According to reports in a Lancashire evening paper. SAF is to make a bid for JD in the January transfer window.
This rumour has been about before but was swept under the carpet when the whole Berbatov to united thing came along. Are United resigned to the fact they wont get DB now, Would JD go. I think he would, for a player struggling to get into the squad would the temptation of old tafford be to much. Dont forget we got JD in the january window so a move is not tottally out the question. On the other hand this could again be complete rubish made up by the press !!!
Will Spurs want to take a gamble on losing JD for nothing when his contract runs out or will they take the cash & run?

United to swoop for Spurs £10m striker
Sir Alex Ferguson has set his sights on a January swoop for misfit striker Jermain Defoe.
Fergie wants Tottenham's ex-West Ham striker to fire Manchester United ahead of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in the title race.

Defoe has dropped to fourth choice at White Hart Lane and only has 18 months left on his contract.

According to The People, Fergie has been a long-admirer of the striker who came off the bench in England's dismal Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia

So Man Utd are going to spend £10m on our "fourth choice striker" who only has 18 months left on his striker? And Defoe is going to want to move from Spurs and London up north to be fourth choice striker up there instead? Yeah, right. Bullshit article.

I am sure you would take 10mill.

We will be lucky to get 5 or 6. Plus I dont think JD will go as it looks like Ramos is going to rotate our strikers properly.

Why not get Kaka whilst were out there :rofl:

Hold on. Don't laugh. He didn't say what he would do with the change. Ronaldinho is off form, so his value must have dropped. Offer them 5 million.

There's also paper talk about SAF making Tevez's £10m loan move permanent by paying a further £20m. If that is made permanent, then possibly Saha could be offloaded to make way for a move on Anelka, as Bolton seem resigned to him leaving. That leaves this story - which doesn't seem to stack up....unless Rooney is going to be offered in p/x!!!

There is no way this is true. If anything United will be looking for a Berbatov/Bent-like player, as their strikers are both already considered too small.

I'd take the cash - feel Defoe needs a change of scenery and feel Keano-Berbatov should be our first choice leaving young Bent to cover.

We could use the cash towards our more pressing need of a quality DM and then maybe look at either bring the 'yoof' through or purchasing a cheaper forward purely as cover.

I don't want us to sell Defoe (or any of our stikers) but as Ramos has said - if they want to leave then we should take the cash - £10m is a decent amount for Defoe.

I think it's time to let him go. He's good cover for when Keane is rarely injured, but for him personally he's talented enough to be starting every PL game. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen in a Spurs shirt when we have Keane, Berbatov and Bent ahead of him.

As good as he has been and as well as he's reacted to all the pressure and grief he's had, I think we should sell now.

He doesn't look the same player, he has lost his desire and we're not helping him at all. 10mil would be spot on and I think it'd leave us in a more positive position.

The shit we've had from everyone about having 4 class players up front needs to be sorted, and this is the only way. Give Bent a chance, he's not a bad player at all.

Swap for Carrick?? ;)
