I posted a criticism on our teams performances of late and received a lot of reactions..."wanker" was one of them...

This was the post:

Well....to all of u who are happy with this draw:

1. We are THE team in the LEAGUE who has let in most goal in stoppage time the last two seasons.

2. When will we learn not to sit back and let teams outplay us the last 10 mins...even Fulham managed it!

3. We had a major goal to finish within the top 4 and we are HAPPY with getting a point from 3 in stoppage time against one of our fiercest rivals!

4. The wall was misplaced for the SECOND game in a row!!!

5. We were outplayed for most of the game and were really lucky to be 2-1 up at all!

6. Liverpool could have been 4 up at half time if Gerrard had been his normal self.

7. We are 3rd from bottom 1/4 in the season!!

8. We cant defend and have let in 16 in 8 games.

9. Our 17 mill striker isnt even on the bench!!!

10. We are the laughingstock of the EPL at the moment!

YOU GO BE HAPPY YOU LITHIUMJUNKIES!

Wake up!

I agree that the post was written shortly after the final whistle at Anfield, BUT i stand by what I wrote and could easily back it up today as well. That is not the point.

The point is:

Why dont people here accept that not all people are happy with the performances of late? Why do some people wanna see the positives and ONLY the positives when most of the sentences above is true? And why do the people who wont tolerate that Spurs are below the relegation zone get the stick? It should be the other way around!! Who are the supporters that can support that?

I say we use our right as loyal supporters and let the board know that this aint tolerable.. We are not doing this club a favour by just sitting on the fence and say: "jolly good chaps, it will soon be better..." Then we may see ourselves in the Championship next year.......

Thank you for your time.

Most of the members are like this when it comes to criticise our club so don't be to surprised;

They've seen nothing wrong.....ever.....and you've gotta feel sorry for the wellpaid players when they fuck things up for us over and over.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion positive or negatve, this place would be very boring if eveyone agreed on everything.

In future if you feel you've been abused by anyone un-necessarily use the report post button and where required a moderator will deal with it.

But surely your argument of "Why do some members constantly look at the positives and nothing else" can be very easily turned around by saying the opposite?

Our opinions are a reflection of ourselves and our perceptions. If someone chooses to focus on the positive things, it doesn't mean that readers should presume that they think all is rosy. I think it's fair to say that no Spurs fan is content with the current situation.

Just because people pick out positives and try and cheer people up, it doesn't mean they're blinkered to what is going on. It's essentially an expression of their fundamental outlook on life. Optimists vs. Pessimists. The war no Realist can win.

(I've said it twice, in two different ways, just to make sure of comprehension).

We know the truth and have a balanced point of view about most things, but i dont want to feel like slitting my wrists after every game. Thats emphasis on GAME.

I want/try to find out positives, as it looks like everyone else is finding negative things, so I have no need to do it if I agree with those. But sometimes it just seems that people are finding just pointless negatives cos are so pissed off about our performances and I don't blame them.

'Most of the statements above are true'.

Which?

'Liverpool could have been 4 up.' But they weren't, were they? We could have been 2 up against Arsenal before they equalised, but we weren't. We could have been 2 up against United, but weren't. Alternatively, if it hadn't been for our current Hate Figure No. 1 we could have been dead and buried by half-time in both of those games. If Bale's free-kick had gone in, and it wasn't that far off, we'd have been 1-0 up. But it didn't, and we weren't.

Gerrard wasn't his normal self because, by all accounts, Zoko (apparently living up to his billing) and Jenas pretty much neutralised him and Mascherano. You'd sooner believe he was just having a bad day at the office, apparently.

So even if we get a lead, we're lucky. Right, then. And if it hadn't been for a staggeringly bad refereeing decision we'd almost certainly have won 3-1. Would that have been lucky too?

Bent wasn't on the bench because he was sent home ill from the hotel, as posted on the match thread. And if he'd been on the bench Defoe probably wouldn't have been, so we'd have had complaints about that.

'We had a major goal to finish in the top four.' Says who?

Did we sit back? Or were we pushed back? There's a difference.

Why are you assuming that those who prefer to take positives from our performances are happy with our league position?

As I said in my post: MOST of the sentences were true..., who cares if we should have or would have...the thing is we did not and here are the stats:

Shots (on Goal)23(9)12(6)Fouls1810Corner Kicks53Offsides13Time of Possession56%44%Yellow Cards01Red Cards00Saves45

Look at shots on goal and possession plz

And again: Would Bent have been on the bench? If so....are you still HAPPY with that? Is that POSITIVE?

