SEC overrated! LOL. Last 5 winners of the bcs? Auburn, Bama, Florida, LSU, Florida. And except for last year, they were all big margins. The QBs look good because they are up against terrible defenses.

I agree that Bama might well drop below Oregon in the rankings as they can't play a championship game. I dont think that Oregon will be a more decent match for LSU. 3 point game at the end of OT says it all.

Your saying Andrew Luck and Matt Barkley are only considered to be next two No 1 NFL Draft picks because the Pac-12 has terrible defences.

I might as well say that SEC defences look good only because their offensives are terrible.

Andrew Luck is a great player, no doubt. But they definitely look better because of the lack of competition. Luck had one hard game this year, and did not play well. Threw a pick in the first couple of minutes. It's not hard to look good when you're up against bad teams. The SEC schedule is harder, more powerful, more draining. Last 5 years of Heisman winners, 3 were SEC, and everyone knows Tebow should have won a second.

The SEC offences are definitely not terrible at all, hence them trouncing non-conference games (see LSU/Oregon - Bama/Penn State, Arkansas/Texas AnM). The type of offences that they run is much more NFL orientated - i.e. running concentrated. NFL is a different type of game to college ball, you dont have to be a great college player to succeed in NFL or vice versa.

I think trying to argue that the SEC isnt by far and away the best conference is a losing battle. In having the best conference, you're constantly up against the best, which means that games are harder, which means that the opposition will be doing their best to make you look weak, which in turn means that you will struggle and not look good. LSU will be national champs, theres no doubt, and the only way they might not win it, is if they face bama.

How do you get that the SEC is more similar to the NFL than the PAC-12? The SEC is a completely different style to the NFL, which in part is why it has become so successful over the last 6-7 years. Just look at Tebow, great college player in the system that Urbsn Meyer set up, but an absolute dire NFL player. Thr majority of the PAC-12 plays pro-style offense. The last two college coaches to become NFL head coaches came from the PAC-12, the SEC's top current coach failed in the NFL. Urban Meyer is linked to every open top college job in the country but is never linked to any NFL coaching job.

True, Urban ran a spread option that is not NFL at all, but Charlie Weis, who won 3 superbowl, is implementing a pro-style.

The defenses are stronger and faster in the SEC than any other conferences, which is more similar to the pros.

How are Matt Leinart & Vince Young doing? Tebow just started, a QB needs at least 3 or 4 years to get to a pro level. Pete Carroll only had to go to the NFL because he fucked things up so much as USC (sanctions/reggie bush).

Final point, you started mentioning the NFL draft and the pros. The college game and the pro game are two totally different entities. Brett Favre went to southern miss, Aaron Rodgers went to Berkely, steve mcnair went to alcorne state, jerry rice went to mississippi valley state.

The college game and the pro game are sufficiently different so that you can't draw good inferences from both. If we're talking college ball, stick to college ball.

OSU lost to Iowa, I looked at one point they were 10-0 up and I stoppoed paying attention, bit of a shocker.

Alabama will probably go 2nd next Wednesday, Oregon 3rd, Oklahoma 4th, still don't think Alabama will play National Championship game so it will be a toss up between Oregon and Oklahoma.

Of course Arkansas could beat LSU and then everythings fucked.

I can understand and to a certain extent support oregon, and their argument is pretty strong (losing the first game of the season, teams change etc) AND they'll be playing an extra week, but Oklahoma - no. they're out of it, they lost to texas fucking tech.

I don't think Oklahoma are out of it. 'Bama's playing Georgia Southern, which isn't going to help there votes or with the computers and then they've got Auburn. Oklahoma are playing a ranked Baylor team, Iowa State and then another ranked team in Oklahoma State. Also, they're helped by not having played LSU this season. A lot of the media and fans don't want to see a re-match at the national championship, just look at Michigan-Ohio State.

The problem now for Alabama is their much praised defense just gave up 21 points to an FCS team while their strength of schedule just took a beating. Florida was their 3rd strongest opponent this season and they had a scare today against another FCS team. Alabama should be grateful that the Big 10 is so even as Penn State have qualified for the championship game, otherwise their opponents have been Tennesse who have been unable to score a 2nd half point in their last 5 games, Ole Miss who sacked their Nutt last week or so and Auburn who have fallen from grace since Newton left.

In fact had they not beaten Arkansas I don't think they would be ranked in the top 10. If Oklahoma can win their last 3 games I think that they will end up 2nd, beating Oklahoma State should bump them above who ever Oregon face in the PAC-12 final which due to USC's exclusion could be against a 7-5 team at best.

 LSU are having to knee with over 5 mins left in the 4th quarter in order to not run up the score. Ole Miss are so shit that they struggled to stop the 5th choice running back.

 I can see the computers going into a meltdown if things stay the same. Virginia Tech might be in with a shout of the National Championship game.

Urban Meyer denies on air on ESPN about talking to Ohio State, two hours later ESPN confirms that Meyer is talking to Ohio State.

and they did it on the 1 yard line. Classy move really, Nutts already lost his job no need to rub it in.

Revenge for '07 & '09.

It was a damned if you, damned if you don't moment. If LSU scored again then the media would be whining about Miles running up the score.

He'll take the job, it's his dream job. While at Utah and Florida he had a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave if Ohio State came calling.
