BBC Live Text
17:46 GOAL Tottenham 0-5 Liverpool - Raheem Sterling (89 mins)
Luis Suarez turns to provider as he releases Raheem Sterling who beats the offside trap to slot home an easy goal which is his second of the season.
17:41 GOAL Tottenham 0-4 Liverpool - Luis Suarez
Magnificent from Suarez as he chips the ball over the onrushing Hugo Loris after being put through by Luis Alberto.
17:32 GOAL Tottenham 0-3 Liverpool - Jon Flanagan
The young Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan finishes like an old pro but celebrates like the novice goalscorer that he is. Luis Suarez picks out Flanagan and, with his first touch, Flanagan curls it into the top corner.
17:20
RED CARD - Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool - Paulinho
A shake of the head from Andre Villas Boas. Luis Suarez knocks the ball forward and Paulinho's challenge is late. In fact, he kicks the Liverpool striker in the ribs, but he did not seem to do so out of malice.
17:20
SUBSTITUTION - Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool
Andros Townsend replaces Mousa Dembele and Andre Villas-Boas must be hoping the England forward can spark his team into action.
Ezekiel Fryers replaces Kyle Naughton

HALF-TIME Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool
16:43 DISALLOWED GOAL - Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool
Simon Mignolet attempts to control the ball with his thigh but on that evidence the Liverpool striker could not trap a bag of cement. The ball bounces for Roberto Soldado who sticks the ball in the net but the goal is disallowed as the striker is deemed to have fouled Mignolet.
16:40 GOAL Tottenham 0-2 Liverpool - Jordan Henderson
Where to start with this goal? Hugo Lloris saves Jordan Henderson's initial effort from point-blank range... the ball falls to Luis Suarez and Lloris again sticks out a hand to stop the striker's shot... but the Tottenham goalkeeper can do little to prevent Jordan Henderson from side-footing into the corner.
16:30 SUBSTITUTION Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool
The injured Sandro is replaced by Lewis Holtby, which might add more creativity to Tottenham's play.
16:18 GOAL Tottenham 0-1 Liverpool - Luis Suarez
Michael Dawson fails to clear the ball and so Jordan Henderson nicks the ball from the defender and sets Luis Suarez free to score in the bottom corner.

Tottenham take on Liverpool at White Hart Lane on Sunday in a mouth-watering clash of sides with UEFA Champions League ambitions.

Sixth-placed Spurs could go level with the second-placed Reds on 30 points with a win in the match.

Andre Villas-Boas' side go into the game on the back of a five-match unbeaten run - including four wins - which has lifted some of the pressure on their under-fire boss after their lacklustre 6-0 rout at Manchester City.

In the league, Spurs have followed up a creditable 2-2 home draw with Manchester United with successive 2-1 wins on the road over Fulham and Sunderland, while in the Europa League there have been 2-0 and 4-1 victories over Tromso and latterly Anzhi Makhachkala.

Villas-Boas will be particularly pleased with the return of 12 goals from those five games - which followed just two strikes in the previous four matches - and the Spurs boss will be targeting more of the same on Sunday.

But it will be tough against a Liverpool side who will be full of confidence after posting 5-1 and 4-1 wins over Norwich and West Ham at home to climb back up to second in the table.

The genius of Luis Suarez has been pivotal in both of these successes - with the Uruguayan scoring four goals against the Canaries and then a brace against the Hammers to take his goal-scoring tally up to 15 goals in just ten Premier League appearances this term.

But on the road, the Reds have picked up just two points from their last four outings - including a 3-1 defeat at Hull City in their last trip - and boss Brendan Rodgers knows they must get back to winning ways quickly away from home if they want to secure a top-four finish at the season's end.

Tottenham

Tottenham manager Villas-Boas will assess defender Danny Rose and midfielder Christian Eriksen over the weekend before deciding whether they should start against the Reds.

Rose and Eriksen returned from long lay-offs on Thursday against Anzhi, but Villas-Boas is wary of rushing them back into league action following their respective toe and ankle injuries.

Defender Jan Vertonghen is out with an ankle injury while centre-backs Vlad Chiriches (knee) and Younes Kaboul (quad) are doubts.

Fulham
Liverpool will be without talismanic skipper Steven Gerrard, who will be absent for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury sustained in the victory over the Hammers.

Defensive midfielder Lucas Leiva, dropped for last weekend's win, is set to deputise for the England international.

Striker Daniel Sturridge (ankle) and left-back Jose Enrique (knee) are still sidelined by injury but centre-back Daniel Agger returns after illness.

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas will assess the fitness of Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen, who returned from injury lay-offs on Thursday against Anzhi Makhachkala.

Jan Vertonghen is out with an ankle injury, while Vlad Chiriches (knee) and Younes Kaboul (thigh) are doubts.

Liverpool are without the injured Steven Gerrard but Jordan Henderson has overcome a badly bruised ankle.

Daniel Agger returns after missing the win over West Ham because of illness.

After their autumn dip, Tottenham seem to be back in form with an unbeaten run of five games but if they are to genuinely challenge for a top-four place they need to improve their home results.

