"I still have a contract with Spurs and that is what I want to see through."
I don't interpret that as ruling out leaving us, besides which it's ultimately Poch's decision as to whether or not he wants to keep him.

Really hope he stays, has a good pre season and comes back the player he was a year ago.

It's ruled out him leaving us... just not us letting him go.

It all depends on his knee, and that is private information between him and the club.
It might be with rest he'll be back to his best next season. Maybe not.
Caveat emptor.

He will be valuable next year and since I can no longer express my love in his player thread, I will do so here:

Dear Vic,

You are a beast of a man with more technique than I originally thought. I always knew you had the motor, but I had little idea of your ability to wiggle out of tight spaces in the midfield. Let's forget the ways of last year and bring back the Vic we all fell for in 2016-2017!

Best,

It's certainly obvious that players that are out injured for a few months (with serious injuries) really struggle to ever make that lost ground up under Poch's training methods, it appears to happen all the time.

Rose, Wanyama, Lamela, Alderweireld to name just a few.

I think so much work goes into the fitness aspect of things that it is so difficult to reach the level of the other players when you have been out injured for such a long time, certainly seems that way anyway.

With Kenya not in the World Cup and a full pre-season behind him, let's hope Vic can reach the levels he reached two seasons ago.

I think that's a really good point. You'd think those who have gone on to be named in WC squads (Rose, Toby et al) will continue to struggle surely?

Sorry couldn’t find his player watch. I understand you have to give him a bit of leeway with the injuries. But do people really think he is good enough for a CL team or would you move him on ?

barring some misplaced passes in the first i think he did really well, better than Dier has done all season. You lose a little of the calm on the ball you get with Dier but driving forward from deep positions is something you really need to charge forward and you dont get that at all with Dier

Would you have asked this in his first season when he was injury free and fit?
That will be your answer

Agree. Seems a strange time to bring it up as well after facing up to one of the greatest players to ever play the game.

I agree but I thought Dier did well when he came on. It coincided with us getting more of a grip on the game

I think both Dier and Wanyama played well last night. Not easy considering the opposition. And if a couple of other players did their jobs these two could have had a better result and some plaudits this morning.
