Remind me again, Why has the premiership decided to close the window early, independent to other FAs?

Also, why can’t we just change it by asking for an emergency FA meeting?

Personally I’m glad it closes before season. Never felt like season really started till September previously. Obviously it appears to be causing some issues with dead wood. But tbh apart from some financial implications for club that’s not really my concern. Every PL club is in same situation. My only real concern would be a club like barca coming for Eriksen once window is shut and causing disruption. At least once first ball is kicked we more or less know our squad.

Even if you had an emergency vote you'll probably need a 14-6 vote to overturn it, and it's not going to happen as there'll be at least 7 clubs against it because they've done their business early such as Arsenal, Liverpool, West Ham, Leicester, Brighton, Huddersfield, Wolves etc.

If we voted in favour of changing it, which I believe we did, we can't just conveniently change our mind because it suits us.

We helped to get ourselves in this mess, so that's our fault. Not up to the FA to intervene and help us out.

I hate transfer windows. Obviously they are needed but every window people forget about the football and think progression is based simply by how much is spent.

Once the season starts I am excited to see how ready the players are for the new season.

But every year once the season gets going all most people are talking about is transfers and who to replace.

So i am happy this year that once the season starts we can just concentrate on the football.

Look at the discussion about on this forum.

We could be talking about how we have a great squad coming off three consecutive seasons finishing top three . We could be discussing how we have a number of young players coming off a successful World Cup.

But no it is just whining about who we haven’t signed and how much we are likely to spend.

It was a poor decision as premier league players can still be unsettled by foreign clubs until the end of August. Perhaps selling players should be prohibited also in the last two weeks of August.

No, even if it turns out we made a terrible decision and it does nothing butput us at a significant disadvantage compared to the rest of the world, the clubs have spoken and transfer window means transfer window.

Im glad its going to be over ina couple of weeks. The transfer window is frustrating for a spurs fan so i'll be glad we dont have to wait until end of august.

I thought it was a good idea if others did similar, but they haven't which puts us at a disadvantage if someone comes in from Europe for one of our players & they want to go, we'll have no chance to replace them.

Mind you, I think Levy still thinks he's got to the end of Aug to do the deals.

On the flip side, European clubs will know we won't be able to replace them and therefore we either won't sell or will massively overprice them.

One can look at the negatives of the transfer window for British clubs closing before European clubs. The double bluff in negotiations can work to our favour also its the last chance saloon for European clubs to get a pay cheque and they may be forced to deal at a reasoned price.

With hindsight it was a poor decision. As others have written, I think the PL chairmen assumed the other leagues would follow. I reckon there was so much support from the managers to get it closed before the season started that they took their eye off the ball when weighing it up. I could even imagine a few chairmen outlining the risk to their managers/coaches and then giving them a strong input/final say and the managers/coaches pushed their chairmen to support it.

Honestly think it will make very little difference as the deals that are possible and doable by both parties will still get done and the ones that aren’t won’t. It will still come down to deadline day.

Think other leagues will follow suit. Dunno why people are worried, we wont sell anyone we don't want to once our window is shut or for a price we deem too low.
The turkish transfer was open later than ours last year allowing us to loan janssen for £6m (if i remember correctly).

If there was a vote, we would probably leave it to the last second to vote, turn up late and miss it anyway

We always seem to want to find excuses and scapegoats for our own ineptitude. Even if the window closed on New Years Eve, we’d still find a way to fuck ourselves over. There’s no reason in the world why we shouldn’t be able to get our business done by the end of the window. Literally EVERYONE else is doing so, so why not us?
