Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen faces a significant spell on the sidelines with his hamstring injury.
We’ll see. It was not a good injury,” Pochettino said.

“We’re so disappointed with that. We’ll see if it’s six weeks or less.”

A huge loss for us. How glad are we now that Toby didn't leave. With Toby snd Sanchez we still have 2 very good centre backs. Will need Foyth or Dier to step up if we want a back three now though. At least we have the international break which reduces the games missed.

In fact we should be able to cope at centre back. The bigger problem is midfield with Wanyama and Dembele shadows of their former selves even putting aside their injuries and Dier not exactly over impressing either. Not to mention Eriksen and Dele out for f knows how long.

Hope Foyth benefits from a bad situation for us. ITK was saying during the window that he needs to get some game time or he'll be off. Don't know how true that is, but he looks a very talented player and I hope he gets his chance now.

All rushed back too quickly for the first games of the season.

Hazard benefiting from been held back In contrast

No surprise to many that the World Cup players are struggling. Puts our zero spend transfer window firmly in the spotlight, especially with a backup player like Amos now unable to contribute at all. I was expecting a run of injuries around November but we didn't get anywhere near that.

If they'd been held back, there would have been screaming on here. Chelsea didn't have as many players in the semis as we did. The three Chelsea players who went far in the WC are younger than our injured players, which can be a risk factor (thanks Google). We don't have the luxury of holding back our players. I do hope the likes of Foyth are given more game time, but a settled back line also helps our defensive strength.

I think most would have been understanding if we didn't start the WC'ers vs Newcastle and Fulham
