Not an Ade fan at all but hope he has a great game and finds some form - a motivated and focused Ade could be vital for us over the rest of the season. We have him and might as well try and get the best out of him while he is here.

Mason too. Huge return for our general squad play.

Yep (though I still have some doubts about Mason).

With no Lamela and no Chadli it was always likely that we'd be playing Eriksen on the left, so Adebayor alongside Kane makes a lot of sense.

I'm utterly gobsmacked. Ade could score 60000 goals tonight but making him Captain when he's hardly played is the most bizarre and stupid decision i've seen at spurs in my 30 odd year support.

I'm lost for words.

They haven't just made him captain, he was already a vice captain and its takes more effort/causes greater issues to remove that from him.

I just hope Ade tries tonight. If the goals fall to our other players then that's fine, but some effort would be a good start.

Rewarding Ade for nothing is hardly the way to motivate someone who needs to be banished to the development squad and brought back to a first team at a new club or by a new manager to be motivated.....

Entirely agreed actually in both cases.

Mason is easily our best midfielder for providing movement for the squad and keeping the opposition open, but I do still think we lack in energy and push from deep.

I agree with this, but it's sad that we seem to say this so often. There really shouldn't be a need for fans to question whether a player will be motivated to do his best, but with Adebayor it is what it is.

You know how the Vice captain role works? Right?

Everyone is making their Adebayor decisions based on hearsay. Who knows for certain if there was ever a bust up. Or if there was, that he hasn't come back and worked really hard to win Poch over. The way that Poch has gone about things so far is enough for him to warrant our respect with whatever team he puts out. He's not had him around the team for however long for a reason, and if he now deems it right to have him back then I back him.

Really hope the fans get behind Ade. What's the point in alienating him? Serves no purpose but to hurt the team and the club just to get your whine on.

I support anyone stepping on that pitch with a white shirt on, regardless of what a self-serving arrogant prick they are.

Delighted to see Mason back, been a big miss and think him and Stambo will work well.

Fucking work event stopped me being there, gutted.

The captain-thing follows protocol. Let it go, and concentrate on more stimulating concerns. (y)
I didn't want him as part of the captain 3some in the first place. But he is part of that group now, and there is not much to do about it.

probably poch's way of telling ade 'i have faith in you'. can't agree with the decision though.

I think it's like the naughty kid in class being given the super important job of picking up all the pencils from everyones table, so he's kept busy and doesn't start slapping all his classmates.

I dont like ade as captain but lets be realistic. Kane cant play every game this season and its unlikely we will sell ade so what are the options? put some faith in the big man and see if he performs; a fired up ade could play a vital role before the end of the season...

I think Kane/Eriksen will alternate between left wing and CAM, I don't think Kane will be striker today (based on what we saw vs Sunderland).