Both Levy and Jol has said before that we aim for the Champions League...so many times that i dont even bother looking for a quote......no I guess u will deny it then so here goes:

If we were pushed or sat back? What do you think? Did we get pushed back by Fulham, Sunderland? If so....is that POSITIVE? are you HAPPY then?

i notice though that the original poster once again is happy to point out our problems, but fails to offer any suggested solution to these problems...

You need a top up over there? That glass is sure looking half empty... :|

No...i dont have any answers and that is not the point...im not blaming anyone either.....but before you slate me with finding no solutions...at least im not happy with the problems and many people are getting paid (lots) to find out! Just dont blame it on bad luck, because that aint good enough.....well at least not for me. I....(opposed to many here I believe) are not HAPPY with our performances and again: stop blaming bad luck!

Shall I start a thread about our distinct lack of having Kaká at the club?

You've missed the point that pretty much everyone has made in this thread - in that they choose to pick out the positives as that is their disposition and general attitude to life.

No Spurs fan is happy with the current situation. Yet there's a huge polarisation of how they think it should be improved; not to mention who should be in charge.

Picking out positives doesn't mean people ignore negatives - it's just a spin and way of looking at things that stops you slitting your wrists.

If anything anyone ever said on here really mattered or contributed to our fortunes, then I expect everyone would speak with the same voice; however it isn't and therefore if I can pick a positive out of something, I bloody well will and don't need you to try and tell me I'm wrong for doing it.

Good idea, i'll go start one on the fact the stairwells need decorating in the North stand, they look half finished...

Shering, you could've posted that in a hundred other threads - not being mean either here, there are tons of threads disecting our problems here, some even have their own specific threads i expect, but to just shout out your personal issues with the team and put yourself up on a pedestal like that, you got to expect a few fistfulls of shit to be thrown at you

It's what us monkeys do, we just push one out into our hand, give it a sniff, rate it and fling it - there are lots of constructive threads that the zookeepers stop us posting in, that touch on all of the issues you mentioned and more, why not post your opinions in one of them instead of waving your winky about...

Most of them are not.

You are expecting us, or any team, to have the majority of possession and more goal attempts against Liverpool at Anfield?

If Berbatov and Keane are our first-choice strike partnership and are paying off (and scoring goals has hardly been the problem anyway) then that's the way it is.

Yes, I know a regular Champions' League place is our long-term plan. Where have you seen it said by anyone who actually matters that a top four place was a must-do for this season?

Just about any team in the PL, with the possible exception of Derby (and even they managed it against the Barcodes), is entirely capable of getting control of the game from almost any other. Look at Sunderland against Arsenal yesterday. It's called real life, real football. So no I'm not HAPPY that it happens to us, but I've watched enough games of football now to know that not everything goes 100% the way I'd want it to, or the way it's 'supposed' to. So I don't do hysteria. It's bad for my blood pressure.

I'm absolutely gutted about the result yesterday, and to be honest, I bloody knew it was going to happen. However, although I'm fed up with our defence conceding late goals and pissed off with refereeing decisions going against us, just because I don't feel the need to start 16 threads about it doesn't mean I'm fully of happy-happy-joy-joy love, it might just mean I'm not a miserable bastard.

(Check the Martin Petrov thread in the summer for highlights of me at my most miserable!)

Thank you for your time.

Agree with your original post.

My view is that there are fans who adopt a 'spurs fan' persona, they act how they think a loyal football supporter should act, regardless of the situation. The model they subscribe to is one where the spurs supporter is a cheerleader and apologist for the team/manager whatever happens and in doing so they 'prove' to everyone else that they are far more of a fan...than anyone else; the bestist fan in the whole wide world. Not true fans in my opinion.

They label anyone who has a critical word to say as a non-believer and a heretic and attempt to banish them from the kingdom of the pure. The irony is that the ones who 'criticize' (and I don't mean the unreasonably hyper-critical ones that are never satisfied and have absolutely no perspective on the game at all; I mean the ones that make reasonable/rational/logical points) are the ones I class as true supporters, they are ones who want to drive the club forward and see us succeed at the highest level and are not content with mediocrity.

There are some fans that have battered wives syndrome and will excuse the husband whatever. They are grateful for any 'crumb' they are given. They lose all perspective and their value system is shot to pieces.

I've supported this club all my life and have seen the highs and lows and loved this club through it all, that love I have for the club is what drives my passion to will us to succeed and progress, it also drives my anger and annoyance at the things we do that prevent this from happening.

So, we have a lot of people, as supporters, who are more than comfortable with the status quo, they've been there before, they know it well, it's almost strangely reassuring to be back in the arena of the average again. They still have all the tools to deal with it and reason it out and are more than willing to do so, to again, set themselves aside from the Judas mob.

I enjoyed writing that, that was very cathartic. :)
