Mauricio Pochettino was pleased with his players efforts in their 2-1 win, but admitted there should have been more distance between them and Leicester by the time the Foxes equalised.

You think thats coincidence?

We allow them all to play the football they like to play. We don't dictate the tempo of a match. We don't mark players out of a game and we aren't solid at the back.

We're Liverpool with a bit more luck this season in the league.

On a positive note, we're a lot better now than at the start of the season so we are trending in the right direction.

We were lucky, but then we've got one or two quality players (which most teams fortunetly do not have). Plus we are proving that our fitness is making the difference, even when our general football ability is crap.

I am baffled that an ex international defender like Poch seems incapable of fixing the problems in the defence.

The massive inconstancy of most of our players isn't exactly making his job any easier though!!

Over the last 20 or so years we have not got great results over this period. As Spurs fans we like to win with class and if we lose we do so with style. Welcome to 2014 edition. We are winning ugly but hey we are still WiNNING. It is not easy to play the beautiful game in sub zero conditions away to any EPL team. Really believe even the most optimistic of us would feel we are far higher in table than our play ( based on many opinions) on this site sees us. Please give the man a chance, we are a work in progress, this is early stages yet we are still a chance in anything we can play for this season. COYS.

If you look back at the last three seasons, we haven't lost a game over Christmas. In fact we've won most of them! I haven't looked back any further and can't remember, but I'm pretty sure that we've done ok over Christmas for some years now.

The reason we're poor is because Poch keeps playing this poxy 4231 bollocks.
We don't need to play 2 defensive midfielders against bollocks like Burnley and bloody Leicester ffs.
We end up with little to no outlet up front and all the pressure at the back.
Poch needs to learn fucking quickly that the top teams don't worry about what the likes of Leicester or Burnley can do to us and go out there and smash them.

I don't think he can fix the defence with the current personal available at the back.

I'm sorry mate but if you think the 2 in a 4-2-3-1 are defensive midfielders, you haven't been paying much attention have you?

There was indeed a 15 minute spell midway through the first half when we dominated and controlled the game. There was a couple of huge chances to kill them off like when Bentaleb was sent through on goal, but failed miserably in making the best of the situation. The fact that we didn't means that we still have a long way to go before we can pose a real threat to the top four, and also meant that Leicester were still in the game and managed to bully us off the ball once they gained confidence that we could be beaten. We looked easily the better team for the first half hour, and a top team would have used that momentum to kill the game.

What seems to be missing more than anything in our forward play is the timing in our runs and high tempo passing in the final third. Occasionally we do pass with great awareness in the middle of the park, but rarely in front of goal. The patterns are there, though, and making high tempo passing moves and finishes click at the speed of the PL is no mean feat. It takes time for players to gel and young players to grow. Bentaleb and Kane are both good examples of very talented players that both make brilliant moves and clumsy moves, but both could develop into top drawer players.
As bad as we have looked in the 1-2 wins at Villa, Hull, Swansea and Leicester, winning those games might just be what this new team needed to gain belief that they can get to the next level. Hopefully the Lane will be packed with fans that really get behind the team tomorrow as the MU game is absolutely pivotal to our season. The next two games are absolutely crucial and can make our break our PL season, so come on guys - even Lawro thinks we can get a result :)

Agree, it is the same formation as Chelski, which I don't mind.. They just have better quality. But is it the best formation for the quality of players we have.. I actually think it is.. But the main difference is, I watched the Chelsea game and when they get out wide and cross there were 6 players in the box. we would have had 2 maybe 3 if lucky.

You are basically right, except that Chelsea's 2 consist of a defensive player and Cesc fucking Fabregas. Ours generally consists of any of mason, Bentaleb, Stambouli, Capoue, Dembele.
Not a single one of them can even be partially compared to Fabregas.
Then they have a three in behind the striker consisting of the likes of Oscar, Hazard and Willian. Then their striker is Diego bloody Costa.
Eriksen is decent, Kane is doing a decent job, but we're just not in the same league with regards to attacking quality.

I agree, we are going to need to show some bottle to get a result against that lot. The result agaisnt Manure will boost confidence. I just hope we don't rotate too much for this one. We need to keep Davies at LB for starters.
