I'd be happy to just see the Ticker thread remain throughout the season - maybe maintained via mods being sent the ITK which may have appeared in any number of threads, then they can add to the read-only ticker thread if they think it's decent stuff (source + info).

I'm not even bothered about discussing ITK, I'd just like to have a place to keep up with it outside of the transfer windows. There's still a lot that comes out but it gets scattered about and most of it gets missed.

Brilliant job from Rob, A&C and Co during this transfer window, this is by far my favourite website on the internet,

There have been some excellent ideas but one thing I would say is to improve on what is already an excellent forum you'll need to incorporate the following guidelines:
  1. Ensure it is easy and accessible for ITKers to post their info
  2. Ensure it is easy for people to get the information they want without wading through tons of posts
  3. Ensure it is easy to moderate and keep up to date
I think 3 threads would do it:
  • General Spurs Transfer Discussion: Free for all thread, anything goes, twitter, formations, media links, very lightly moderated.
  • Daily ITK Discussion Thread: Area for GreyFox, Gyid, JJ, Twix, Hercules, ITK Whores (dovahkiin) etc to post up info and other members to comment about it as it is today apart from the following:
    • Heavily moderated, 1 Warning as illustrated by @Rob on @nailsy 's post to keep within the rules
    • GreyFox, JJ, ITK Whores etc get ITK officer banners on their avatars and the background of their post is a prominent colour
    • Ability to filter thread by rating, i.e. Show me posts in thread with "informative" ratings only
  • ITK Ticker Thread: Lose the RO forum and use a dedicated thread only, only mods can post here and place any read-only ITK in this thread. Each post triggers a message onto twitter.
    • Ask for extra mods (transfer forum staff), I would be happy to help out to keep this up to date
I think regardless of the route you take you'll not going to satisfy 100% of people 100% of the time. Maybe we could have a poll with some of the ideas in this thread and we can vote for some of the best ones.

I agree but it's hard to convince the other mods.

We tried yesterday, I made a big deal about allowing tweets from verified journalists or real news organisations.

Within minutes we had tweets from "Swansea Insider".

I had to put up with "I told you so" from A&C all day :p

The bottom line is people are stupid. They can just about manage "no twitter". As soon as it's "some twitter" there's no chance of them getting it right and following the rules!

For my many sins, I've had to run major political twitter accounts, writing the carefully crafted words coming from our elected representatives.

Cards on table, I loathe much of twitter and the fake news & ADHD-addled idiocy it both generates and attracts. But...

Ultimately, twitter is just a medium, like newspapers or telly. The reality of the modern world is that if I, as a journalist or the President of the USA, have information I want to get out quickly and widely, I will tweet the content. The tweet should link to something more substantial than 140 characters, such as a newspaper article or press release. But immediacy and urgency in today's world is originally generated by the tweet.

Are all tweets of equal value? No, of course not.

But we should all bring the same critical insight and analysis to a tweet that we do to any chunk of information, be it a newspaper article by a football correspondent, a radio interview with an ex-player, or a claim of an insider scoop from Harry Hotspur. ;)

Is the source credible and where is their information likely to have come from? What is their track record? Is an agent trying to get a new contract for their client? Is the tweeter a WUM trying to generate traffic who steals from everywhere and makes stuff up?

These are the types of questions we routinely ask about every other piece of information we encournter. Even ITK from the Mighty Goat (which I generally find more credible than even some SC staff members, but still treat with the proverbial pinch of salt). ;)

I entirely understand and respect the views of many SC mods that twitter is an abomination marked 666. But, like Donald J Trump, unfortunately it ain't going away any time soon.

So, with some hesitation, and accepting A&C's "I told you so" reaction, I would still hope that SC can develop a policy of allowing more tweets with the following crucial condition.

We all need to think critically and insightfully about information, The process of analysing and sifiting through claims, discarding claim x and granting claim y some legitimacy after careful consideration and interrogation, is how we navigate the world anyway.

Personally, I think that process improves our understanding of what's going on. So deconstructing a WUM tweet may be frustrating but it also improves our overall knowledge. If we are paying attention....

Many thanks for all the hard work during the window and ever.

1 - To make life easier on mods, an ITK+general transfer thread that has the same leeway to go off on tangents as any other thread.

2 - A locked thread or a summary page that includes all ITK and links, even from dubious sources. Maybe it can be broken into trusted ITK and BS but some people want a quick overview of everything.

I really enjoyed yesterday. How the thread was able to just veer off all over the place. But it was hard to keep up with the actual news, so something like those summaries that the one poster made in a different thread would be ideal IMO.

Thanks to the mods for all the hard work.

Itk ticker thread maybe should remain but it would be a bit redundant to the RO so im not so sure on that.

Definitely should keep open the transfer discussion/wishlist thread thats in Spurs Chat during the season instead of locking it when the transfer forum opens. Maybe just move it in the transfer forum? The shenanigans from the itk thread that always happen would probably end up in this thread, which is where its realky intended to be anyway. Would also take a bit of stress off A&C, Stoof and yourself from moderating the itk thread so heavily.

Twitter from reputable sources should be able to be used to open player threads. I understand the hesitancy but i think people are smart enough to know whats reputable and what isnt.

If there's a cryptic in the ITK forum, can that thread be left open for people to do their guessing there, rather than the daily thread?
At the end off the window (or before if you prefer or the answer is announced), delete everything but the initial post - just for housekeeping.

Top job by everyone, as ever, but I have missed A&Cs crazy introductions/stories this year.

General discussion for transfer stuff and trust in Twitter are two points id back. The biggest problem in this part of the forum is just people being morons. Unfortunately can't do much about idiots and the only shame is you can't respond to tell them they are bloody stupid, because that itself is off topic :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Looks like the idea of keeping the ticker thread open all season is a popular idea. It's a one stop shop for all ITK, can be maintained just by mods, and would only need to be updated now and again as the mods are alerted to news coming in.

Ok, one suggestion was quite easy to implement.

Can you all please take a look and give me some feedback on it.

Any post by Hercules in the transfer forums should now be highlighted in a slightly different colour.

Looks good to me. I think if it were in amongst white posts it would stick out. Because it's the first post on that page, it's not "different" if you get what I mean.

Edit. Much better with border.

Couple of suggestions

1. Agree with previous posts about all ITK going in the read only, if posted as not for RO can the rules be set that this will go in the read only anyway but under another name. I have a vague recollection of the Cobra, this shows the masses that this can be traced to an ITK on the forum if they want to see who said it

2. ITK daily discussion maybe only open when actual ITK is posted in the RO and list the ITK that is being discussed in the opening post. This might keep things on track.
