Agree 100% but our attitude and appetite for the occasion sadly stunk the place out.
The fact we lost didn't really come as a surprise if I'm honest, what did is the difference between the first and second half performances...god knows what was said at half time.
Too many players phoned it in for the second half.
Odd performance, not gonna dwell on it though, all teams have a stinker every now and again.

Defo mate in fact I told my hammer mate last week that they would beat us for the reasons I stated, he text me this morning you were right.
But yeah I half expected and are more concerned with Utd and Madrid.

If Kane and Verts had played, they wouldn’t have allowed the players to slack off and lose the lead.

I actually think West Ham benefitted from their total shitness.....if they weren't so shit we wouldn't have been so inexcusably complacent and might have killed the game when on top.

in other words they would never have won had they not been so utterly shit.

4 of our main rivals that will have at least 2 tough extra mid week games in the middle of CL re starting. While we have our feet up with no risk of injuries. Its interesting considering how much top teams have dominated competition that only 4 times have a team won league cup and gone on the win PL.Dont underestimate how much these 4 extra midweek games will take its toll.

Not directed at you per se, but one of those four rivals will win the League Cup, one of them will in all likelihood win the league, one of those has a good chance of winning the FA Cup, one is the favourite for the Europa and I wouldn't write a couple of them off in the Champions League.

We may well finish top four, qualify for the Champions League and receive plaudits for our style of play, but silverware is how teams are remembered across generations. We need to establish ourselves as a club where a bad year is winning the League Cup. We are not there yet, so going out when we know a rival will win it is infuriating to me as a fan.

I want to see us lifting trophies. Right now I will settle for any trophy. Coming second again and winning the League Cup for me would be progress. I think the fan base might be split on this and the manager seems to be leaning one way too. I guess I am just upset at the manner in which we went out, who we went out to and the attitude of some players and fans at the loss.

I have kids who are fans who have never seen us lift a trophy. I want that to change. We have fans who have never seen us lift the FA Cup or compete in a European Final. I want that to change. In order for it to change we have to win something.

We’ll all look back at this time and team with a deep sense of regret if they don’t lift a trophy. Look at the team we had with Bale, Modric, and VDV. Won nothing.

Snooker fans will know that Jimmy White got to multiple World Championship finals and didn’t win a single one. People don’t look back and consider him a true great. They see a nearly-man who should have won the big one at least once.

We don’t need to win the big one, but something would be nice.

Why are you writing off our chances for the league or FA cup may I ask?

We do need to win the league or CL to be considered a great team. Nobody would care if we won the league cup. Sadly the same may be true for the FA cup these days (although I would be delighted if we won it)

I would assume that he is seeing our recent record and attitude in cups is shit and as for the league, well come on mate we not going to win that either but top four is realistic.

Did u see the team that Arsenal put out against Norwich?
The team we put out last night was easily strong enough to win that match.
The question is, will the Spammers be as up for this as they were in the 2nd half against us or will it be a repeat of their 1st half over the entire 90 minutes.

They love to bang on about our poor attitude, yet they seem to ignore what almost everyone else can see, Arsenal's poor attitude. Look at the way Arsenal approached the Norwich game, and how Troy Deeney rightly called them out and demonstrated that they can be got at.

West Ham face a crossroads as far as I see it, are they a one focused team who can only get up for games against us or are they a team of bottle jobs who shrink when faced with similar opportunities against other teams ? If they aren't the latter then surely now is their time to prove it at the Emirates !!! My money is on them reverting to type and rolling over like puppy dogs, and instead Arsenal see what we saw in the first half only they see it for an entire 90 minutes.

I'm still dissapointed. Toby's comments that we shouldn't be ''too dramatic'' about the loss just sums up the whole clubs attitude towards the competition.

The answer is no they won't be as up for it as when they play us so in short most likely they will go out against the goons.

Don't think you get it. If you are one of the best teams in the country you will finish at or near the top of the league.

If you aren't, you won't, but you still have a chance of winning a cup.

Man City for example I would say are also more likely to win the PL then either the FA cup or the League Cup.

We've only won the league twice because we've rarely been one of the best teams in the county.
Surely that means the cup is a bit easier to win rather than the league? You need to be consistent over a much longer period of time. If we had won against west ham we would have been through to the quarter final and played a massive match against Arsenal, win that and we would have been three matches away from winning the trophy. The top 6 clubs are generally competitive in both the league and the cups if you look at the history.

Still annoying. Both teams sleepwalked through the first half, with us naturally being the best when the effort levels were the same. Then, when West Ham scored, only one team woke up.

Just being pragmatic. I think when all is said and done Man City will romp the league. They will be a good 10-15 points ahead of their nearest rival. I think we will finish top four with would be continuity, but if we finish a distant second or third is it progress even allowing for City and United's spending?

As to the FA Cup, our recent history suggests we will lose in the 3rd or 4th round when we don't take the competition seriously or we lose when we come up against Chelsea or Arsenal. Would love to change that. I want to win the FA Cup and finish top four.

However, do you honestly see Poch putting out a full strength team ahead of a last 16 or last 8 CL tie?

It really wouldn't. What you have said here is just wrong. Players get a lot more belief out of going toe to toe with Real Madrid than lifting the Carabao cup. You of course know this so you are being deliberately disingenuous after a disappointing performance and result.

Haha, first time anyone on here has not only told me my opinion is wrong, but that I don't actually believe it.

Trust me I'm not that smart. or perhaps if I am, I wouldn't try to be smart on here. I'm just a middle aged git who would rather win a pot even if it meant having a year off the CL, and think the pot, medals etc.. would give our young squad no end of encouragement. and tha fans something to really celebrate. mind you I'm still hungover from the open top bus parade following the point in Madrid, yeah.

Honestly hate them so much.Their official twitter is still banging on.I watch every game of theirs hoping they will lose lol. If I had to choose between us winning FA cup and them getting relegated it would be a tough call.To see that stadium half empty, and them drift into league 1 would be glorious. From their dwarf dildo selling owners to their green AstroTurf I detest everything about them.
