Yeah, I hope it isn't the end, but it's starting to look that way. Tim's given everyone a chance, and so far Holtby and Sigurdsson are two who haven't impressed under him. With Carroll likely to be recalled it seems they might be offloaded. It seems like more than a coincidence that Sigurdsson was played in the middle against West Ham and was poor, then was even worse in the next two games on the left, after which he gives an interview saying he doesn't want to play on the left and he's out the squad.

Hopefully Holtby can get a little run and impress, but if Dembele and Paulinho keep playing like they did today, with Sandro to come back and Capoue and Bentaleb trying to force their way in, it seems unlikely.

I bet if he did move to another club though, like Everton for example, he'd do really well
I'd personally love to see 4-1-3-2

Capoue
Lamela Holtby Eriksen
Ade Soldado
That would crucify a shit team @ home... So many footballing brains.

So would I, but Tim would probably be crucified if he dropped Dembele and Paulinho after today :p When Dembele inevitably gets an injury, if Holtby gets another start he really needs to take his chance.

Lufti, if we persist with this 4-4-2, where do you see Lewis fitting in? It's a worry because I really rate him and I know it's a squad game but I'd say he's behind Dembele/Paulinho/Sandro/Capoue/Eriksen ... You could even throw Siggy in there.
Looks like tim's playing a loose 442 come 433, so it's actually pretty flexible....if he continues as he did today.

Dembele and Paulinho are twice the player Holtby is
I don't expect it to happen and it was of no detriment to Paulinho or Dembele

I just think Capoue would have to be the sitting player as he has a great passing range and can tackle.

Then having a trio a la Mata/Oscar/Hazard last season behind Adebayor and Soldado would prove lethal.

Just my two cents.

I know! Super exciting isn't it! *does rapid happy clap*

I appreciate this is tongue in cheek and a fair few of us have called for a Defoe replacement for a while now but the man has scored over 100 goals for the club and loves playing for us.

My rapid happy clap will be in honour of a great servant for the club, if and when he goes. (y)

It certainly looked a lot more fluid today, with Eriksen tucking in plenty but not falling down on his defensive duties either and being there for Fryers.

Different types of players, plus they're 3 and 4 years older than him. Holtby is a passer, whereas Dembele is a dribbler :))) and Paulinho is a bit of an all rounder. If Holtby was no good do you think he would have been captain of a German u21 side which included players such as Draxler, Götze and Reus all looking to play in the same position?

Haha, I put my neck on the line to back him when we signed him, and I'm not backing down any time soon! He'll come good if given the chance, I know it!

I actually feel pressure when he plays, because if he has a bad game I tend to get a bit of stick too :shifty:
