Shoehorning Soldado into that right side is all wrong, he won't track back, no balance at all, Fredericks would have been a better fit.

Fredericks Eriksen Chadli
Soldado
Kind of difficult to pick him when he's on loan.

I must have missed him dictating the play from the middle of the park...

He was completely anonymous, not what you want from a centre mid...just because he is a youth product, let's not be completely blind to this.

Given his recent good performances I think one dodgy game is the least of our worries.

He wasn't completely anonymous. Mason, Rose and at times Eriksen were the only players trying to do anything. Have you forgot his assists as well?

Sigh.

Hang on, so Mason gets no flack, because he got an assist, but Ade is useless despite scoring a goal??

Mason and Capoue were overrun buy Colback and Sissoko.

If he was here I'd super love him on the right as @spurs9 will tell you.:D

Soldado isn't a shoehorn though, no one we've put on the right has tracked back properly (nope...maybe lennon whenever he's played tbf) so I'd rather have him there who is savvy in advanced play but with a fast RB who can recover quickly. Also, Soldado isn't work-shy and I don't think he'd abandon that responsibility as much as lamela did yesterday.

Still not sure about chadli on the left.

You're spot on there, usually after an hour or so I generally accept the defeat and move on BUT 24 hours later and im still absolutely raging. Ive not been able to do any work as I keep thinking about how the hell we managed to let Newcastle back into the game when they had no right too, I keep thinking about Chadlis laugh after he ballooned that glorious chance over the bar in the first half, I keep thinking back to how little effort Eriksen and Lamela were showing, I keep thinking back to how the fuck the smallest, not only in height but body weight player on the pitch beat 3 of our defenders to score a header, I keep thinking back to Pochs willingness to sit on his hands and do nothing while it was so obvious we needed to change ANYTHING!

Talk of a protest is probably OTT but ive got to say that ive not taken a defeat this badly for many a year.

Yep, this one was pretty tough to take and you're not alone in the rage. I know this whole Poch system is going to take time, but hoo boy, he's made some really bad calls that fall into the 'howler' category! He really needs to get it together and start integrating Kane and Soldado into the first team, while giving the attacking trio of Lamela, Chadli and Eriksen an adrenalin shot by actually making them fight for their places. I'd also suggest putting some electrodes in Townsend's wisdom teeth that are activated whenever he feels the need to launch a Cape Canaveral shot into orbit instead of formulating a meaningful pass to a 'fox in the box'. Ugh... I could go on with our problems in defense, but I don't want to ruin my day!

Mason wasn't as good in the second half but he was fantastic in the first. He constantly tried to make things happen. Yes, Ade got a goal. Well done to him. What did he do apart from that?

I don't like the theory of Soldado on the right, smacks of squeezing him in somewhere, Chadli on the left has worked ok in some games but in reality we have 3 number 10's, more interested in seeing Chadli play up top of I'm honest.

Soldado is a very versatile player and in his time here has shown he can play in any of the four positions imo.

He's one of my favourite players.

Fair enough, I don't see any merit in it at all, looks more of a desperate measure to me.

Mine too. It's a shame to see such a hardworking talent waste away instead of cultivating his strengths, to give us more options in attack. It's frankly unacceptable.

It really is sad and I don't understand it.

I've never seen a player get spursed so hard before. Poor guy.

True, but I feel that Sergei Rebrov got shafted a lot worse by Hoddle, who insisted on the Jurassic pairing of Sheringham and Ferdinand - no matter what.

CORRECTION (edit) : Ferdinand was of the Cretaceous period, while Sheringham was, correctly Jurassic. I apologize if this error may have affected any ongoing paleontological research as a result.

Gary Neville just ripped into us on Monday Night Football. Rightly so I might add.

Basically said that Newcastle first goal is the type of goal we are always likely to concede. We are never ready at kick offs, mentally weak and that the entire culture at the clubs needs to be changed. He said Pochettino needs at least 2-3 years to get clean house of those with a poor attitude.

The stone cold truth.

Fans will just have to accept it.
