Football in Oz is easy, Fox Sports show more games than Sky Sports. Not sure about Fiji, you may struggle there, but Singapore will be fine as well, think it was ESPN when I was there. USA you will find they will show a lot of games too.

Wouldn't use your iPhone though, unless you're going to buy a sim card in every country, data charges will be expensive. Just watch it in bars or hostels, that's what I did.

Every game is live in OZ and depending where you are there are always people congregating to watch them. :hump:

More games on in the US than in England - the problem will be finding places to see them. Games are generally either on ESPN or Fox Soccer. Every TV in the US has ESPN (and ESPN2 etc), but if a game is on Fox or Fox Soccer Plus it might be a little harder to find. Check sports bars, and get there early to ask if need be. Remember there are different time zones too.

There will be premier league games on in all those countries.. weather it will be spurs though is another story.

In aus.. you will be fine in Brisy, Sydney, Canberra (dont waste ya time)... and Melbourne... but you will struggle everywhere else unless they are showing it in the hostel.

In new zealand.. i think you will really struggle..i think i only see one match in the entire year i was there.

Hawaii.. there are sports bars all over teh states, so you will be fine. Might take some finding though...also may have to watch the games delayed... i had to watch spurs 5-1 win over arsenal about 6 hours after the actual game, as teh bar didnt open till 8pm! (in waikiki- BUT get away from Waikiki! - go north shore.. or the other islands)

You will struggle in Fiji.

My question to you though is WHY? You only have 4 and a half months.. that isnt a lot of time to cover all these countries as it is, why would you waste time watching football? I done pretty much the exact same route, but added asia onto the begining.. and done it over 18 months..i probably watched 2 england matches, and the champions league final, and that was it. Its suprisingly easy to forget about spurs when your thousands of miles away.

i personally would get a SIM in every country you visit.. they dont cost much, and its easy just to send a txt out (or fb status) updating people with ya new number. it'll be a lot cheaper, and a lot easier to top up with credit.

As for the data charges - you can probably avoid this all together just by using the wifi function on your phone? assuming you have a wifi enabled phone.

It was all i could afford to be honest, been saving for 2 years just to go. I have to cover my morgage, and work are giving me unpaid leave, its quite volatile at work at present due to the budget cuts (Local Council), so i deem myself really lucky to get the time off, My girlfriends job is being held open for her too by her employer. So we are both really very lucky.

I dont expect to watch all the games, but if possible i want to watch what i can. Especially Champions league. England i can do without, Spurs i cant

Im in Fiji for 6 days and Hawaii for 6 days. I know the islands are better but will i really have enough time to get to them, wouldnt it be better due to time to stay in Waikiki?

I have a iphone 4, will be using wifi. I only want phone for emergencies and to call Our parents. One number is easier all round for us and them.
I usually get a local sim, but we dont want all the hassle.
I will also be calling home using Skype.

Your lucky to be given the time off.. i'm not sure my work would do the same for me. The problem you are going to have with trying to watch champions league is the timing of it - eg when your in oz it'll be on at 6/7 in the morning - your unlikely to be able to watch it in a hostel - and most sports bars will be closed unless your in sydney or melbourne. I know of one 24 hour sports bar in kings cross sydney, pretty sure there'd be some in melb and brisy too, but not elsewhere.

RE Hawaii - 6 days hey. I'd stay on Oahu (rather than travelling to the other islands), but prob do 4 days northshore, then the last two in waikiki. It is fairly small though so based in Waikiki with day trips out would be workable. I thoroughly recomend a shark dive up in Haleiwa, but you'd need to book in advance and its very weather dependant. There isnt a great deal to actually do in Waikiki itself.

Phone thing makes sense..

Most importantly - enjoy yourself you lucky fucker.

Check www.ozspurs.com when you're here in Oz, it has all the pubs we meet at in all the cities

Nice one thanks :)

Yeah i can imagine the timings are terrible, but if i can catch a match twice a month i will be more than happy.

Day trips sounds good, Fiji and Hawaii are going to be are chill out parts of the trip, to top up our tan (so my missus says). Did a Shark dive in cape town last year and it was awesome, so happy to do it again.

I would be very intrested to know any advice you can give me by pm if you have time.

Thanks again
Louis
