I have never known a player to move to us as much as vertonghen in recent years. Can anyone else? I'm thinking he might have been offered the captains armband

have not come across a player that wants this move so much and seems passionate about the club already .. you can tell his heads screwed on so i would definitely back him to be our future captain 100%, not this season obviously but 2013/14 season i can see it happening

can we sign him first though please FFS

this was always going to happen with vdv. he has given it 2 years and its time to move on.. he is at age where his boy is school going. his wife obviously calls the shots and she is huge in germany and holland with lots of tv work so im sure she is putting foot down. will be interesting to see how it plays out. replacing mdric and dvd will be tough!! big bucks needed

Sig would just slot into the VDV position if the worst happened, he is more than capable of getting as many goals as vdv, Modric harder to replace

This one extra needs to be someone top class in order for that strike force to be acceptable.

Ade, Defoe, Kane and Lewandowski/Huntelaar/Higuain (lol) / Leandro would be ok!

Just learned that Sylvie Van Der Vaart is pushing Rafa for a return to Hamburg. Seems #HSV could have the money to make it happen. #THFC

I can't imagine it, Hamburg were a decent team when VDV was there but they are absolutely awful now. Almost (should have been?) relegated last season and Arnesen spent a lot last season filling the team with Chelsea reserves rejects.

yeh i wouldnt bring kane in just yet and to be honest from what ive seen of him i havent been that impressed .. not saying thats my final judgement on him but prefer someone else as a 3rd striker

Ade,Defoe (if he stays) ,Remy (or someone else ) and maybe even Coulibaly can get a run in (Carling Cups maybe)

Need someone like Remy or Sturridge - could play in the frontman position but can also play as a wide forward. That way can be part of eg. a 6-man rotation for 4 positions (Ade/Remy/Lennon/Bale/VdV/Gylfi)
Can't have Higuain and Ade unless we'll be playing 4-4-2.

Defoe KANE and Ade ??
not good enough ...
Kane is a dark horse who may surprise but should not be considered a first team striker just yet.

Neither should Defoe. It is mindboggling if we would be interested in selling VDV but not Defoe. VDV does everything Defoe can do but so much more and is about the same age/contract status.

I think Defoe will always be a good option off the bench, Ade you would expect to start as the central striker but there could be more wide forwards to come in that weren't mentioned.

If we were destined for another season of 442 then I would be worried but with AVB's formation I think 'something special' (starting) Ade (rotation) Defoe (bench) and Kane (Europa/CC) looks OK. This is assuming we add to Bale + Lennon as the wide men in front 3. Sig and hopefully VDV have both go goals in them as well

we wont get anywhere with kane and defoe as part of 4 man strike force.. kane is no where near first team and defoe is pants... if adebayor gets injured we cud be in serious trouble.. i wud be all for getting remy in and also leandro and if u cant get him get another in.
