Fuck em, I'd rather go out in the Quarter Final then Semi or get beat in the Final. I can't see West Ham making it past the next round. They can have their victory and shove it up their arses.

We will beat S'ton - mark my words!

It would have been Man City in the semi, so at least more humiliation has been avoided. Scrub that, losing to this lot is more humiliating...... anyway it would have been the end of the road in this competition

Just got in from the game. Was worried with the starting line up and playing 4-4-2 with Demblee & Siggy in central midfield but thought they did OK. Ade was good hopefully he can keep this form up & have the correct attitude for rest of the season. It will be like having a new player especially when he is fully match fit. Defoe was shocking once again. Thought we played well for opening 25/30 minutes of the game & 10/15 minutes of the second half. No doubt the substitutions changed the game I guess they were all enforced with Ade & Rose lacking match fitness & Townsend getting injured. Our biggest problem barring not having a permeant manager/ head coach is our injury crises in defence We need that rectified ASAP! As for Sherwood while I'm not convinced he is the man for the job permantly I think it's bit unfair to judge him on tonight having only had 2 days to train the team & also the defence & central midfield being ripped apart by injury and suspensions. Also one crumb of comfort we avoided playing Man City at the Ethihad again!

After reading most comments here I wonder if people actually understand football.

Ade and Rose lacked physical fitness from lack of game time.

Our Central defense is weak due to injuries, and a make shift defense in place.

this was a London derby, TS said he needed high tempo, pressing game..meaning no place for saldado and lamela.

TS has just had 2days training with the players and you want a miracle. Shit happen, we lost, we move on.

i am glad as i saw urgency and high tempo game form us which I haven't seen all season.

most of all Ade looked good upfront, possessed a treat, the fans where full of voice, and i enjoyed the game even though we lost.

This. And this again.

So 3 CB's out (Dawson - suspended, Kaboul and Vertonghen injured), Rose just back from inury and 2 CM's out (Paulhino suspended, Sandro injured)..

So that pretty much determined the defence and central midfield, once it was decided to leave Naughton out of LB contension, Capoue had to fall back into the CB position - there were no other fit players for thise positions.

Lloris,
Walker, Capoue, Chiriches, Rose (sub Fryers 62),
Dembele, Sigurdsson or Holtby.

Up front, glad to see Adebayor brought back into the fold. With the change to a fast temo the sekection of Defoe has some logic (although I would have preferred Soldado - but he's not played at that tempo at Spurs) and with Eriksen just back, I doubt if he would have been fit enough. Only real surprise was the complete omission of Lamela, but maybe he was injured in training.

So barring a few tweaks (eg Soldado for Defoe), , the side pretty much picked itself.

So what went wrong :

1. We didn't score when dominant n the first half - perhaps no surprise as under AVB we seem to have had few shots on target.

2. After Adebayor (possibly planned as AVB hasn't played him much so lacks fitness) and Townsend (injured) were subbed, we seemed much less attacking and invited Wham onto us.

The subs were not that bad - I'd have preferred to bring Soldado on, but I cannot see Soldado and Defoe playing well together, so maybe Holtby was a safrer option.

So overall it was not getting shots on target and scoring in the first half that cost us

Probably put the 5 in midfield when Diame came on to strengthen the midfield. Ade hasn't played in a while so probably wasn't 100% fit, same with Rose.

Obviously they were going to attack when we went 1-0 up, and that's when our defence was truly exposed.

Do you want to know we are in this crisis? It's simple; Lamela, Eriksen, and Soldado have not started a single game together yet. They accounted for 2/3rds of our summer spending, are highly talented attacking players, yet we've not seen them start on the pitch together! That is an utter disgrace.

I said before the match that it was a massive mistake not to put all three on the pitch, as well as Holtby, for a home cup game that we really needed to win for the morale of the club. Yet none of them even came on as substitutes (Lamela, as has been the semi-norm, didn't even make the bench).

Sherwood is absolutely NOT the answer. We need someone with a strong personality who will drop the players in our attack who have played tons of minutes this season and produced virtually nothing as far as goals/assists go. That would be Townsend, Lennon, Dembele and Defoe. Eriksen, Soldado, and Lamela should all get a run in the team, with Adebayor also featuring alongside Sandro and Paulinho.

I still have faith in some of the talent we have, but they need a chance to play.

How the fuck did we lose to these ****s. HOW? We were absolutely dominating them and we have now lost to them TWICE at WHL. WHL used to be a fortress- now it is a place for teams to pick up easy points.

You pretty much summed up our season. We absolutely destroy teams in terms of possession and most cases dominate the stats.

But without goals, it's meaningless. We're in the same position as Chelsea. They absolutely batter their opponents yet without goals they lose/draw their games.

Goal wins games, not possession or shots.

If those players don't start until the weekend then this is a valid comment. I'm hoping Sherwood's instead been a clever but unlucky bastard and saved these guys for the weekend.

Can we just sign a defender who knows how to defend please?

Unfortunately signing defenders who are utterly shit at defending is a sort of thing that we excel in

The list of useless defenders that we have bought over the years is both long and depressing......

Young,Lacy Price Metgod Nethercott Scales Fairclough Vega Scales Edinburgh Gordon Smith McAllister Thatcher Perry Calderwood

It really isn't rocket science. Regardless of the injuries what the fuck has eriksen got to do to get a game? If he's fit enough for the bench he starts for me.

Oh, and defoe's offside bonus must dwarf china's GDP, ffs. Canada can't come quickly enough. Levy needs to sort this and quick or we'll be set back years before we can catch up again.
If soldado, eriksen and lamela aren't involved at the weekend then I'm done with this shit. Losing to those fucks at home is unforgivable, even in a season full of unforgivables.

I suspect that this is exactly the case. He knows that the league is the priority so I would expect to see a different team v Southampton.

You obviously love Scales as you mentioned him twice. In fairness, any club's fans could come up with a list of shite defenders that their club has signed over the years. Fully fit, we have a strong defence. So much negativity around. I know we're going through a hard time but people are really wallowing.

People can bang on about how we dominated the game but really what they mean is we dominated pointless possession.

The key stat for me that points to our biggest problem is shots on target.

We had 4 and West Ham had 8 so for all our domination they had twice as many shots on target.

Didn't bother to watch the highlights after hearing the score but none too impressed with the line up when I saw it. I wonder if anyone can answer these 2 questions 1) Why were our first 2 subs full backs, were Walker & Rose struggling/tired/injured? 2) Has any explanation been offered as to why Lamela was not even on the bench.

Overall don't know what to think at the minute. I'm somewhere between 'Oh dear' and 'what the F**8!'

We made West Ham's second string look good last night and really there's no excuse for that no matter how quickly the players 'run about a bit' or how many aimless crosses we sling into the box.

If Jermain Defoe, as good a servant as he's been in his time here, isn't shipped out in January then I'm going to punch someone

The amount of people calling for him to start when Soldado wasn't scoring.

All he seems to know how to do is get offisde.
