No, because he said it was the best summer transfer window we'd ever had.

Bit "spikey", calm down dear.

This is something we still won't know until a significanct amount of time has passed...not after 12 matches. If you're rating our transfer window based on the fact that we didn't qualify for the CL knockouts despite these players singing 5 year contracts then lol

Gotta love the amatuer psychology, next time I'll post a few smileys just to show how calm I am. :D <-- Is that better?

I'm obviously not rating our transfer window based on the CL exit since I gave the funny rating months ago when the OP was first made. You're reading quite a lot into a single funny rating and one reference to it. Not sure why you can't just let it go and be less bothered by it. I thought it was funny the OP said we'd had our best ever transfer window. I still think it's funny. That's all. Maybe be less bothered?

Best transfer window ever.
We've cleared out virtually all the players we don't need and have signed everything we do need.

Our absolute priorities were and ST and DM, we got the top scorer in Dutch league and a proven prem player and international captain in early (Janssen and Wanyama).

We then needed a 3rd goalie especially as Lloris is injured, a pacey winger and a direct strong pacey versatile attacking midfielder, we got all of those today (Lopez,NKoudu,Sissoko).

Yes Sissoko was overpriced but so was Mane,Stones, pogba was nearly £100million for goodness sake!!! I'd have been much more pissed off has we not got sissoko and he'd gone to Everton and done really well for them.

What the game against Liverpool showed was that we lacked a couple of pacey attacking players to really make them think, N'kodu and Sissoko are exactly that and from potch's post match comments they are exactly what he thought we needed and what he wanted.

Top top stuff. Levy gets enough shit from people but we now have a squad with 2 quality players in every position, a top young manager, the best training ground and development on what will be one of the best stadiums in Europe.

Perhaps we can dare to do now and start winning things again?

COYS.

I honestly think signing Sissoko will be the difference between us for example coming top4 and not and/or reaching at least CL quarters and or a cup final.
How fucking wrong was i!!!

Especially about Sissoko, really thought he'd offer much more.

He's played well but the team played better when Dier was pulling the strings and setting the tempo. Fact.

Putting " Fact" on the end of a sentence does not make it a Fact. Nobody thinks it does, and it looks so childish. Please stop doing that. .... Fact!

Thanks for bumping this, genuinely had a good laugh at how off so many were

I include myself in that - I didn't go so far as 'best window ever' (lol etc) but I was very much in the 'give Sissoko a break' camp at the time

No need for aggro, it's funny. There's no one on here who hasn't dropped a massive clanger at one time or other

There really are no guarantees in recruitment, particularly when you are not paying top dollar wages like us. Generally we looked to address the right areas of the team - some pace, another DM, and cover for Harry.

Who knows, football can change quickly, and we may look back on the window differently in a few months time.

To be fair I was quite excited at time of this thread being made too.

Ndokou excited me (and still does as the potential is there but maybe more for next season if given proper chance).

Janssen looked good and again could well come good but I'd like to see another striker in January (maybe Berhainio finally) to take a bit of pressure off him.

And Lopez has potential and even if doesn't work out McGee may be back next season - happy enough with either as third choice.

Sissoko I feel can also come good but a bit iffier than the ones above; I stand by my previous comments that people in this forum are way too harsh and judgemental on him as he's getting used to a new system, living in totally different part of country and had a shit pre-season. Plus his price tag puts additional pressure. Plus when our more established players e.g. Eriksen, Son and Alli (to lesser extent as still young and learning) them it's gonna have a knock-on effect to others.

Overreact much? I just don't see how we've improved our starting eleven from last season, how is that such an unbelievable opinion to have that it merits such a reaction from you?

I like both Wanyama and Sissoko as players but how are they better than the regular central midfield we had last season exactly? You're actually saying it yourself that our midfield was really fucking good last season. I'm the one who should WTF your post, not the other way around.

Have given you a belated Winner Rating.

Well Wanyama's been in our starting XI, so you were wrong.

Is our starting eleven better with him in it? So far this season our pressing has been worse bar 1 one game (Man City), our attacking movement and creativity has been completely absent. I don't see the improvement. I don't think Wanyama has been better than what Dier was last season at all.

I don't mind people disagreeing with me, just click the disagree button. But I don't think it's fair to neg-rep someone with d'oh, dislike and spam-ratings because the person has a different opinion to yours. Nothing in my posts warranted neg-repping, I just stated my opinion and got loads of shit for it. And I think this is becoming a general problem on this forum lately. It's slowly turning into COYS where any opinion that is not positive or differs from the general consensus is slated, ridiculed and neg-repped instead of discussed which I thought the forum was for in the first place.

Surely slating someone else's argument (respectively) is also discussion?

As long as the reply is in a respectful manner backed up by sound arguments, sure. Have no problem with that. Rating a post as WTF?!?! and posting a reply with a tone of sheer contempt which contains capital letter words with 5 exclamation marks is not that IMHO.

I could maybe understand it if I had stated it as fact and saying anyone who disagrees with me is an idiot, but I don't think my original post warranted the amount of neg-repping I received, nor the tone of some of the responses.

I would like to point out that you didn't actually get any neg reps, and some of the 'Doh's and WTFs were in response to saying that someone else's post should get WTFs (that suusally happens).

Ironically, my post in response to yours actually got negged by someone who agrees with you, so you just have to accept it.

Agreed.

I still think we cleaned the squad well just so far it looks like the ones we brought it may not have all be correct.

Some of us get too carried away based upon a few videos, or cameos. Get carried away with 'we only need three' and our youths are world class potential etc. Some even saying Edwards is ready to tear it up. With blinkered intoxicated views like this we have a long way to go.

The money spent on him and the trouble I have figuring out what he can bring to the table in terms of where he is a good fit for us as a unit worries me to the extent that it really makes me question whether the people in charge of our signings have a clear plan and actually know what they're doing

Too many signings since the bale money have been flops and moved on quickly and although we've made a couple of excellent signings like Toby, dier and dele there are too many areas we don't address while spending big money on players who either don't fit or just make no sense
