We have too many games and lack of depth on the wings to let him go. Lamela isn't setting the world alight and the two new boys haven't settled. He is a Tottenham boy through and through so I think we should keep him for a while longer, and if he does go it should be on loan as I think he could be someone who could return a better player after a run of games!

I don't want players outside the first team to be happy about it, unless they're youth team players. He should want to play and he should be frustrated that he's not getting picked. The question for him is how he reacts, he can knuckle down and out do the others in training so he earns his chance or he can sulk and move to a lesser team. Come off the bench and get winning goals against Anderlecht and the scum and you'll never be dropped again.

He could score a brace against the scum and still the boo boys will hate him.

We can't drop Lamela for Townsend just yet.

More cup matches?
Or ever.. The only reason Townsend is even in the picture is due to the fact he is English. His poor choice in passes, dribbling into dead ends, occasionally out of bounds, or straight into the defender would have him deamed a flop if we had purchased him for abroad.

I can understand his frustration, but he never really seems to grab the opportunities when they come along.

With the level of performance he has produced for us he cannot expect to be selected. Do your talking on the pitch, not in the press. If we get £15 million we can bring in someone who will give us more.

Prefer him as an impact sub. Whenever he starts he just doesn't do enough for me.

I do not dump on anyone who wears our colours. How anyone thinks he is better than Lamela amazes me. In saying that surely he gets a chance in the Euro this week with a huge few weeks coming up. No doubt the talent is there, he has been at the club since a kid so happy to stick with him. If his form improves who knows see Rose, Walker and Mason (in no order).

Thats not likely though is it. We all know how this would play out, he comes on loses possesion alot and then blazes several chances over the bar when theres 4 players in a better position.

Notwithwistanding the fact he's barely scored 2 PL goals for us in his entire career let alone in one game, if he plays well then he'll get support.

I wasn't a fan of Lamela until recently, but I can see that he's finally starting to pull his weight. Not in a Hazard/Bale type way that we hoped, but he's an integral team player now. If Townsend can achieve the same then I'll make the same turnaround on him. He's shown flashes and I think he's capable of it, but I honestly can't see how you think he'll contribute more than Lamela, based on his previous.

His shit, tired of his face and his lack of everything else. Sell him, move on. Would we really be that much worst off without him? We had Lennon coasting along for far too long before we decided to get rid. There's no time for sentiment in the race for Champions League football.

Telling the press your frustrated about playing time is the wrong way to get noticed.
Performaning on the pitch and in training is the way to do it.
He will get his chance but he's got to understand that if the team aren't losing he will have to wait for that chance.
Tracking back and helping the team is something Andros needs to learn and quick if wants to stay at Spurs.

Imo Townsend is as good if not better prospect than Lamela.

Ability maybe. Brain no. Townsend would never have made the last pass to Kane That Lamela did. At this level the differentiator is often the top two inches of your body.

2013-14: 32 Apps & 2 Goals
2014-15: 35 Apps & 5 Goals

And in that time period only 2 assists (if online stats are accurate).

I'm not against the lad and nor do I enjoy sitting next to anyone at the Lane who sits there slagging off any player. But anyone wanting Townsend over Lamela is in my view looking back with rose tinted glasses at the odd Bale-esque strikes from distance.

Townsend, has not done enough in the last two seasons to currently warrant more minutes in a Tottenham shirt, whereas Lamela is currently performing and playing the way Poch wants Spurs to play (despite a shaky start).

For me its a no brainer, Lamela starts and Townsend can play cups. If he wants more, then he needs to adapt his game or ask to leave. If he leaves, then I will wish him the very best as he has been a good servant to the club.

He has not improved at all. Townsend development has all but ground to a halt. There doesn't seem to be a willingness to improve his game in order to be a better player.

Townsend offers very little going forward & his presence seems to just frustrate the hell out of me. There's nothing incisive, dynamic or exciting about his attacking play & his retention of the ball is poor. I hope he is allowed to leave & he can rebuild his career elsewhere.

He has been decisive in winning one game this season when coming of the bench, think it was in Europe.
