Tottenham - when do we get a takeover?

Does anyone else wonder why we seem like the only club that is never the subject of a takeover?

Man Utd
Chelsea
Villa
Liverpool
Man City
Portsmouth
Sunderland
Newcastle
West Ham
QPR

Some of these haven't paid off, and I'm not suggesting - a takeover would necessarily be for the best.

But Portsmouth are rumoured to be on the brink of a mega rich takeover, and Man City a smaller club are now the richest club in the world. Surely, we are (and in relation to City, were) a much more attractive prospect?

I guess Arsenal can say the same, but they owe millions for Ashburton. Chelsea were in debt before they were bought out, and they'll need investment in a new stadium at some point though. Citys owners are also talking about buying the stadium from the council, so I don't think us needing a new stadium is a stumbling block. We're not in debt either.

Just find it surprising we haven't been bought out yet, or even linked to a buy out. Seems very quiet.

We are expensive, on the stock market (so things are much more in the public realm and you arent dealing with one 'owner') and ENIC dont want to sell.

Plus we are one of the few teams that actually makes a profit, so should things go tits up in the world we will be in the best shape.

I don't want the league to end up as Rollerball, for all the money that some clubs have had they haven't been able to mount a proper title challenge. United have been loaded for ages, based on success really.. Arsenal did theirs on the cheap through good football and getting lucky on some high profile sales.. Chelsea burned brightly for 2 seasons.

Both Arsehole and Chelsea got overtaken though. City have the money but they don't yet have the players.

Once everyone gets taken over it puts everything back to how it was before, but with another zero on the end.

why would anyone in their right mind, sell up a consistently highly profitable company, that has vast speculative interests and a formidable portfolio of futures kept under one roof.

lunacy i tell you, lunacy at its finest - dont stress over city, it will go tits up when the incomings dont match the outgoings.

oh joy, the wonderful world of finance.

I'm sure you know that isn't what I mean.

CL money, marketing money, Ronaldo money. Utd is a money-making machine. It's why the Glazers are willing to take on such a huge debt, it finances itself without much hassle and hasn't impacted on the squad at all.

I do understand where you are coming from, but i see from finance eyes and have laid those eyes on utd's accounts and they dont make good reading - for all their commercial/marketing advantages, they are still robbing peter to pay paul and the ronaldo money was largely swallowed by corporate interest only recourse, it may not have had a noticable effect on the squad yet, but it will

Does this mean United will be in the shit in a few years unless they sort it out?

long term, if the situation stays as it is, then yes - the "older" superstars they have now have no longterm financial viability through sale option - if they use more money to cover new star players without having sale money to offset the option, they go into freefall and the outstanding debt rises, added is the loss of revenue from marketing of the big names - in my opinion they had no other option than to sell ronaldo to appease the creditors and simply did not have the money to sign tevez - wait till rooney hits the barn door

Liverpool and Man Utd both clubs with no debt and making a tidy profit. Now they are £100s millions in debt that has to be paid off, this is starting to effect their purchasing powers.

Chelsea and Man City both won the lottery, both deep in the s**t and now well off but, all the money spent is not theirs but their owners which if anything happens to them  the money will have to be paid back to their estates.

At the moment we are being run very well and probably one of the best run teamin the league with profits with where we are, and we are one of the best teas in europe or profis or networth witout being in the CL.

Being taken ovr isall well for the cash bing pumped in, but we do andhave have alot putinto us over the last few seasons with tansfers and a new stadium going to be biult,i would be orred if someone came in with no buisness sense and just wanted to show that theyhad a football team once to then jus get bored and leave us up shit creek

Spurs is the way a top flight football club should be run. If it wasn't for the football ruining CL then our on the pitch results would have improved greatly and we would certainly have achieved more success than we have in recent years.

they could have made alot more than 80 million by marketing ronaldo
(cartoons, electric bikes etc) but knowing how to do this and keeping an ego against his will , will always prove a tad difficult

As much as i hate to say it, it seems that out of the top 4, A5ena1 are the only ones that have some sort of handle on there debt (new stadium). They are doing the sensible thing by buying young and cheap and creating superstars instead of buying the finished article.

If the finances at MU, Pool, Chel and MC are as unstable as Robofan says, then there's an outside possibilty that the top 2 side in the Prem in 6/7 years will be the Goons and Spurs, (with Villa and A.N. Other in close contention)

How tasty would that be!!!?
