Trust/Club survey - League Cup Third Round venue

Apparently the club have asked the Trust to help consult on what we should do if we're drawn at home in the League Cup. Wembley isn't available so it'd be a choice between flipping the tie and playing it away, or finding an alternative "home" venue for the night.

Difficult.

They are asking the fans but the main thought in my mind is :

"Does the club want to win the damn thing this year?"

If "Yes" then whatever it takes, no half measures.

If "No" - play the kids but don't expect fans to dig deep and spend their hard earned corn to watch half arsed attempts in an unloved - by some - trophy.

Personally I very much want to win it this year. Obviously all the normal stuff about giving the squad that experience, trophies in the cabinet, the glory of the game. But also the fact that if we don't win anything this season, the 2010s will be our first trophyless decade since the 1940s. So I've gone for a "home" venue - even if it's not somewhere we'll bring many fans it surely gives us a better chance than letting the opposition have home advantage.

As long as it’s accessible to fans at a fair price and the football itself is taken seriously I don’t care where it is.

Can't we just use the London Stadium. West Ham don't appear to need it to play football.

we never used to fill the Lane out for an early League cup game, so no need to help finance their rent. hopefully we will be drawn away and save the hassle

Was joking innit.

Wouldn't want to play in that shitehole more than required.

X amount for a match ticket and another 50 quid for a half decent set of binoculars to see the feckin game.

Ooooh no.

Depends on the opposition. If it's a league 1 or 2 side, play at their joint. Let's be generous

Hopefully we’ll be drawn away. Completely against a 3rd “home” stadium. 2 is one thing. IMO, 3 is absurd and will only draw more scrutiny and questioning from fans, league, fa and other clubs. If we’re drawn home, flip the tie. I dont care about the opposition. It’s the fucking carabao cup early rounds. No manager in the PL would play there strongest team at this stage of the season.

All pointless if the team we are drawn against rejects playing elsewhere. Just hope we get drawn away against a lower tier side personally.

Why don't we try and use Brisbane Road? We've played reserve team games there before and I bet the owners would be happy to earn some much needed money.

Let's make history, play it in Dublin

Can already feel the negative ratings
That's a precedent I really wouldn't want to set. If we play a LC game abroad in exceptional circumstances it's a matter of time until someone wants to do it when there's no particular need and they're just trying to cash in.

I'm lucky enough to be able to go to most matches home and away... but going to Australia for an early league cup tie is a stretch too far.

Took part, I say play away, hopefully, it's a lower league side and we help with a payday!
