Bumping this to shamelessly announce that I get to meet Rafa on Saturday when he's in Bergen as studio guest in our PL show. On NLD day.

I'm starstruck like mad and it's still four days away. :X3:

I’m jealous, hope you have a great day and he’s everything you dreamed he’d be.

Shake his hand from me too, he was a special type of player who always made me smile.

Looking forward seeing VDV again. Let me ask you; Is it the scheduling or financial terms that decides which guest you are bringing in? Which former players/managers have you tried to bring on but declined/not available?

Would have been great having two former players from i.e. Arsenal and Tottenham in the studio on local derbies and hearing them talk about at them

Both, really. Our budget doesn't allow for guests every week but we do try to get people in the studio or on site for us for the big games, but of course the ones we approach often have other commitments for the big games so it doesn't always work out. Ryan Mason was originally approached for this game but has commitments elsewhere (I'd guess Sky or BT). We have a deal with an agency that represents Ryan Giggs among others and almost all special guests come through them now. We also have to strike a balance in terms of English vs Norwegian as a lot of people complain if we do a full show in English, which is what would probably happen if we had one from either camp.

We actually don't have access to many Arsenal men either in-house or via the agency, it's much easier to get hold of people who are United, Pool or Spurs. But I don't know anything about who declines or is unavailable for us, I only hear it when it's confirmed.

I don't get why people would oppose to the opportunity of having former players from the Premier League in the studio because of the language. How can you follow English football and not understand English?

Cheers for the information

But that's Italian. Only need to know basics like Pasta, pizza, vino and mussolini :D

Joke aside, English is the third most-spoken language and Norwegians learn the language from the age of 8-9 in school.

Didn't have time for a picture or anything but my boss took this when he arrived. A real gent, great guy with some great stories and strong opinions! Didn't hear much new that he hasn't told before, loved playing under 'Arry and the freedom he was given in that team, hates himself for forcing a move the summer AVB took over, etc.

But one story I haven't heard before was that he was there one of the first times Kane trained with the first team, if not the very first time. And halfway through the session he pulled Gomes to one side and they had a joke about how shit Kane was! He has nothing but respect for how Kane fought and trained and worked harder than anyone else to become what he is today.

Absolutely top bloke.
