I'm on the fence about Tim, but agree that march will be make or break. I would have like to see what he would have done if Sandro, Kaboul and Vertonghen were fit. These are the characters that we need in the big games. Those that will lift the team and lead. We are desperately short on those at the moment.

< fit
< Kaboul

Pick one

Michael Owen on Vincent Kompany: "in my opinion one of the best defenders in the league". Way to stick your neck on the line.

If I were a player in that squad, or a member of the training staff, I would have to decline to be interviewed after the game, as I would almost certainly be fined by the FA. Entirely for having the temerity to say that their so called professional match officials were completely inept, inadequately trained, and flat out myopic. Also that said lack of ability to do their actual jobs properly rendered the game pointless as a contest.

No point having a go at Tim, or the players... all their best efforts rendered pointless imo. In fact I was heartened to see Capoue come on at half time.

Fuck it, City are smacking everyone about this season... let them have the league. That was a bullshit game.

I would have thought that the linesman fucking us over last night would have been enough to actually see Sherwood get angry in an interview. But no.

All the big teams go ape shit when decisions go against them and make them feel cheated. At the very least it makes officials think twice next time a defender slides in and puts his foot on the ball. We always play the nice guy, who takes these decisions on the chin. It really pisses me off.

But for how long do we stay as we are not being able to challenge the top three positions.
At some point enic will have to make a decision on whether to sell the club to owners who can make that dream come true to really compete.
Last night showed how far away we are as we always used to beat city now in the last couple of seasons we have lost 5-1 at home twice and 6-0 away totally unacceptable for this club and twice this season conceding five at home an utter disgrace of a team.

Well we used to be able to beat them before because they didn't have about 300 million worth of the best talent in the world on the pitch. And if I understand your point, it's high time ENIC sold the club to some rich oil Sheikh/Russian so that we can compete - well at least until they get bored, realize profit margins on football clubs are low, any expenditure in effect is for marketing and decide to invest elsewhere.

I started supporting Spurs in 91. Having watched the dross that I have, I am grateful that we now seem to have a good team that can give most teams in the league a decent game, a young tough manager who encourages attacking play and knows the league (I personally do not want a foreign coach - hoping for that 1 in 100 chance that they turn out to be another Mourinho - and giving them 2 years of time for their "project"), have a financially stable club with one of the toughest and most financially astute chairmen in Europe (even that prick Fergie was fed up of him after being squeezed for every penny for Berbatov), a decent scouting network with a majority of players being bought and sold for a profit and active plans underway to expand capacity in the stadium. We have learnt lessons from Arsenal in our development model and while the stadium plans could have been faster, the local council have not been very supportive at all.

Rome wasn't built in a day and we have been progressing well over the last 5/6 years. One bad result does not change that. COYS!

He's a smooth operator that Tim. Comes across as a direct, "say it like it is", no word of a lie guvnor, type... but he's a political guy, won't ruffle any feathers that would land him in hot water.

I wholeheartedly agree, whenever the ref had a decision to make, the City players and Kompany imparticular, pestered, surrounded and put pressure on the officials. This isn't a new thing, the big teams have been at it for years,Manure have turned it into an art form.....
The FIRST fucking time I saw Dawson speaking to the ref was about two seconds before we scored....when we were 3 nil down, down to ten men...
I'm sick of having a nice-guy as our captain......I want a leader.

Absolutely disgraceful, 'try-hard to impress' coverage from BT Sport! I just saw a clip where the Rose tackle replay had a live mini window totally obscuring the view! Stick to telephones BT! Thank God I had the un-raped international broadcast!

That mini window shit is a joke. Thought the same when they obscured the rose challenge. Been watching before and they brought up a mini window "ref cam" (which showed the ref jogging up the pitch)and they happened to have the ref on the main screen too! Useless.

I thought towards the end of the first half, we started doing OK. Got in their faces and roughed them up a bit, got the crowd on-side and was making a fair bit of noise. From what i saw though, on the TV admittedly, both Lennon and Siggs were anonymous.

We were playing Man City though, who at the moment have most teams beat before the ref blows his whistle. You have to admit they are a class act, no question. I just hope they don't pick up the arrogance that chelsea have, but i saw little signs last night that it's creeping in. I suppose its the win at all costs champions mentality that's drilled into them, which unfortunately, we haven't got.

The table is shaping up now and bar any hiccups, City will clean up all before them. I hope they batter Chelsea Monday, the irony being is that Jose will park the bus and play 19th Century football.

Report out this morning that last year Abu Dhabi FC spent £639,000 A DAY on wages! How is anyone other than the Russian money-laundering mafiosi expected to compete with that. All this drooling over a team funded by oil wells makes me puke. Yes - it's awesome how they've managed to achieve what they have on just a billion dollars.

Yes I get what your saying but this isn't one bad defeat this is the third one four if we count West Ham at home really not good enough.
And as for the stadium Levy was talking this up ten years ago and it's still not done normally big companies get things like this over the line much quicker if city want a new stadium it won't take them long as they would approach in the way that gets the job done if you get my drift.
And as for Rome that was built quicker than our stadium.

Am I going completely mental?! Every news report I see just goes on and on about Man City scoring 5. Barely any mention it was against 10 men. That would be worth mentioning even if Rose had deserved a red card.

Don't headlines usually read: "Man City thrash 10 man Spurs" or something like that?

You can't compete with that wealth. An even playing field went out the window a looooong time before City were bought, but they definitely highlight the utter lack of level competitiveness in the Premier League.

You can't start a game v City with 10 men, and then when Rose was sent off down to 9. We did then get back to 10 when Naughton replaced Siggy, but far too late.

Poor team selection and tactics were as key to last nights embarrassment as much as the refereeing decisions.

It was our first premier league defeat under Tim. Its a new start and what AVB did doesn't count.

And as for the stadium, it basically boils down to more money - which a 'big' company generally tends to have. The council would roll out the red carpet if we were dolling out billions for them to do as we say. We dont have those finances and we are trying to get our moneys worth.

Firstly all defeats count don't cherry pick that is as bad as the Tottenham team itself and trying to get our money's worth is a big part of the Tottenham problem.

Sherwood is in a win, win situation. No one was expecting him to do well and until last night we were undefeated in the Prem since he took over. At the end of the season we have the World Cup and after that will be the best time to appoint a new manager. That is when Levy and Co. can look at what Tim has done and if he doesn't deliver then he will be sacked and probably no one will care.

Even with our strongest 11 and good form it was always going to be hard to beat City. I wasn't so sure at first but Pellegrini has made City a stronger side than Mancini ever could.

The sending off just made the score line higher. Had this not have happened then perhaps it might have ended up 2-0 or 2-1. Either way, losing to City the way they are currently playing is no bad thing.
