The 27-year-old created as many chances (6) as the rest of the England players combined (6) and more chances than all Tunisia players combined (4).

I think we (Spurs) look so much more solid with a back 3 and it suits Trippier to be able to get forward. He's a real threat going forward but didn't look anywhere near as effective for us when we swithced to a back 4 last season. He looks vulnerable as a conventional RB IMO.

But...but...but... Tottenham players will let England down and will be the reason we won't win! The only reason we won that game and Kane scored twice is because the presence of the mighty Liverpool players were an inspiration!

To be fair, Hendo played so many sideway and backward passes it clearly wore them down until finally at the end they were done for.

If England had played more down the right instead of the left Trippier could of had a field day. Great performance and MOM even though Kane saved us.

I dislike Henderson with a passion but I thought he had a decent game for once. Ashley Young on the other hand ...

He had a decent game, I was just joking with my comment. I think he played a bit too safe for my liking though. He needed to be a bit more ambitious with his passes and get it forward quicker. Particularly in the 2nd half where he passed back and sideways a bit too much.

Wow a whole 18 seconds worth

It’s a Twitter clip, not a documentary.

Point is “If the aim of the game was to pass to his own defenders he'd be the best in the world” is nonsense, which is what I was responding to.

He played a couple of lovely first time balls, only reason he didn’t have an assist was bad finishing from others, got things going regularly, was tidy as hell - 64 passes, 84% complete, didn’t lose a duel. He is effectively vice captain and does the actual directing and organising too as Kane is focused on scoring.

Lampard singled him out for praise on BBC as did most of the broadsheet journos as England’s 4th best player behind Trippier, Kane and Loftus-Cheek. He had a good game.

I too am not a Henderson fan but if people can’t appreciate when someone who doesn’t play for Spurs has a decent game? Well...

There is also another stat. Since 1966, the only player to create more chances in one game than Trippier was David Beckham.

That literally shows one good long ball forward, one ball out wide to a completely unmarked man and a long shot straight at the keeper.

If those are the best clips a biased Liverpool fan can find to prove that Henderson offers an attacking threat, I'd argue they've just proven that he doesn't.

Henderson perfectly sums up England on the whole for the last few tournaments. He always looks like he's more concerned about not making a mistake and keeping his pass percentages high than actually contributing to chance creation.

Think you’re analysing the man rather than his performance.

And that twitter clip was literally grabbed to address one point, not attempting to support the rabid Scousers. Pretend it’s from the BBC and has a really dull, inoffensive tweet around it and read the comment it was addressing. It’s there for the video, not the feed quote

As I say, if you were talking generally I’d agree, but not against Tunisia. He was decent. I feel if he played for Everton and he wasn’t going against Dier for a place, this wouldn’t even be a conversation

I like him, I think he had a decent game but nothing more. He did show he is capable of penatrating balls forward. I personally think he needs to show it more often. His stats may look good but that's because he plays it safe so of course he will complete most passes. Also not sure many duals were lost in midfield against a team who primarily defended and couldn't hold onto the ball. I think when he does show urgency he's a very strong player for us but it just seems like he plays a bit within himself. For a vice captain I expect more willing to command a game in that position rather just directing.

He's the anchor shielding the defence and recycling possession. He isn't Pirlo. Why should he be judged on his attacking threat?

We prefer Diers sideway and backward passes..........:)
Definitely not much in it between the 2 of them. Although in defence of both of them they're lacking a Scholes around them in the England team.

The lengths that people go just to criticise a player because he plays for a rival team, utter nonsense :D
