I'd rather Gudjohnsen than RVN. A great player with a bit of intelliogence. If Pav's off then this could be good. But I still can't help feeling we are being used to push through the West Ham deal.

i know its wikipedia but it already says he plays for us & interestingly that he wears number 9!!

thats pavs number

Beckford had a mare away at Swindon in League 1 last night. Why do you think he'd be good enough for us?

At least Gudjohnsen is proven.

you presumably didn't watch the games at OT and the Lane

i said a player like beckford BTW - it may well be we can't get him - but he's the type I'd like - and if he was available at the right price etc I think he'd be an excellent 3rd/4th striker for us - depending on pav/keane's situation which i find hard to keep up with

incidentally - i do agree with the bit about irritating the hammers :)

while i don't see EJ as the player we need - it's always nice a la Bent to nick a player off them :)

If Yidio says not a Pav replacement, then Keane to West Ham? They are after strikers and i am sure they were linked with him just after Gold and Sullivan took over.

He always was a poor man's Zola as well!

am underwhelmed - but as others have said if he's relatively cheap, hwe may be worth the gamble

to me we need someone up front like beckford with some pace and goals in him

if eidur isn't to be a striker - seems to me we still need one - unless pav is going to the proverbial 'like a new signing'

We had one with pace and goals DC, his name was Darren Bent but we don't play that way so it was pointless for all concerned.

Well pleased with this proper Berbatov replacement and he's still only 31. Experienced pro who has won stuff and on a free

and if that don't make you happy well just think about how we stole him from the spammers after he already had a medical there

I think we have to get our heads around the fact that he's not coming as an out and out striker - more of a Stephen Ireland type player.

Glad some other people can see this. Redknapp even said after the Fulham match that he is wants him because he is "an interesting player tactically" and can play a number of different roles for us.

realistically though, when everyone is fit i cannot imagine a bench with; Kranjcar, Keane and Gudjohnsen. all a bit too similar so maybe it is Keano on his way...
who would want him thoug (that would not be too much of a step down) Liverpol :) Villa? Celtic couldn't afford to buy Keane's name for the back of Samaras' shirt (it is 5 letters!) Birmingham? that's all i can imagine would be interested (Villa & Brum)

SPURS boss Harry Redknapp has snapped up Eidur Gudjohnsen.

Striker Gudjohnsen, 31, has agreed a loan deal until the end of the season subject to a medical this morning.
Tottenham will pay £30,000 a week with Iceland hitman Gudjohnsen's club Monaco making up the rest.
The former Chelsea star has snubbed West Ham to join Spurs.
Choice Redknapp revealed: "We've been talking about him for nearly two weeks and when we heard West Ham were interested we made our move.
"We are not paying a penny more than West Ham were offering him.
"Two identical deals were on the table. In the end it was a straight choice for Eidur."
New Hammers co-owner David Sullivan rapped: "We thought we had a deal and the player had even had a medical. I can't say I am happy about it."

Finally a player that Redknapp likes and will probably play...that adds REAL depth to our squad. Now we can have a sub's bench with players who Redknapp is willing to bring on.

Still can't see where he'll play or who he'll replace but he was a gd player and a winner though. Loan deal is gd for us as he's already 31.

You didn't mention Sunderland who might be really interested in Keane if they lose Jones.
Just can't see Harry selling him.

Guys, who's seen him play lately? His stats are woeful as per goals, so can't see him as a better option than Crouch/Keano/Pav up front, nor as an alternative to Kranjcar/Modric/Lennon or even Bentley-

I guess it's gonna be CM/AM, maybe in particular useful if we ever go 4-5-1 again? However, he'd then have to compete with Jenas and Kranjcar/Modric for a place on the bench (as Palacios/Hudd clearly are first choice). The only thing that makes sense is that he's replacing Jenas as 3rd/4th choice CM (depending on whether or not they still see Modric as an alternative there..)

Stupid signing if true. 4 strikers at the club already, what does he add? Yes he is on a free but so what? Let's address key areas like goalkeeper and centre midfield as a priority not sign a player who has no form and some believe can do a job in the middle.......

Interesting one, still not sure how I feel about this. Seems to be 60/40 positive on the forums, as long as we use him from the bench often enough who knows. Still desperate for a gk and cb.

Very happy if true. Think he would be a good influence going in the second half of the season. He'll push a number of players for places and he's a winner and an established name.
