plan well, and it very nearly worked. Some of their defending was superb at times too, so full credit to them.

However, that was actually a great result for us given the circumstances. Injuries, fatigue after the heroics on Wednesday, the subdued atmosphere that comes with a12:00 KO, and facing a team content to sit back in large numbers. Sanchez, Dier, and Vertonghen were immense.

I can forgive Kane, Eriksen, Winks, and Sissoko for looking a little leggy after Wednesday, but none of them were poor. A bit patchy, but all contributed well at times.

Son and Aurier have no excuses though. Some of their decisions were pure idiocy. At least Son was able to bag a great goal, which he’s always capable of even when playing like a one-legged chicken on acid.

I felt that it was an important win. Grinding out results in those circumstances will be psychologically important.

I’d take a 1-0 win in every game from now until the end of the season... means we would win the premier league, the FA cup and the Champions league...

I find the constant ridicule Sissoko receives baffling.

He frustrates me at times because he often lacks a good first touch, decent technical ability and a bit of awareness at times.

However, he works like fuck for the team. Second half today he was getting stuck in at vital stages of the game.

He gets up and down the pitch at some rate and I actually think we're less laboured in possession when he plays as opposed to some of our other midfield pairings.

For what he lacks technically he more than compensates in other ways as described above.

And it's why it comes back to balance, because the positives he does bring affects those around him. I swear we always look like we have more space when he's driving forward with the ball.

With Wanyama out long term, and Dembele's ongoing questionable fitness I'm fucking glad we have him, and I think we'd have less points in the bag without him as well given the problems of the aforementioned two.

Zaha would be good if he had more end product. Just doesn't provide enough of it for me.

Getting a bit fed up of hearing the constant lazy and completely unjustified criticism of Sissoko. Why do people feel the need to find a scapegoat to pick on? Seems like Sissoko is the current target of choice.

He's not Alli or Eriksen, he'll never have their first touch, or get their goals or assists. But he brings much more to the team, with many different attributes, than people give him credit for.

He had a pretty good game overall today - in an overall average team performance - from the criticism on here you'd think he'd been terrible.

You've all been watching football all your lives, right? So why can't you see the abilities of this player, or do you just want a scapegoat to moan about?

Correct he had a pretty good game when all those around him struggled, therein lies the problem. Sissoko is no more a "scapegoat" than Janssen, but he won't get a look in when Lamela is back or as everyone suspects Barkley is brought in possibly during the January transfer window.

That does not mean he isn't a good player but when everyone is fit and raring to go who would you drop for him to come in. Winks, Wanyama, Dembele, Dier, Lamela, or assuming he comes to the club Barkley?

Just name me one?

I'll wait.

As I (and others) have said above, when everyone is fit he's not in the first XI, no argument there.

However what I don't get is the constant blind criticism of him as terrible - he clearly isn't.

When he's in the team he offers something different to our other midfielders - he's very useful to have in our squad as a back-up, or to offer an alternative way of playing.

Is it just me or does anyone else just dislike rose and want to see Davies in there .. :/

I would think you will definitely be in a minority.

They are both excellent left backs and we will need them both. Considering this was Rose's first league start for 9 or 10 months I thought he did pretty well. Not sure I understand the hatred or dislike.

I think it's got something to with how football around the world - notably technique - has moved on since the seventies/eighties. We take it for granted that all high level players now (including many/most centre backs) automatically have good technique - first touch, control, both feet, weight and accuracy of passing etc. - and so someone like Sissoko today stands out but 'back in the day' he perhaps wouldn't have. I understand that a lot of technique is usually established by 13/14 yrs (and doesn't move on) but I'm sure some work could be done with him in this area.

I feel about Rose how I would feel about a player who is on loan with us at the moment. When he plays I want him to do well for the good of the team, but considering he will most likely be leaving us at the end of the season I don't want us to completely phase out Davies who is improving by the game and clearly wants to be here.

The rotational policy we have with our full-backs is perfect to keeping the players, manager, and fans happy IMO.

Agreed.

I didn't see much of him pre-Spurs, so I don't know if his technique was similar. I was wondering whether it might partially be a confidence thing and may improve further as the season goes on?

Also Pochettino is clearly an excellent coach in improving players, so if anyone can do it, he can.
