I'm not so sure. By the time we're in it (and even if that were tomorrow) all the new stadium will now give us is the ability to compete against the so called 'bigger' clubs and West Ham. Even Liverpool are now pushing at the 60k capacity door and they haven't had to build a completely new ground to get it. Newcastle have had a massive ground for ages and if they ever get their acts right there's another one knocking at the door.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying we won't be better off but it isn't outrageous to suggest we might not be. I ain't counting no chickens........Unless i'm making sure KFC haven't stiffed me in my 16 piece bucket that is......
I think the benefit that the stadium can/will bring hinges on the naming rights.
Increased weekly income will help, although I suspect gone are the days when ticket sales were effectively used to balance out player wages.
But a good naming rights deal and all the commercial benefits that could hang off that could give us significantly higher income than we have at the moment and allow us to compete financially with the traditional big boys.
Mind you, you suspect that Levy could be given the annual income of the OPEC countries combined and still try and insert a staged payments clause into a transfer.
