They came into this game off the back of a good run and good result - a confident and compact team. They looked quite good until we took the bull by the horns after they scored. Our high press/high tempo put them out of their stride - in effect, we didn't let them play well.

Agree, we totally shut them down.

Because other than Lloris and Vertonghen I have very little faith in the rest of our defence.

Davies? Had a good game I thought.

And Walker will help too when he finally returns....... not the worst right back we have had to endure :)

...............once we went ahead, I always knew we arent going to concede anymore................

I wish I could have been as confident as you! I did the usual Spurs one-goal lead palpitations for the rest of the game. Looking back at the game we were very solid, much more so than we have seen for a good while.

I think they both were. 100 k a week and I honestly think he's been a liability to the team in more than half the games he's played.
Lets put it this way, we wouldn't be in Europa this year without him and that's for pretty certain. So how much is Europa worth to us for starters?

He's alright. I've seen a lot of him up close as he's been playing all the cup games. Decent young player. But if I'm honest I haven't seen that much that would suggest he's any better than Rose. I don't particularly rate Danny much as a footballer either, but at least with him you get that directness and his pace. Very good at chasing back and getting in the way. Davies... seems better on the ball, and a lot more suited to the way we set up yesterday. But I see some hesitation with him sometimes, stands off his man too much, and can make the wrong decision in possession. This could be down a bit of a lack of confidence maybe... a question of conviction in his game, and not being quite as strong as you'd like him to be.

But with this run in the first team that might be overcome and he'll improve.

Walker will definitely be a welcome, but the strength in depth needs to be addressed at full back. And the CB situation is a genuine concern to me. Other than Vertonghen I think we're just too soft.

I'm very much hoping that Fazio proves to be capable. I like the aerial superiority he contributes but he scares me whenever we insist on playing a high line.

How I miss Ledley...... how do you go about replacing the king? :(

Don't think it was a pen. Agree with Ghodd
Agree-but seen 'em given more often than not. Two games running Harry has been denied a decent shout and yesterday and in recent games the ref is not giving him the benefit when he goes down. Seems like last year he was "winning" those fouls.
Seems a bit like the refs are ganging up on him like they did with Bale.

I got a "disagree" rep for my criticism of Vlad but, for me, he was our weakest link and made a lot of errors. This doesn't mean that he doesn't have talent and potential but it needs a lot of work. He could be a very strong and valuable player given time. I would put him on the bench and give him playing time in as many games as warrant it while developing his skills in training.
I did not see many errors. He nearly made a horrific error but Hugo saved his bacon. He is quicker and more dependable than Dier in the position and he is a "go to" guy always available to receive a pass. I hope he will be fit for Chelsea.

You don't I'm afraid, defenders of his all round footballing ability are few and far between. Ledley was more than just an excellent central defender. He was a superb footballer... touch, vision, passing, positioning... he just understood the game.

Fazio... is another Ramon Vega to me. I can't see him being a long term player at this club.

Well every now and then you have to change the rules for a player who gives nothing but negative vibes back. As soon as he finished that successful loan season he was a problem, with his drawn out demands and late signing to not being fit at the end of it all and poor form, poor effort, falling out with coaches, coming back late from ACN, more poor form and moodiness, all the while collecting 100k a week?

And now his ma has him cursed? Enough is enough. I forgive the original poster but even if Ade is clinically depressed (for which he would get my sympathies) and finds a cure he should not be in our dressing room ever again. Very very bad signing at the end of the day and many on here called it at the time.
