UEFA should scrap the Champion's League and the UEFA Cup - and create a European Super League. The top 5 and any domestic Cup winners should go into the Super League.

This would help to close the gulf between each country's rich clubs, and their domestic counterparts.

E.g. Manchester United would be batting at the same post as a team finishing 5th or a FA Cup winner.

Everyone has a shot at the same prize so to speak. Ten years down the line, it would make for a far more interesting Premiership.

Or the same six dominating every year and the other 14 teams competing to be the best of the rest, it's so difficult to try and balance everything in the spirit of fairness, there doesn't seem to be any clear, problem-free solution.

poor poor name, and copying the CL makes it appear even more the poor little sister of the CL.

UEFA cup is dross until the knockouts and then I feel it does rival the CL because the level of football is generally very good and it gives good sides like ourselves, Sevilla, Fiorentina, Atletico etc level sides the chance to showcase that there is great quality in euroe beyond the top 4 and the big 3 leagues.

Im a supporter of the Uefa Cup because this CL hype bollocks gets on my bloody nerves, CL is all hype, there have been a few better quality knockout games in the UEFA than CL in past few years

So, if this happens, what happens to the Inter-not-in-kansas-anymore-Toto cup then? I mean, as far as i can tell, the only way you can qualify for that is to actually not be good enough to qualify for anything else? Am i close?

'European soccer's governing body Uefa is considering the name change as it seeks to reverse a feeling it has become 'a second class competition'.

It is a second class competition. No name change will alter that.
