On Pritchard and the same probably applies to the likes of N'jie Pochettion explains his omissions. Sorry for cross-posting but seems this issue keeps coming up

"Pochettino has explained that there is an importance difference between being physically ready and being up to the speed that he expects from his side"

and

“The way that we play – high-tempo – always it’s difficult and he needs the pre-season. And now it’s like he is in his pre-season.

Not confident, our side will be the same as the last 3 we failed in. Possibly rose to come in. If we Lose today is it a crisis ? If only we had got our business done early. Oh well

This might be what Poch thinks he is getting from the team in his head, but the reality is that it's total bollocks. I'd give him 5 games or so since he took over when we have played at high tempo.

Ok I've not seen those Poch quotes re fitness and i guess they're related to Pritch but on the same basis I don't see Rose starting unfortunately as he's not up to speed yet either, and that position is possibly the most demanding, fitness wise.

Unfortunately a few of the players we want to see in the first team are going to have to play their way in vis the cup games as Kane did last year. As soon as the cup games gets up and running we'll see who makes their mark.

Expect same team as last week unfortunately - although may have Rose back.
Can Som play? Thought he was waiting on a work permit

May I suggest this approach in the modern game which consists of rotations, injuries and keeping large squads happy is not really going to work.

I am by no means advocating playing players that are unfit but maybe when changes are forced or being made the player's coming in are always up against it which in turn hinders the team as a unit.

Maybe this is why we see little variation or risks from the manager.

How are players going to get match fit not playing matches?

So basically it'll be the same turgid team as last week? Yippee

Far from it but only because we have new signings to come in, which we desperately need. Unfortunately I have little confidence in the current crop of players.

Taking my boy to this as his first game tomorrow! Not driven down for a while - any parking tips? Used to chuck it in that big IKEA - is that still OK or have they put a stop to it now?
Heading up to WHL in a bit, hope its a great game for your sons first time at the lane.

For the record I agree. It's the one aspect that concerns me most about Poch; that I hear him say it but I don't see it.

I posted the quotes because the 'why is Pritchard not playing' comments Keep coming up again and again, and thought people might not have taken the time to hear what Poch had explained in terms of his reasoning.

Nope. Not a crisis. A nuisance, a bit of a pain, but hey ho we move to the next game. Nothing personal at all, but 'crisis' is media-infected hyperbole aimed at satisfying a society that is never 'happier' than on the verge of performing multiple acts of hysteria borne of boredom, superficiality, hey look at me vanity and insecurity.
Though I could be wrong of course!

Has there been any PR as to why Rose is still out? There is no way Davies is preferred after the preseason (rose starting) and the season Rose had last year. Is the injury worse than suspected?

He's a class act he really is.

Redknapp was terrible with the media but produced an entertaining winning team. I don't personally care how good his English is, it's what he gets the players to produce on the pitch that matters.

Need a big game from Dembele if we're to win this IMO. He needs to impose himself more. We always say this, but we need that really good game we see a couple of times a season tomorrow IMO.

We're just so lacking at the moment, its actually quite daunting given the pace and power they have in their side.

I really, really don't want to see Dier in midfield again, but I'm sure he will be. Rose had better be back in, we need width - and hopefully Trippier to.

As it stands, I'd play:

Lloris

Trippier
Toby
Jan
Rose

Bentaleb
Alli

Dembele
Mason
Chadli

Kane

Press them like mad, that's what we did last year at the lane and it was the first, and one of the few, games we actually looked like a proper Pochettino team.

Mason in the ten position, as he's got the incisive passing but just as importantly he's a great trigger for the press.

That is pretty much the best lineup currently on offer i think.

Nope, you're pretty much bang on the money, sir.

Can't express the furstration I'll have if Carroll is on the bench ahead of Pritchard or failing that, N'jie
