"You can't sell world class players and still compete at the top level(Walker)."

"Spurs have a great starting 11 but their lack of squad depth will cost them"

"Spurs drawn in group of death will be in the Europa by February"

"One man team when Kane isn't scoring they struggle"

"They can't play at Wembley, the pitch is too big and they will struggle to get results, as it's a cup final for their opponents."

Think most pundits, and journo's are now in full back track mode, and are believing that we are actually the real deals. They are now understanding we have a coach that has the tactical and motivational prowess and players of sufficient ability to overcome these hurdles they keep insisting were in front of us. I'm sure many will now revert to the pre Summer transfer window "They will all be off in the Summer to bigger teams" bandwagon.

There does seem to be more and more that are understanding the project and philosophy is more important than the money being spent, but expect a surge in our players being linked to the Elite European teams, but I'm adamant we will continue to prove them wrong.

I hope Rose is thinking twice about jumping ship at this stage. Same goes for Alli & Kane & Eriksen & Lloris & Toby & Jan & Poch & Levy & Edwards & the rest

Yeah the Irish commentary team in the RTE studio last night said before the game that Spurs didn't have a squad big enough to compete, just the core 11 or so players and that's where Spurs will fail due to lack of quality in reserve.

You can add: when Poch/Kane leaves Spurs will go back to the level they once were.

They are all lazy narratives which get repeated by the same people in the media and rival fans. It's as if people don't pay attention to what's been happening at Spurs over the last few seasons, it's great seeing them eat humble pie like this, long may it continue.

You're right @Trix just goes to show the bias and what other people really know about THFC.

I don't think it's so much bias, more that many pundits/journo's massively underestimated just what Levy and Poch have built from the ground up.

How are we going to be the biggest club in North London when once again we have failed to qualify for the Europa League?

Vorm, Rose, Aurier, Sissoko, Dembele, Son, LLorente - our bench last night

Minus Wanyama, Lamela, Foyth and Nkoudou

No depth what so ever

90% of pundits just trot out the received narrative without even thinking about it. So for a few years it’s been “Spurs squad is not strong enough” so you’ll hear them parroting it again and again.

Same goes for “Alderweireld is Spurs Best defender” - it’s almost unquestionably repeated by every pundit after his standout debut campaign for us, but anyone who’s watched us recently could easily see that Vertonghen is playing on another level at the moment. It’s almost like pundits don’t watch the games...

Sorry A&C but not even the most devout anti Levy-ist can deny that the training ground, the revolution behind the scenes through Baldini, and the appointment of Poch were down to Levy. Forget the money spent on players(which could be better) because these are three huge factors leading to where we are now as a club

They can, and they damn well will, and you know this deep down.

Who's denying it?

I would appreciate it if you would just allow me to draw the BSoDL out for my amusement without sticking your oar in :D

Apologies for derailing your thread though.

Spurs won’t ever win a trophy. Poch “ It is important for this club not just to win a trophy but the Premier League or Champions league”

Dele Alli is off form “Dele is coming just like winter”

The same as I've said about Harry Kane goes for the entire club. From the outside, it's just hard to understand. It's hard to comprehend how a kid with no noticeable youth career for a top 5 - top 6 club graduates from the academy and all of the sudden becomes the worlds best. It is impossible to fully understand how a squad of no significant cost, consisting of players of no big, prestigious names, and with a manager of absolutely only average achievements prior to the tenure at Tottenham, can be turned into a consistent top 4 team. It's just not rational. So rather than coming to terms with how illogical and nonsensical Tottenham is these days, pundits (who are paid to have absolute opinions btw, good bad or otherwise) spout off one-liners that on the surface sounds logical, just to try and make sense in line with their clearly defined perception of reality. The truth is, they are just unable to wrap their minds around today's Tottenham Hotspur, and their coping mechanism is talking bullshit.

I noticed that when the teams were named. For all the talk about how weak our bench was during the United game, this was the strongest bench I can remember us putting out for a big game. To think that we just absolutely battered the reigning European and Spanish champions with Son, Rose, Aurier, Wanyama and Lamela not even on the pitch and Alderweireld going off injured in the first half is unbelievable
