Lucas has a different skill set to Son. I'd start Lucas over Son every time.

That does not mean Son is bad - on the contrary, I love Son, and think he adds a lot to this squad. But if I prefer Dele-Eriksen-Lucas in terms of flexibility, creativity, and goals.

I actually think they compliment each other well.

If you were to take a poll - and ask people if they could sell only one player from Spurs, who would it be? Sissoko would be the run-away winner.
Don't think you got the logic of the thread mate, it's not on personal preference of players, but in rank of importance, and Sissoko has played in most matches this season, whilst Gazza has played once.
Also the reason why Son should be higher, as his goals have been crucial to us, whilst Lucas has yet to prove his full worth and place in the team yet. Even Poch said post match yesterday how important Son is.

I wouldn't argue too much with that line-up - but Dele is going to factor in there somewhere. He brings a bit of attitude and confidence that is often overlooked, but is important.

So, for me I'd take Dele-Eriksen-Lucas over other combinations.

Again - this is not to say other combinations are bad, or would not work - I think we are arriving at a great place with Dele, Eriksen, Lucas, Son and Lamela all capable of playing at a world-class level.

No - I get the logic - its my opinion of who is undroppable - and Sissoko is eminently droppable... the most droppable player in the squad...

Okay, but your logic of Son is still poor, our second top scorer lesser importance than someone who has started twice?

I personally feel Dier is potentially droppable, if we have Toby and Victor fully back etc, not that Poch would however.
In which case I'm not sure you understand the tactics that Poch tends to use.

Dier is quite possibly the most important person in the side for what Poch expects from the side. Dier gives the side the option to seamlessly switch between an almost infinite amount of different formations. More so than any other player. He may not be the greatest in any of the positions that he can play in, but he is better than every one else in be able to do so adequately. He can play any position in a back 4 or even a back 5, as well as being able to play all positions across the midfield. He also does not look entirely out of place when he finds himself in the oppositions box.

My logic is quite sound. I love Son. I had his photo as my avatar for a long time.

I would start Lucas over Son. On my list, Son is the top of the "subs" - I would play him every single match. I would play him ahead of Llorente when Kane needs a rest. But, I would start Lucas - and his ability to break down teams on the dribble, and spot the pass, over Son's ability to drive at goal, and hit fantastic shots.

All opinions fella but Lucas cannot rank higher in terms of importance to the squad than Son as Lucas has not had the chance to prove his importance yet unless we are setting our importance barometer at a couple of matches against Rochdale...he has it all to prove.

Are we talking about the past or the future?

Both are very important to the future. But, I rate Lucas slightly ahead of Son. It does not hurt my feelings if anyone rates Son over Lucas.

Surprised there isn't more love for Victor in this thread

I know he's still getting back to fitness and form, but 2016-17 Victor was immense!

Does it make much of a difference? In terms of at this very minute importance to Spurs it has to be Son. I get you rate Lucas higher than Son but i think that its impossible that Lucas is more important than Son as he has not done anything to suggest he is?

Like i said rating of a player is subjective but importance to the squad there has to be some tangibles and Son has loads of those even last night he scored 2.

I'd say Kane is our best player. Kane or Dembele is really the only answer to that question.

Eriksen is by far our most important player though. He's the only player currently in the squad where if he got hurt we couldn't replace. If he got seriously hurt our season would be over.

Back-up keeper - capable of being a PL-level starting keeper >>>>> backup LB

And right now - Rose is behind Davies.

GKs rarely get injured/rotated

Rose when fit is the best LB in the league where rotation with Davies is vitally important. One is valued at next to nothing and the other valued at 50m

I probably thought the same thing about a couple of months ago.

But, since then, Lamela has continued to get fit and back in form and find his confidence, and we signed Lucas. I feel more confident today, that we could replace Eriksen in the line-up. Not that I'd want to - he is my 2nd most important player - but we are in a better spot today, than we were at the end of December.

Again - picking 3 of Eriksen, Dele, Lucas, Son, Lamela - all of them are capable of world class performances. There are a number of combinations that can be successful.

It's got to the point now where it's Eriksen +2 and I don't care who the other two are.

Which is brilliant compared to how we were a couple of years back.

As for undroppables - Kane, Eriksen and Vertonghen. Dembele probably as well but only because of Winks (and Dembele's for that matter) recent form.
