21:32 GOAL - Tottenham 1-5 Man City - Vincent Kompany (89 mins)
It's happening again! Edin Dzeko's powerful shot hits Nabil Bentaleb and Vincent Kompany smashes in the rebound from six yards out. How can anybody stop City this season?
21:27 Holtby on for Eriksen
21:21 GOAL - Tottenham 1-4 Man City - Stevan Jovetic (78 mins)
Stevan Jovetic nets his first Premier League goal since a £22m move to Manchester City - checking inside and beating Hugo Lloris with a powerful shot following Fernandinho's driving run and pass.
21:02 GOAL - Tottenham 1-3 Man City - Etienne Capoue (59 mins)
Slack from Manchester City as a corner is put into the mixer and Etienne Capoue capitalises on some poor defensive play to stab home from 12 yards.
20:56 GOAL - Tottenham 0-3 Man City - Edin Dzeko (53 mins)

Manchester City look rampant once again as Edin Dzeko nets his sixth goal in as many games against Spurs. Pablo Zabaleta gets in behind the hosts' defence and pulls the ball back, David Silva's shot is beaten onto the post by Hugo Lloris and Edin Dzeko strokes away the rebound.
20:53 GOAL - Tottenham 0-2 Man City - Yaya Toure penalty (51 mins)
Cool as you like, up steps Yaya Toure and calmly strike the ball into the corner, sending Hugo Lloris the wrong way in the proce
20:53 RED CARD - Tottenham 0-1 Man City - Danny Rose
And the Spurs full-back is given his marching orders, despite seeming to get to the ball. The hosts are furious.
20:52 PENALTY FOR MAN CITY - Tottenham 0-1 Man City
Edin Dzeko races through on goal, Danny Rose makes a sliding tackle and brings down the striker. Penalty.
HALF TME Tottenham 0-1 Man City
19:59 GOAL - Tottenham 0-1 Man City - Sergio Aguero (15 mins)
Are Manchester City heading for the top of the table? Sergio Aguero certainly hopes so as he scores for the eighth successive game - sliding past Hugo Lloris after a glorious throughball from David Silva.

Tottenham will again be without Andros Townsend (hamstring), while Erik Lamela is still absent through injury
.

Jan Vertonghen, Younes Kaboul and Sandro have all returned to training but this game may come too soon.

Manchester City are boosted by the news that Alvaro Negredo is fit to play after overcoming a shoulder injury.

David Silva is also available following a recent hamstring problem, but Samir Nasri, James Milner and Javi Garcia are all still sidelined.

preview.jpg

I've heard it said that Spurs have had it relatively easy since Tim Sherwood took charge.

That - with the exception of the FA Cup tie at Arsenal, which they lost - the fixtures have been kind to the new man in charge.

Whilst there may be a grain of truth in the argument (and Andre Villas-Boas would surely side with it!), I think it's only a grain.

The old adage rings true that you can only beat the opposition in front of you, and the fact remains that Sherwood is unbeaten as a Premier League boss.

Sixteen points from a possible 18 has been a superb start for him, and has included wins at Manchester United and Southampton. Easy? Really?

We know that this one won't be, with Manchester City playing so well that they're giving teams two goal starts and still winning!

I would have loved to have carried out a poll of City fans at half time during Saturday's FA Cup tie with Watford. How many thought they'd turn round the two-goal deficit to win? I'd suggest plenty. Monitoring the game from afar I certainly had an inkling that they might.

The unbeaten run in all competitions now stands at 19 games - winning 17, and scoring 64 goals along the way. It's a run that started with the 6-0 demolition of Spurs at the Etihad in November.

With Spurs up for revenge, Chelsea at home next Monday, then Barcelona and Chelsea again in February, we're moving into a new period of examination of just how good Manuel Pellegrini's team is, and whether the "Quadruple" really is possible or a ridiculous dream?

The key must surely be keeping the pool of Aguero, Dzeko and Negredo fit and firing, whilst avoiding any more halves like the first on Saturday.

