Doesn't mean you can't give credit for what Levy is getting right. I know some of our fans still live in the 60's "To Dare is to do" blah blah blah, but the game has moved on significantly since then, and it is nowhere near the level-ish playing field it once was. The game is no longer about glory it is about money. So for us to be where we are and competing is an achievement in itself. We are moving in the right direction but of course it is going to take longer than if some oil rich play boy was to throw a billion pounds at it.

Don't get me wrong Levy is far from perfect and has made some monumentus mistakes in the past which have cost us. But it's only fair when criticising him for those fuck up's, to say well done when he gets stuff right imo.

I agree with your last paragraph 100%, and he has really turned us into a force in recent years off the pitch ( just as Pochettino has done on it).

Maybe even I am starting to warm to him.

I agree. It made me proud when one of my mates congratulated me on the club having the best matchday pie turnover.

Fucking snap out of it, what's the matter with you? :D

I hope Rose is thinking twice about jumping ship at this stage. Same goes for Alli & Kane & Eriksen & Lloris & Toby & Jan & Poch & Levy & Edwards & the rest

Rose will likely go, and to be honest i don't really care. I have complete faith that Poch (as with Walker) will know when to sell, and who to replace him with.

At the start of the season those points were true somewhat

Those points dropped at wembley early on will cost us the title.this season id imagine

But poch keeps positively progressing season after season

What a shit article.

Start: "Harry Kane would have joined Leeds in 2014 if it wasn't for Tim Sherwood"

End: "I don't think he once seriously considered going."

The quotes in full:

"It was really only Harry's desire to dig and prove himself at the top level and Tim's belief in him that stopped him going (when the offer came in).

"He backed his ability and the rewards are fully deserved. I don't think he once seriously considered going."

In order for Kane to prove himself Sherwood had to give him a place in the team. There were definitely doubts about whether Kane would make it at that level and I don't think any supporter thought he would become world class. AVB didn't play him he bought Soldado instead. I certainly think if Adebayor and Soldado had made the grade, Kane would have been let go.[/QUOTE]

why, because he lucked out for once when he hired Pochettino ?

There is always a certain element of luck in any managerial appointment.

On the other hand, from when he first investigated best practice in youth development, over on the Continent, back in 2005 there has been a consistent and focused approach by Daniel Levy. To select and develop youth/young players as an obvious means of subverting the almost insurmountable financial gap that had opened up between our rivals and ourselves. To that end, every manager/Head Coach Levy has hired* has been with a view to facilitating this strategic vision. There have been some gross errors in there, and some bad fortune. But it has been the guiding principle of Levy's recruitment policy since them. When we hired AVB, for instance, the Little Ginger Growler talked the talk about bringing youth through - but then ring-fenced the first team and wouldn't even let the youth train with them. How much of that was Levy's fault and how much the LGG's I think few of us could answer.
*The exception was, of course, 'Arry Redknapp who was hired for his fixing qualities because we were in such a mess with two points from eight games.

But there was a general feeling that Levy had to get it right in his next (proper) appointment. It should be pointed out, of course, that Levy has also been learning on the job - he wasn't a football man, and sometimes what is required in the football world isn't quite what would be required in the business world he made his name in. Two notable things about the hiring of Poch are, firstly that he was immediately given a five year contract - that was pretty much unprecedented. It would be far harder for the normally prudent Levy to pay to get rid of this one if it went horribly wrong. You have to ask why? And that leads on to the second point: Levy and co must have always done their due diligence - it would be negligent not to. But the lengths him and Lewis went to over Poch was, allegedly, on a whole new level. Rumour has it that they consulted business acquaintances in Argentina, so deep are they alleged to have gone in an effort to understand everything they could about Poch.

You would have to say it was more than blind luck that led them to appoint him - and on a contract that must have made him feel more confident that his methods would be given time to produce results. Maybe @Trix or some other more in the know than myself can confirm this.

Exactly, we are in our longest running barren trophy spell since the 1950's . We are making progress right now but we haven't won anything under Pochettino yet and only 1 trophy in 16 years under Levy's stewardship, unless some fans want to add the new training facility and new stadium to our honour roll

You can't look at it this totally blinked context. Football has changed massively since the 50's and like it or not our status as a club was dog shit when ENIC took over.

Depending on who you listen to.....

