BBC Live Text
83 mins Substitution There will be no FA Cup magic from Marc McNulty as the Sheffield United forward goes off, midfielder Jose Baxter is on in his place.
75 mins Substitution - Tottenham make their final change as Paulinho trots on for Benjamin Stambouli. A 1-0 deficit is by no means a bad thing for Sheffield United going back to Bramall Lane, but this is going to be a long 15 minutes for the Blades.
73 mins GOAL Tottenham 1-0 Sheff Utd - Andros Townsend
Blades keeper Mark Howard dives the right way but Andros Townsend's penalty is well hit and bulges the back of the net. Advantage Spurs.
72 mins PENALTY Jay McEveley handles a ball into the box and it is a chance here for Tottenham
64 mins Substitutions Roberto Soldado replaces Emmanuel Adebayor and Mousa Dembélé replaces Ryan Mason.
54 mins YELLOW CARD
Tottenham 0-0 Sheff Utd - McEveley for foul on Townsend

HALF TIME Tottenham 0-0 Sheff Utd

Spurs skipper Emmanuel Adebayor goes in referee Neil Swarbick's book after pushing off Louis Reed with his arm, with the Blades man buzzing around him as he tries to steal possession.

Easy win tonight, I think over the the two legs it will be pretty comfortable for us.

Providing we don't concede tonight 2-0 will be fine. I can see us scoring away from home but I can't see Sheff Utd scoring 4. I just hope the boys are up for it like they were vs Chelsea and not like they were vs Palace.

It will be a tough game, no doubts about that.

They will make it so difficult for us this evening and their aim will be to take a no more than a one or two goal difference back to Sheffield, as they will believe with that stadium rocking that they could overturn a small deficit from tonight.

They will work, chase everything, sit deep, tackle hard and harry us- I hope we can match them in endeavour and will because that is what will allow our superior ability to become apparent but also not become too cavalier + impatient while trying to break them down as they can play incisive football too if we allow them space.

Sheffield won't be daunted by WHL or a prem team given who they have defeated already. We have got to be up for this(both the players and fans) as much as they are, we are too far in the comp to let this slip against a lesser team but I am not as optimistic as others and cannot see us finishing the tie this evening and having an easy route.

God knows I hope im wrong though, would love us to coast through and save my ticker the trouble of getting wound up...

I hope we don't go on the same rollercoaster ride we went on last time we played a lower league side we were expected to win in the league cup. 4-1 up after the first leg and then 2 minutes from time in the 2nd 3-0 down, going out on away goals. Oh the joys of supporting Tottenham!

4 or 5 and not to concede. Let's make this easy for us in the 2nd leg!

Jose Baxter has surely done Poch's teamtalk for him with his misconceptions about players who play at our level.

Jose, the reason why premier league footballers don't kick is because they don't have to. They are good enough to play top level football without resorting to that. Doesn't mean they can't though. Anyone can...well, apart from maybe Eriksen!

I'm always up for any Spurs game, but I'm extra pumped for this. All I have been hearing is how this is a banana skin, Sheff Utd will be up for this and have no fear of us etc
Well to that I say we are Tottenham Hotspur, you know, a rather decent English football club who have a fairly impressive history. Why the eff would we be worried about facing anyone??? Bring it on, its a semi-final. If we can't get up for this then whats the point? I think we will smash them and I will enjoy it thoroughly if we do.

People are going on like we're paying man united, not bloody sheffield united. We'll turn these over no problem.

This game could get pwopah naughty. MoPo will play Kaboul. We do not need 2 defensive midfielders. Maybe Lennon could start if Mason not 100%.

Lloris
Walker Kaboul Vertonghen Rose
Stambouli Mason
Townsend Eriksen
Kane Ade

To be fair to @KitKat, some of you are going a little over the top in your caution about this game. Yes we want to be wary, and need to put in a professional performance to get the game won, but we should be beating Sheffield United pretty comfortably. As much as Sheffield United will make it difficult next week for us, we're capable of making it far more difficult for them.

I don't think poch will play Kaboul, he's been a liability arsenal away aside this season. Think it will be verts and dier at CB
