I kept asking myself questions like that during the game. Absolutely not, IMO.

Its a very good question, and one that we all probably know the answer to unfortunately.

But it really makes you think how much more our players could work and fight a hell of a lot more for the collective cause.

that is down to jose IMHO

As I was ranting saying in the ratings thread the other day, it needs someone who is prepared to take no shit and set some standards. This is exactly the sort of stuff I was on about.

Nothing like the Chelsea that lucked the CL...well not lucked it completely, but you know what I mean.

That was simply an outstanding away performance....hugely impressive.

If there was a blue print for playing away from home in a big game, I think they just composed it.
This is where a top class and experienced manager comes to the fore - Chelsea won't always leave out Oscar and select Matic next to Luiz and Ramires but it was so effective in nullifying City's biggest threat in Toure and shut down space for Silva to operate.

The work rate and commitment was hugely commendable but you couple that with the sublime Hazard and the craft of Willian - you add a Diego Costa to this side and that's a pretty good setup right there.

Imagine how good Chelsea could be if they had a proper striker? I didn't think Eto'o was in the game in the second half.

As good as Mata is he wouldn't put in the work that Oscar, Willian and Hazard do and that's what led to him being sold. He is one of the best players in the league but oddly they're better without him.

And that shows you there is an absolute minimum standard maureen expects and no one gets away with anything less.

People can fear LVG's potential to unsettle and upset, but he'd bring this kind of mentality and extremely high standards here, with absolutely no equivocation.

Balls-out type of manager.:)

Thankfully I think LVG could be that man and he actually seems keen on us. As long as Daniel plays it right, no matter what happens this season there is hope. We do have some quality and tonight shows what a good manager & work ethic can do.

Agreed, although it's easier said than done.

No other manager would have been given the slack to ostracise the club's player of the year twice in a row and his reputation has allowed this but whilst he can be a complete ****, you have to admire his principals when it comes to purely the footballing aspect.

Yeah, literally if you read that article in the other thread!

I'd love it if he became manager and then dropped his trousers in front if the committee to show them "he had balls" :)

They were unbelievably good. Their attacking stars in Willian and Hazard were sensational in terms of their work rate to.

I seriously hope Sherwood was watching that tonight and totally absorbing it. I have no problem with an attacking set up against sides we are expected to beat but in the bigger games he's been negligent - suicide last week against City.

But what fucks me off is we have the players to play like that when needs be - use the muscle we have in our squad, the defensive quality we have and give them a fucking appetite to grab a game by the balls like that. Inject more work rate into all of them, the ones with more attacking responsibility obviously need to be doing it to.

But there has to be an appetite to get on top of the opposition like that. I know we don't possess the same quality all over the park per se...but we do have the midfielder power to get on top of games like that.

Jose has impressed me tonight big time. Not his biggest fan but tonight he was outstanding the way he revved up his players

He would almost certainly ruffle some high profile feathers but quite frankly, too many players have coasted at this club for far too long.

Sad isn't it. Give maureen: lamela, eriksen, capoue, soldado, paulinho for starters and I bet we'd be ashamed at what he'd manage to get out of them.

We really need LVG here in the summer imo. Too good an opportunity to miss.

Absolutely superb stuff from Mourinho, perfect game plan that made Man City look ordinary.

Suarez would be absolutely perfect for Mourinho, he has the work rate which is a prerequisite for Jose and obviously he's world class entering the peak of his career.

They would be devastating with Suarez up top. Mind boggling.

I know they had their hands burned with Torres...perhaps they'll send him back to the Dippers lol