We nearly signed Zidane
We nearly signed Suarez
ffs we nearly Maradonna

See where I'm going with this? I know this hasn't come direct from Tim, but don't underestimate the ability of some to stretch the truth in order to up their own stock. There will have been far more considerations for Harry than just what Tim thought about him. It was evident very early on behind the scenes in Tim's short tenure that he wasn't going to be around for long. Harry would have known that. He may have given him confidence and backing but I doubt that is the reason alone that Harry didn't leave.

"You can't sell world class players and still compete at the top level(Walker)."

"Spurs have a great starting 11 but their lack of squad depth will cost them"

"Spurs drawn in group of death will be in the Europa by February"

"One man team when Kane isn't scoring they struggle"

"They can't play at Wembley, the pitch is too big and they will struggle to get results, as it's a cup final for their opponents."

Think most pundits, and journo's are now in full back track mode, and are believing that we are actually the real deals. They are now understanding we have a coach that has the tactical and motivational prowess and players of sufficient ability to overcome these hurdles they keep insisting were in front of us. I'm sure many will now revert to the pre Summer transfer window "They will all be off in the Summer to bigger teams" bandwagon.

There does seem to be more and more that are understanding the project and philosophy is more important than the money being spent, but expect a surge in our players being linked to the Elite European teams, but I'm adamant we will continue to prove them wrong.

Good timing posting this just after one of the best results in the Clubs history.

I enjoyed that as much as any of you, but the evidence suggests at least two of those headlines you recreated will be seen again. with some justification. I'm more than happy with serial top four finishes given what see went through under Sugar and at least the first half of Levys reign, but I can't see us winning a trophy can you? Is that what costly means, tumbling out of domestic cup opportunities due to attitude as well as lack of personnel based issues?

It'll be back to attack v defence tomorrow, requiring a totally different approach than v Liverpool and Real, I'm thinking about turning up at half time given the approach to similar previous contests...

I really don't think this will raise his stock at all, he failed at Aston Villa and then at Swindon, any employer will look at his more recent history not at his time with us. Him giving confidence and backing to Kane is enough of a reason to give him credit. AVB didn't give him confidence and backing.

The same as I've said about Harry Kane goes for the entire club. From the outside, it's just hard to understand. It's hard to comprehend how a kid with no noticeable youth career for a top 5 - top 6 club graduates from the academy and all of the sudden becomes the worlds best. It is impossible to fully understand how a squad of no significant cost, consisting of players of no big, prestigious names, and with a manager of absolutely only average achievements prior to the tenure at Tottenham, can be turned into a consistent top 4 team. It's just not rational. So rather than coming to terms with how illogical and nonsensical Tottenham is these days, pundits (who are paid to have absolute opinions btw, good bad or otherwise) spout off one-liners that on the surface sounds logical, just to try and make sense in line with their clearly defined perception of reality. The truth is, they are just unable to wrap their minds around today's Tottenham Hotspur, and their coping mechanism is talking bullshit.

You're totally right, of course- but why?!? Why can't they just say "wow- fair play to Spurs- what's happening there is unbelievable."

WHY MUST THEY (almost) ALWAYS SLAG US OFF?!?!? ESPECIALLY the tv guys- they're the fucking WORST. You should've seen the pregame talk on NBC (US television) talking about Spurs/Madrid-- the entire game was called "Harry Kane's audition for Real's starting number 9 spot"! Like as if the game was being played in order that Zinedine could best work out precisely where Harry'd be playing when alongside Ronaldo...I wouldn't have been surprised if one of these so-called "commentators" didn't speculate as to whether or not Real Madrid's official team tailor would be in attendance in order to better ascertain Kane's precise shirt size so that- upon Harry's introduction day in Madrid's center square- the kit would be just the way Perez and co. preferred it!

I wanted to vomit!

I mean what the HELL?!?!? Why not just enjoy it?!? Isn't the whole Chelsea/Man U/Man City/Ars*nal/Liverpool being the only clubs worth a damn in England-thing getting a bit boring?!? Is it that hard to praise a (relative, at least as far as top-flight European football goes) newcomer? I'm sorry, I just don't get it; I mean fuck me, how many times can you write/say/vomit out the same narrative before boring even yourself?!?

Sorry for the rant- I just am amazed at the lack of respect/understanding/admiration for what's going on at our club. Methinks there's something else at play, as it just doesn't make sense.

I'm surprised you even go to the Lane. Unless, of course, it's to find more things to moan about.
A straight question..... Do you ever see anything positive in your life?
