So....

Is there no way to get tickets for the Liverpool match because of the "restricted sale" put forth by the Metropolitan Police? What a bummer. Is there something I am missing? Secondary market?

Coming over for a few games that week, we are big Premier League fans.

BTW, getting tickets for PL games (from the USA) is an absolute nightmare, never expected it to be like this. WOW.

Any help, comments, suggestions are very welcome.

It's just restricted because it's very close to selling out. Are you a member? If so you'll be able to get tickets, just probably not in the "best" place in the stadium.

Nearer the match you'll be able use the ticket exchange as I suspect some season ticket holders will be giving up their seat, but you'll need to be checking very frequently as I can't imagine a seat will stay on sale for long and it's always first come first served

It's a restricted sale put forth by the metro police - so they told me. No tickets of any kind to non-members AND you had to be a member before Sept. 1st. I would have gladly done this (as we've known about our trip for months) but it was not posted very clearly on the website IMHO.

We really want to visit Wembley on our trip. Spurs customer service told me this in the only fixture like this, so just pick another match. LOL, yeah...

Is getting a ticket outside the stadium from a tout "frowned upon" or "illegal and strictly enforced"?

Thanks again for any help.

The next round of the League Cup is scheduled for the midweek after the Liverpool game.

If we beat Barnsley tomorrow and get a home draw that might be your answer.

Wish we could go then, but only in town until 23rd.

Any other suggestions out there? What is it like getting tickets outside the stadium on game day?

really not a problem mate

Either from a friendly man offering - or often in the pub too, invariably there are a few guys whose mates not turned up or whatever who have a skate in their back pocket looking to offload it

That said - that may be less prevalent now with the tickets being loaded onto access cards come to think of it

It's technically both illegal AND frowned upon, but there are always plenty of people selling tickets and you're not going to get arrested or anything - the police have bigger things to be sorting out than all that nonsense so I wouldn't worry. May as well try your luck on the day if you can't find one in the meantime. If possible, I'd try and see if you can find someone whose just got a spare because a friend couldn't make it etc. rather than a tout/"scalper".

@Kris Ock

Have you thought about doing a really heavy begging letter direct to the club ?

Once in a lifetime chance blah blah ?

Yes I did, actually 2. One to the ticket office, and one to customer service. Same response from both: Order of the Metro Police, blah, blah, blah. We can't sell any other tickets...pick another game...all pretty disappointing, knowing that we are just coming for a once in a lifetime trip, are happy to pay, and happy to following whatever rules they give us.

It's restricted because there are a lot of Lolerpool fans that live in the South East who are likely to try and get in amongst our fans.

We are Premier League fans, but definitely won't be rooting for Liverpool in this one. We are trying to hit games with Tottenham (Wembley is a bonus!), West Ham/Brighton, and up in Manchester (City/Burnley). Not easy being PL fans in the U.S., but we are hooked! We want to get to as many games as we can. (Maybe not Chelsea - lol)