Captain Vincent Kompany said afterwards "complacency is our biggest enemy". If he's said it and believes it, then I think they're on top of it.

facts.jpg

Head-to-head

  • Manchester City have scored 17 goals in their last five league games against Tottenham.
  • Tottenham have won seven and lost just one of their last 10 home games against Manchester City.
  • In the reverse fixture back in November, Spurs fired in 13 shots to City's 15, but lost 6-0.
  • If the league had started after Tim Sherwood took charge at White Hart Lane, Manchester City would be top with 18 points and the Lilywhites would be second with 16.
Tottenham

  • Tottenham have only lost once in their last 10 league matches; 5-0 against Liverpool.
  • They have won 25 points away from home, compared with just 18 at White Hart Lane.
  • Spurs have conceded just one headed goal this season, fewer than any other team in the top flight.
  • Emmanuel Adebayor's five goals from seven games this season has matched his Premier League tally from 25 appearances last season.
Manchester City

  • City are unbeaten in 19 matches, scoring 64 goals in that period.
  • Manchester City have scored with 21.2% of their shots this season, the best chance conversion rate in the Premier League.
  • Edin Dzeko has scored in three of his last four Premier League appearances and has five in five against Tottenham - more than he has scored against any other club.
  • Yaya Toure has scored six goals in his last eight Premier League games.
  • Sergio Aguero has scored 13 and assisted four in his last 12 top-flight appearances. Aguero has 49 Premier League goals from 80 games. If he scores against Spurs, or against Chelsea on Monday, he'll be the fifth fastest man to a half century, behind Andy Cole, Alan Shearer, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Fernando Torres.

Proper Man Test for the team and TS. One thing is certain, it won't be a 1 way street for them this time. Cannot help but have cautious optimism.

I would love to win this but haven't Man City won 16 of their last 18 games in all competitions and I dread to think what their goal difference is over those games.

Realistically everyone expects us to lose, I just hope we compete, Adebayor has a blinder against an old club, we take our chances and City have an off day.

If all that happens we could win it

There will be plenty of goals again - lets just hope they're spread between us a bit more!

I'm going for a 2-2. We can get at their back line but we won't prevent their attack from scoring either.

Although City manage to get wins, they're not as great away as they are at home. We start on the front foot we could do it. I honestly think we can beat them. All I want though is a good performance regardless of result. Show them we are no push overs.

You gotta look at the match-ups first:

If 442, tim may go...

Dawson/Chiri vs Negredo/Aguero ...erm...
Eriksen/Rose vs Zabelate/Navas...erm...
Lennon/Walker vs Silva/Clichy...erm...

These are the key battles that will determine the game.

If tim played - at least started - the same team/shape as against swansea I'd be happy.

Fan Update: Manchester City
Posted by Tottenham Hotspur on 28 January 2014 - 13:00

The Police have informed us that they will continue to monitor for use of the Y-word by supporters during our fixture against Manchester City as they have at recent home fixtures. The Club advises any supporter that is warned and asked to stop chanting this word by Police, to follow these instructions in order to avoid further sanctions including possible arrest.

The Police have also confirmed to us that they will be adopting a zero tolerance approach to all forms of anti-Semitic abuse, as well as anything considered to be foul, abusive, homophobic or racist.

We therefore ask all supporters, both home and away, to be mindful of their language and behaviour at White Hart Lane.

The Club does not tolerate discrimination of any sort, on the pitch or in the stands, and the Police and our stewards shall take action against anyone heard using abusive, offensive or obscene language.

Should you experience anyone behaving in this manner, you can report it to the Club by texting the Control Room on the following number:

07537 404821

You do not have to put up with mindless supporters who are intent on ruining your experience with us, so use the system, report the individuals and let us take it from there. We will treat your correspondence in strictest confidence.

For our staff, it is better to monitor the problem as it is happening as we can view the area of concern on CCTV and deal with everything quickly.

The Texting Service has been used to good effect in enabling us to ban people for committing offences on matchdays in the past.

We have a fantastic atmosphere at the Lane and we hope everyone continues to focus their energies on cheering the team on.

He'll start 433, Soldado on the bench. Front 3 of Eriksen - Adebayor - Lennon

Midfield Dembele - Bentaleb and AN Other

How does that texting service work? You text in the seat number of someone behaving like a twat and the stewards have a word?

I think he's gonna match them up, unfortunately. Can feel it.

If he does as you suggest, we'll have a chance, but I can feel a 442 coming.
