Siggy -------- Defoe -------- Lamela

Eriksen
Paulinho ------------- Dembele

Naughton --- Vertonghten --- Kaboul --- Walker

Friedel

Re: Ade

I am beginning to think that AvB has a problem with big personalities.

Lampard, Terry now Adebayor

this is the downside with having a young manager

If he is that bad, why the hell did we buy him?

he has no motivation and causes grief at every club he has been at.. there must be something in those rumours

we bought him cos he was shit cheap compared to other strikers who would have cost Levy a fortune before we even talk wages and we got a season out of him , thats about it..

I don't think anyone knows what has gone on behind the scenes, but he had a good first season and a bad second season. If we are not going to give him a chance then yes I agree he should have gone in the summer because once again we find ourselves a striker short.

no one in england can afford him as no top side will take him and only rich foreign sides is his way out..

im hoping something in these besiktas rumours and turkey.. get him out and benteke in lol... away we go!!!!

I'd rather we attempted to win something as whenever Spurs fans make jokes about the dust in the Arsenal trophy cabinet it reminds me that they've won a hell of a lot more in the last 30 years than we have.

Why do we have to pick and choose between CL qualification and silverware?

We've been trying the dont win any silverware route to CL success for the last 20 years. Hasnt really paid off so far.

Successful sides aim to win everything thats put in front of them, because winning is a mentality. Its a losers mentality to surrender.

Not to mention we have 2 squads of first team players. What the fuck are Lamela and co going to be doing if not in the cups.

I don't know how comfortable I feel with Friedel in goal any more.

I'd rather of not played him, keepers don't fatigue and Lloris is imperative to our system.

Could cost us.
Although I agree. Keeping Freidel as sharp as possible without affecting the form of Lloris is also vital, otherwise an injury to Lloris could be totally catastrophic.

Looks more like a 4231 to me !

Friedel,
Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Naughton;
Paulinho, Dembele;
Lamela, Eriksen, Sigurdsson;
Defoe

Subs :: Chiriches, Holtby, Capoue, Chadli, Lloris, Kane, Bentaleb

Note the absence of a left footer on the left side. Guess most of the action will be from Spurs right hand side.

Good to see we have Bentelab on the bench with Kane, but why not a few others ?

Paulinho and Dembele will dominate the Hull midfield and we can expect a lot of possession as usual. The interesting thing to watch will be whether they've worked on moving the ball to our creative players faster after a turn over and getting high up the pitch to support them, one charging forward and one covering. Personally I think, aside from the obvious left wingback issue, that this is the key to us playing good footy withing the 4-2-3-1 set-up.

We could also do with having the wide forwards playing more like strikers instead of wingers when we're on the ball. The fullbacks should be doing the wing work. I think part of the problem with our forwards is that apart from Soldado they all think they should be playing in the 'hole', instead of on the shoulders of the backline. This means that the midfield can't really play any attacking through balls and we look tame. Sure we'll lose some possession playing in that way but it will put the shits up the opposition defence. Once mistake or slip in concentration and we'll be in behind them. I understand that it's not always realistic to be able to play a through ball as soon as we win possession and we'll need one of Erikson, Lamela or Sig to come for the ball so we can progress the play forward. If we have to build the play rather than instantly be direct then I'm fine with all of them dropping deep to come for the ball. The important thing is that as soon as it's a clear which of them is going to be recieving the ball, the others peel off an make runs on the back four. This means we can take advantage of the space and disruption created by the player dropping off. The player recieving the ball will instantly know he can turn and look to play someone in. At them moment it feels more like the player has to get his head up and actually search around to see whateveryones doing, and in the meantime lose the ball or have to pass it backwards. It's not instinctive at the moment

I must have missed it -- BBC has Chadli on the bench:

Tottenham Hotspur
  • 24 Friedel
  • 02 Walker
  • 16 Naughton
  • 08 Paulinho
  • 04 Kaboul
  • 05 Vertonghen
  • 22 Sigurdsson
  • 19 Dembélé
  • 18 Defoe
  • 23 Eriksen
  • 11 Lamela
Substitutes
  • 06 Chiriches
  • 14 Holtby
  • 15 Capoue
  • 17 Townsend
  • 21 Chadli
  • 25 Lloris
  • 42 Bentaleb
apologies if redundant... :mask:

Plonkers, tossers whatever they are good footballers and smart managers understand and manage this.

Mourinho and Redknapp had no problem seeing this.

Adebayor was managed by Wenger and left for the money not because Wenger drove him out.

Mancini was a tyrant boss who fell out with many of his squad and Defoe came out publically against AvB making Ade train with the under 21's a couple of weeks ago.

I'm pretty much annoyed that AVB has done this again, maybe it won't get exposed in this game but it cannot be the plan going forward yet we keep doing it?

Also where has the chatroom link gone?
