That's because they focus on the league but have the squad to be able to win the cups aswell. We can only afford to focus on one thing at a time. Just need to accept we won't win the league and chuck what we've got at the fa cup/champions league.

I'll then go spare when poch rests players against West Ham in the league :cautious:
We're only in the CL because we take the league seriously, and to the owners the FA/League cup dont mean shit.

For what it's worth I would welcome owners who could have that spending power as long as we still invest in the academy and not lose sight of the identity of the club.
The only way we could be serious competitors in the long term is to have owners like Roman the Russian or an oil sheikh and to think otherwise is pure romantic notion that died out as soon as the EPL was formed.
This is the unfortunate truth.

Modern football though. Our new bowel will be a soulless mess with tourists and their periscopes (@Gb160 ).

Ye I get that. I'm not fussed about being in cl if we're not going to try to win it.

Anybody that wants Poch fired deserves to get in a time machine back to 1990 and watch the 90’s version of Spurs for all eternity. We’ve had a little bump in the road this season. It happens. We’ll still finish in the top 4 and could easily win the FA Cup and make a deep run in the Champions League. People need to remember where we’ve come from and that it takes time to build a consistent winner without billions in oil money behind your success.

Exactly this (not to mention much of the early 2000's). 3.5years is a solid run in the PL for a manager but i think he's taken us up a massive level in that time. To make the next step up - titles and regular silverware takes a little more time, effort and consistency. I for one would happily give him time to build that.

We've had a bad couple of games in the league, there's still much to play for and a chance in Jan to potentially add/organise the team.

He's key for me - we can lose players in the next couple of years but MP is key to our continual strength and growth, regardless of playing squad changes.

If we believe we're going to win nothing under Poch we might as well pack up, turn the lights off and go home. If we don't win with him, we won't win with anybody else.

Last season we went 10 games without a victory.

It turned out alright.

Sit tight, have faith, and in Poch's words, be brave.

Poch desperately wants to win. In his book there's a bit where he agrees with Levy that winning something with Tottenham will be a far greater achievement than winning something if he was at Real Madrid. He's invested in the club. He wants it. The majority of the players will look to leave if he goes. We can't even contemplate it happening. Back Poch once, twice, a hundred times over.

The question in the title of this thread is wrong.

It is true that, as yet, we have won no trophy's under Poch, but you cannot say whether it is true or false that we will, or will not, win anything under him. To say definitively one way or the other requires an ability to see into the future. To ask if we agree or disagree would be a more legitimate question and may actually result in a more reasoned debate than hitherto!

If you look at our elevation in the past 3years, coupled with our net spending or overall spend relative to peers, it shows that with our asset value, what Poch has done will reverberate through the next 2-3 decades IMO.

If not for Poch we might, quite likely, have needed a couple of £50m injections into the squad.

If not for Poch our current and next sponsorship deals would be hugely lower.

As I grow older I more long for that one moment of magic for the club like a Prem or CL win, but agree with those who feel it would be empty with a bankrolled owner coming in.

Happy to give Poch another 5years, think he might have had enough by then, but hopefully he can build a self sustaining empire.

Poch calm & rational in his presser just now, as I'd have expected. A good test for him, this. And while he's under pressure for sure, the idea he's under pressure for his job is so farcical it doesn't warrant comment.

Before the money clubs came in though wasn't it?
Besides, if you'd rather go back to watching the shit we had to watch weekly in return for a good day out at Wembley twice per decade then good luck to you mate.
