The Kenyan will undergo further tests before Tottenham’s match against Barcelona after he missed the 4-1 win over AS Roma.

Wanyama was immense in his 1st season with us, but that knee injury certainly took its & he never seemingly the same intensity to his performances. I felt his passing game was very average & he just didn't look the same.

I've been thinking for a while that we need another player to challenge Dier for that holding role; a Jorginho-type, a player that can receive from the CB's under pressure & look to play forwards with minimal touches. People may well laugh, but I keep thinking Jonjo Shelvey would fit that profile; he's got good technique, always looks to be on the ball, plays forwards & has a wonderful range. Considering that Newcastle seem to struggling for funds, a bid-plus-Onomah on loan might be worth a punt.

In some ways if he has to get injured better he misses a meaningless friendly than a game that counts. Better still if he had a full pre season so he's raring to go.

He’s fast turning into a one season wonder, which is a massive shame. Need decent, reliable cover in midfield.
