I like the idea of a general spurs transfer discussion thread during the window, which is less moderated than the ITK thread.

Sometimes I enjoy some of the discussions and banter in the ITK thread so would like more relaxed moderation, but other times I am short on time / focus and just want to see the latest ITK and peoples thoughts on them so the other discussions are an obstacle.

So to me it seems like a separate more general transfer thread would be a way to help with that.

I was thinking about this whole thing earlier, what if the TR forum was split into two parts... one for player threads, one for ITK threads.

Instead of a daily ITK thread, just have a thread for each piece of ITK. That way, no ITK, nowhere to spam and people just return to Spurs Chat to talk about other stuff. Also, you guys don't need to get stressed about people discussing ITK form last week and that spamming a daily thread, because that discussion would be limited to that ITK thread and also to the thread of whichever player(s) it was discussing.

For instance, if JJ decides to post about an Italian player on Monday, and on Wednesday BEN posts about a fast pacy winger, those who still want to talk about the Italian can still do so in the relevant thread without taking away from the fast pacy winger ITK discussion.

Then the player thread for, say, Dybala, can talk about how the Daily Mail have just linked us to him, and that there is JJ ITK which seems to corroborate.

cheers Rob, A&C, the mods, the ITK'ers and super whore dovahkiin for another summer of keeping us fed

love the new idea of ITK'ers being highlighted when they post, kept meaning to ask a request that when posting ITK that they used a different font colour, so this would cover that.

have suggested to A&C before (might of been quite a few windows back now) that the original post he makes in the morning is a sticky on each new page, because if there is 10-30+ pages posted someone whose been at work all day don't like me read every single page, so might click on halfway through in hope to catch up. if there has been a warning on the 1st opening page, then the late comers won't of seen it, where if it was a sticky which has a warning attached, then they would see it on whatever page they chose to view. if a warning has to be issued during the day then update the sticky for those that enter late, decide to read all and don't quote someone well before the issue is highlighted to find out they are now banned because they have gone off topic.

loved the final day ticker thread, as I wasn't able to get involved due to reasons beyond my control, so on a day that might turn out to be a very busy day, with the ticker thread (perhaps a highlighted link to the actual post) so if it's something that really gives you a buzz you can go to that post and read from there, than rather catch up by read 10 pages of not much ITK, but just chat about ITK from earlier in the window.

I've posted this in another thread as this info from @Grey Fox must be disseminated amongst genuine SC'ers.
@Rob again

@Grey Fox
You are legend amongst legends. We will miss you with your insight & knowledge but you must do what's right at the moment if there are ****s about. Hopefully, maybe, you feel you can come back on stream one day with your ITK.

BUT Spurs Community transfer window will be a MASSIVELY reduced place without your knowledge. Please keep posting as a regular fan because your Football insight is respected by many of us.

Moving on from this window and such sad info @Rob, @Archibald&Crooks as well as with the greatest respect to @JJetset, @Trix, @Hercules, @dovahkiin, you guys are also legends here and this TRAGEDY, as that is what this is, must be learnt from as you decide how move this fantastic place forward.

I know there is a thread to discuss the future of ITK & I will endeavour to copy over this post there, but this is the blackest shadow on SC's widow.

God bless @Grey Fox, may you sleep in everlasting ITK peace. I love you.

Lots of sensible comments, the only bit I'd add is around the concern around twitter and people knowing the difference between @AgentITK1234 and a genuine account.

I don't think the mods need to get involved as the community should be able to inform each other who is legitimate and who is a WUM? As soon as someone posts something from a spotty 13 year old pretending to be ITK then everyone else will shout the poster down, basically a form of self moderating?

Anyway, if everything stays the same as it was for this window then I'm a happy camper as I think it was very good indeed - well done to all involved.

I just put it in the itk thread in response to a post about GF retiring as ITK. But i'll put it here too. RO shouldnt automatically go to twitter, IMO. The transfer forums/ro forum should be restricted to be viewed by members only, if it isnt already. Also maybe even restrict the viewing up to a certain number of posts. Would cut down on people solely looking to steal ITK and put it on twitter looking for retweets and likes and the ones that still find its way to twitter, make it easier to find out who the person is doing it so you can ban them.

As soon as ITK is posted it's out there. Putting in arbitrary restrictions is just silly and gives a false sense of security.

Take FTL as an example. It's a closed forum with normally about 30 people online and only 100 in total. Any ITK over there still makes it to here, COYS, etc in minutes.

Any ITK posted should be considered public. Anything else is just naive.

I understand that. Just a suggestion to help
ITK retain some anonymity and not viralness. ITK from other places always make it here first and then it makes its way to twitter so I think if we(by we, i really mean you and other mods since us peasants dont work on the back end or the rules) could figure out a way to even try to minimize the chances of it happening, it would be good. I know that it could just a false sense of security and naïve to think we could stop it, but i also think there are ways to fight it, or at least minimize it, that should be explored.

Either way, its all up to you and the other mods and admins. You make this place great.

One final thing I will add to this thread, if you guys take one suggestion and implement it, i think having a general transfer discussion thread(or at least moving/keeping open the wishlist thread in Spurs Chat) will not only go a long way in making your lives easier and cleaning up the ITK thread, but will also fill a need on this sub forum.

See you all in Spurs Chat until we do this madness again in January. Here's to Spurs turning it around and making this another great season where we perhaps can win some silverwear.

My suggestion is more cerebral than technical... Thereby in essence it's subjective.

I've been a part of this community for a number of years. Seven or eight at least. Every transfer window has been a fun roller coaster of laughter, tears and everything in between. I've always appreciated the willingness of those with insider information to share what they know, and our collective understanding that it should be taken with a pinch of salt. Likewise, I have a lot of respect for the time and dedication the admins and mods put into the site to keep it running smoothly and to also keep things as respectful as possible. Furthermore, I, like many view this place as an essential part of our day. It's a privilege to have this resource, and I have made that appreciation known via paid contributions.

That said, I felt like there was an odd change in tone and intent on the site over the course of this transfer window. This site by its very nature encourages debate and opinion sharing. Sometimes it can get heated, but by and large, it's always been respectful and dignified. However, it felt different this summer. I couldnt help but notice that some comments and feedback was more caustic, confrontational, and cantankerous than in previous years. It could very well be me, in which case, feel free to stop reading. But in all the years I've been on here and posted, the replies and comments back have tended to be friendly, even in disagreement. Yet, this year is the first time I've willfully stopped posting, as I didn't have the energy and patience to deal with the inevitable derisory remarks. In most cases very much uncalled for. I know I'm not alone in this, as I saw many posts from others often treated the same way.

Perhaps it's me. Perhaps it's the politics of the world we now live in has given rise to a lack of conscientious commentary in lieu of caustic chest thumping. Perhaps it's just frustration with the club was higher than usual this year. I dunno. I just know that I love this site and the vast majority of those that use it. The world is a better place for its existence. My concern is more to do with this place going down the same path of a place like COYS. And, I think many on here would agree that SC, for better or worse, is sorta the anti-COYS. Another reason why I adore this forum.

So, this is a very long winded way of saying that I'd love to see us all make a collective effort to be more,respectful and kind in our disagreements as reflected in our response and feedback to others. The last thing we want is to make this a place where many are reluctant to post, in fear of being verbally slapped around.

Everything I share is done so in good faith and an ongoing desire to make our awesome forum the best place to hang during transfer windows and everything else in between.

Spurs forever and always!!