They've won just one of their last five league matches at White Hart Lane and scored only seven goals in as many games.

Roberto Soldado's midweek hat-trick against Anzi Makhachkala in Europe came on the back of the Spaniard being dropped for the previous two league games.

Tottenham haven't seen the best out of the £26m striker yet, but the service to him has been poor.

Part of the problem seems to stem from Andre Villas-Boas making so many changes as he tries to assimilate the new signings. They made a cracking start to the campaign by playing more of a settled side.

It's a big week for the club, with the League Cup quarter-final against West Ham to come too. A home win against Liverpool has become almost customary over recent seasons. But this time they have to handle the hottest striker in the country, and possibly Europe, right now in Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan has 29 goals in his last 29 club games. At times he's been unplayable and he always puts in a shift.

Liverpool have been very strong at home with eight wins in nine games in all competitions. But on the travels they have only one victory in their last seven, conceding poor goals at Hull and Everton on their most recent journeys.

The defence, playing out from the back, still takes too many chances for me. Steven Gerrard's injury suffered against West Ham is also a concern. He remains the very soul of the club.

This has always been a great fixture and with Soldado finally among the goals and Suarez firing on all cylinders it could be a high-scoring encounter. It'll be a big indicator as to which team can stay the course in the race for a top-four place.

Head-to-head

  • Liverpool beat Tottenham for the first time in six matches when they last met in March.
  • The Reds have lost on their last six visits to White Hart Lane. Four of those defeats have been by a 2-1 scoreline.
  • Liverpool have scored four own goals at White Hart Lane, the joint-highest figure of any team at a particular ground in Premier League history (along with Southampton at St James' Park and West Ham at Anfield).
Tottenham

  • Tottenham have 27 points after 15 games, a tally they have only bettered once before in the Premier League (in the 2011-12 season).
  • They are one of only three clubs, along with Swansea and Aston Villa, to have won more league games away than at home this season.
  • Spurs have won just one of their last five league matches at White Hart Lane.
  • They have scored seven goals in seven matches at home this season - only Aston Villa have scored fewer.
  • Spurs and Newcastle are the only two teams yet to score more than twice in a league game this season.
Liverpool

  • They are 11 points and 15 goals better off than at the same stage of last season.
  • However, they have managed just one clean sheet in their last 12 league matches.
  • The Reds have scored 14 goals from set pieces this season, more than any other team in the Premier League.
  • The injured Steven Gerrard has provided six goal assists this season, the joint highest amount in the top flight with Mesut Ozil.
  • Luis Suarez has scored 12 times in his last seven league appearances.

Really looking forward to this. It amuses me that Liverpool have had a great start to the season, we've had an OK start to the season, and they're still only 3 points ahead. We can win this.

Gerrard is a massive loss for them. It really shouldn't be underestimated. He might not be the force he once was in terms of explosive box to box dynamism, but he plays a more mature and disciplined role now.

I was at this fixture last season and he controlled the game for them after we went 2 nil up. This season he's made more key passes than anyone in the League. He's 6 assits and his set pieces and crosses have been excellent.

If all this isn't enough, he's their talisman and their captain. They all look up to him and he can inspire others around him and lift performances.

They may play it down but make no mistake its a huge loss for them and I'll be massively disappointed if we can't beat a Liverpool side missing a few of their key players.

I think we will win and they might of been scoring for fun at home but they're conceding a lot on the road as well.

I'm going 3-1 Spurs, not the obligatory 2-1 for a change.

I'm almost sure that we will be the better team on the day and deserve to win, but I also anticipate that it will be frustrating viewing like most of our other matches against big teams. Especially if Defoe start, I'm sure it will be missed chances galore while Liverpool are remarkably clinical in their finishing...

If Capoue and Chiriches start, I will be a lot more comfortable. Hopefully Rose can play as well, but i doubt it. Naughton was very good against Sunderland so I do not mind him playing as much.

Big club coming to the lane, turn up like we did against Utd and we will be fine, which I think we will. It does help us when we play the big sides, crowd gets right up for it, which effects the players. Teams like Newcastle and Hull its as if we almost have a sense of entitlement to win, and cliche as it may sound there are no easy games in this league. Going for an exciting 3-2 win, cant see us keeping a clean sheet with Dawson against Suarez, but at the same time we should dominate the midfield with no Gerrard.

I say it time and again (mainly because it applies to us more than most) if we start with a fast tempo and score early we'll win relatively comfortably.

If not it will be another nervy, heart attack inducing afternoon.

This is a game I've been looking forward to massively.

This is a good benchmark for us. We are better than them but they are doing well.

I believe over the course of a season our squad will help us finish above them. They are already crying over 2 injuries. We've had 2 centre backs and our left back out pretty much all season.

Whatever the performance we need to win.

I'd be massively disappointed if we didn't win so much so that if we don't pick up the 3 points I may do something I'll regret like shag a tranny.

SPOT ON

From my 35+ years going to WHL you can pretty much tell how the game is going to pan out after 10-15mins. If we haven't created a chance or worked the keeper in that time you know it's going to be a pretty long afternoon
