This was a good win after the CL game. We could have made it easier had Son finished couple of other chances as well. End of the day, we won on a day where Arsenal & United lost. We have strengthened the 3rd spot now. Another Wembley win under the belt. We will only get better, once our key players come out of their injuries.

This transition season is about being in top4 & having another solid CL campaign. Till now, we are very well on track.

Yesterday, after Wednesday and with the players missing, was always going to be about the result rather than the performance. Two of our 'title' rivals dropped points, we gained three, a good day...

Just hope we pull anyone remotely unfit from the internationals now...

Zaha would be good if he had more end product. Just doesn't provide enough of it for me.
It would help if he didn't have to do everything himself, imagine if any other crystal palace player had been up with play attacking the space when he had the open goal.
Talk about pressure, he carries the expectation of the whole team on his shoulders.

So you're saying then we'll also be fucked every other year in the futre too then? Stop. Blaming. Wembley.
Sorry, mistyped. I meant to write 'differences' not distances.

If the training ground pitches are different consistency (harder, softer, bouncier) etc to the stadium pitch, that can cause injury issues.

Obviously in the future we'd be fine, as we'd ensure our training pitches and home pitch is the same. But I highly doubt we tore up all our training pitches to match Wembley for one season.

We have exactly the same turf as Wembley on a few of our training ground pitches I heard.

Well, he should've scored that open goal, how you can blame a team mate for not being up there with him is strange. It's almost more difficult to miss than score that one and that's my problem with him. He does a lot of good stuff but it usually ends in nothing, great piece of trickery and then runs into trouble, a nice dribble on the flank and then cross is shit, gets into a good goal scoring position and shot is hopeless. He was the same at United - yes, he's more experienced now but I still see the same glaring flaws.

I agree his effectiveness would probably go up somewhat with better team mates but is that enough to justify a 30 mill pound outlay?

We were awful yesterday to be honest and did not deserve to win, with the chances they had palace surely deserved something from the match. After initially being very impressed with Aurier I am changing my mind. We should have conceded twice due to a few diabolical unforced errors not befitting a starting player in the premier league. Big improvement needed.

In any case am obviously glad we won. I thought Dier, Vertonghen and Rose all did quite well. Rose was really struggling at the end though.

I was briefly thinking about this earlier.

Sure it wasnt the best performance and I've still got real concerns about us at home against the smaller teams where our off the ball work has been pretty poor (I'm trying not to say lazy because of not following on after Wednesday's amazing result) but it was another good result before a couple of weeks off, which will give the coaches time to plan for all the games ahead and player to put their feet up if they don't have games.

Too be expected though isn't it, hopefully he gets some decent game time playing for England over the next week or so to build up match fitness.

I don't disagree but it isn't that there wasn't a teammate there it's that he knew there wouldn't be one there and so knew it was all down to him again and that adds a little bit more tension than otherwise.
He's not Christiano Ronaldo after all.
