It's got teething problems for sure, but if they can get it right & it stops obvious mistakes then it can only benefit the game.

I'm for it, people just need to be patient and it will sort itself out and people will start to get uses to it.

I get the patience aspect but it's frankly ridiculous that we get VAR footage like the awful line-drawing we saw yesterday when we already have football analysis equipment that can successfully draw straight lines that match up with the pitch in literally seconds.

I just don't understand what sort of equipment VAR uses when every half decent sports production bus already has exactly what you need.

EDIT: To clarify, I am largely pro-VAR and wouldn't have had a problem with it if there were "teething problems". But what we're seeing now is worse than teething problems, it is staggering incompetence that is using bad or already outdated tech.

If people think it’s a farce now, wait till the World Cup. Isn’t it being used there?

You just know that will be an utter disaster.

Fundamentally I am in favour of VAR but with the way they've implemented it so poorly, seemingly without thinking anything through properly, I'm worried that it's going to end up falling on it's own sword. Making such a botch job of it they're just giving ammunition to the anti-VAR camp.

I used to think this was a good idea. I've changed my mind.

In it's essence it is a good idea, but the execution has been absolute cow tits.

It's been overused, over hyped, over scrutinised - it should be there for the ref to talk to if he's not sure on a critical decision. Granted, goals are critical, but if there is no dispute like with Lamela's opener then he shouldn't have to use it.

Not hard, really, but while the whole system is still "under review" then they're going to want to push it hard to see if it works. Hopefully, though my faith is thin, this is a good example for the review panel that referring every goal is a bad idea, hopefully the first thing they do when they get in to work tomorrow is to wipe that one off of the board and start looking at how the ref can communicate what's going on to the crowd.

I'm still for it.

Look today's shit show has nothing to do with the system, blame the incompetency of the officials who are mis-using it.

Implementation is wrong. I really think, they should change so that for each half each team gets 1 challenge. If they are right they get to keep the challenge if they're wrong they lose it. This would surely prevent loads of decisions getting reviewed! And teams would only use the challenge when they truly believe something is wrong. The way it is now the referees feel they need to use VAR for every doubt!

And the time it takes to get through it. I read something the other day saying it was all done somewhere else away from the ground. That needs changing too if that's true, you can't have that if you're going to use it in every game, which, if that's where this is going, will have to be the case, surely?
