Anyone notice how negative Jermaine Jenas was tonight? Takes me back to his playing career for us when he used to go missing or when we would bottle games and truly made me feel this is the same mentality he had on the pitch, and a mentality that was probably shared or influenced by him on the pitch and in the dressing room.

E.g. we're 1-0 up and concede a goal in the 70th minute....Jermaine's thoughts "we're gonna lose this now", we go a goal down inside 10 minutes...."we're gonna lose this now" etc etc.

I think he's a good pundit, he's definitely more intelligent than your average pundit....but tonight felt like a window into his mentality when he was a player. Nice bloke, a bit weak though.

The most influence I've seen Poch have at half time for a while.

Tactically he got it spot on in the second half with Eriksen and Son pressing in all the right places with Dier and Dembele adding the bite. Quick balls out from the back and Son and Kane clearly told to stop the flicks and just get the ball on the floor.

Absolutely fantastic second half performance and we deserved more goals off the back of it.

Shows we're a danger to anyone in this tournament if we get it right.

Is there any recourse for overturning Jan's Red card? and is it worth trying if there is? ie any danger of them increasing the ban.
Also how long is the ban?straight red I would think 3 matches if it is seen as violent conduct.

Should never have been a red, at worst he was turning while feeling for the guy.

Will need him for the upcoming games.
2nd yellow

Pure genius. We don't have many player who would even think of that, let alone execute it.

I think he will help raise the standards here.
I think most players wouldn't think of it because if they are not completely aware of their surroundings it cost you big time. Similarly if you miss judge the situation and say it bounces off your arm or chest you could be handing a goal on a plate for the opposite.

It was a lovely move, and I'm glad he did. But I'm perfectly happy with most our players not trying those tricks.

Well, it only showed he cares. He is a typical Spurs fan who is scared when we are winning...LoL

Can the thread creator please change the thread title to add - 'Jan Vertonghen received a second yellow card CONFIRMED' thanks.

When is Wanyama due back ? I'd imagine if it's in time we'll simply slide Dier back into the back three and put Wanyama at DM

Serge Aurier...

Just 1 game, has shown us pace, power & intelligent passing. Walker runs fast & stops, but Aurier doesn't. He started a bit shaky but grew into the game well. His positioning is also decent.

Really buzzing that we got him. Hope he keeps his head & improves. Now there is no question - Aurier over Trippier all day long. If this was in doubt before, not anymore after today.

Agree, it's harsh on trips but TBH I think maybe we should start thinking about selling him whilst we can get a very good price

Very harsh but KWP and aurier with dier as last resort is enough imo

If we get anything in Madrid i'll do any forfeit you like that involves me stripping naked, a buttplug, two leeks, an albino pit pony, a feather duster, a can of squirty cream, Romanian weightlifter dwarf and a gas mask.

if we get anything in madrid.... even if we get stuffed?! :cautious:

He has the exact same mentality that a lot of our fans have.

Or it could involve something really degrading - an Arsenal shirt?

Totally understand that, and I do like Jenas. Just haven't felt like that for a couple of seasons now. Feel we can beat anyone on our day, feel like we're constantly growing and we always have capability to turn things around no matter how it seems.

Doom and gloom days feel a long time ago now.

I don't know - there is a certain bravado or confidence you need to pull that off. And its the same attitude you see in top teams in Europe. They have the skill, the audacity, and the belief to pull it off.

We need more of that belief.

(having said that, I agree it was a risky move - just think we need a little of that bravado to rub off on people to get them to take risks further up the pitch)
