For those people knocking or do not appreciate Levy, if you had a choice and chance, which other current premier league Chairperson would you rather we have? Is there that Chairperson from another club you admire and wish they were ours? Serious questions.

As much we would all love Chelsea to do a Leeds (don't think I'd ever stop laughing), that sadly will not happen now. They have a big enough profile globally following the Abramovich era to attract an equally wealthy new owner.

In the days before the Abramovich takeover, they were quite literally teetering on the brink of bankruptcy and then they won the football lottery - the utter bastards.

Yep, and it's been a recurrent massive kick in the......

You might want to edit your post sharpish before A&C comes back. You've been around since 2012 so know all about circumnavigating the censor filter where the word **** is concerned is not liked round these here parts.

Done. Shame as it's my favourite word. Think it's a byproduct of being in London, where there appear to be more per head of population than anywhere else in the world.

Oh I love the word too. Some people are such ****s that only the word **** can accurately describe them.

But wouldn't want you to get in trouble here (y)

As a brand I agree with you, but if you factor in the £1bn owed to Roman and he decides he wants that back then the price is too high cubeb Chelsea right now isn't sustainable.

Best transfer window ever.
We've cleared out virtually all the players we don't need and have signed everything we do need.

Our absolute priorities were and ST and DM, we got the top scorer in Dutch league and a proven prem player and international captain in early (Janssen and Wanyama).

We then needed a 3rd goalie especially as Lloris is injured, a pacey winger and a direct strong pacey versatile attacking midfielder, we got all of those today (Lopez,NKoudu,Sissoko).

Yes Sissoko was overpriced but so was Mane,Stones, pogba was nearly £100million for goodness sake!!! I'd have been much more pissed off has we not got sissoko and he'd gone to Everton and done really well for them.

What the game against Liverpool showed was that we lacked a couple of pacey attacking players to really make them think, N'kodu and Sissoko are exactly that and from potch's post match comments they are exactly what he thought we needed and what he wanted.

Top top stuff. Levy gets enough shit from people but we now have a squad with 2 quality players in every position, a top young manager, the best training ground and development on what will be one of the best stadiums in Europe.

Perhaps we can dare to do now and start winning things again?

COYS.

I honestly think signing Sissoko will be the difference between us for example coming top4 and not and/or reaching at least CL quarters and or a cup final.

I love the optimism in this post :D

Finishing third with Sissoko playing as badly as he did...imagine how well we would have done if Sissoko was as good as lukespurs7 thought he was.

Have to say I’m normally the one of the most optimistic and pro Levy. But even I’m getting slightly worried. Everything is near on perfect CL for 3rd time. New stadium a team now with a World Cup winning captain and golden boot winner and a wealth of big game experience. Surely Levy must recognise this is the moment to make a real statement or even a partial statement. The profile of the club couldn’t be higher. And yet the doubters are lurking in the wings with their “ told ya spurs wouldn’t spend, new stadium, just like Arsenal .” Even if it means borrowing £100m off uncle joe surely now is the time. Even just 2 big names and maybe a younger signing would keep the positive vibe and momentum going. This feels much more like a strategic business decision as opposed to even a football decision. If Levy doesn’t come through all the great positive vibes could quickly evaporate. Come on Daniel recognise this is our moment.

Oil whore

Multiple PL title winning oil whore.

You're factoring that in like he has a legal entitlement to ask for it.
If FFP says clubs aren't allowed to be funded that way, he probably hasn't got a leg to stand on.

Totally agree. All the usual bullshit early in the window "we'll buy big" and "we can compete with the big boys" to ultimately being blown out of the window left right and center.

I have genuine concern that if it is true that Pochettino has requested we move big in the window, that if we go into the final week(s) without any significant incoming he'll walk.
Levy might hold the cards if a club makes an approach to Poch, but I suspect Poch is a decent enough man to walk away from a bad situation rather than act like a dick until he gets fired.

Have to agree, I was almost optimistic at the begining of the window after Poch's comments, but as usual we're dragging our heels as others improve their squads.

Zaha has suppoedly said he wants to leave this TW & if that's true Levy needs to show intent & go & get him, even if that means paying more than he wants to pay.

Just trying to make sense of Levy stance:

1. He genuinely wants to make us a proper big club. Which the training ground, stadium, Poch + kane suggest. - win for us

2. He’s fattening the club to sell - win for us

3. He’s fattened the club up to just get bye and skim an annual profit - L

4. He believes his own hype in terms of being the master negotiator and it’s all a bit of an ego thing to him.

1+2 are ultimately win win for us although might take some patience. 3 really makes no sense if he’s in it for the profit, then now selling is surely the option as opposed to faffing around for £50m profits annually. But definitely think there’s a large slice of 4 involved. For me 1+2 are the only realistic options and either way ultimately we win.

everyone is entitled to moan now and then, but I dont know why anyone would expect the SOP to change. Levy is 56 years old. This window is like all the others and we have done ok. I dont think he is squirreling extra cash away for his retirement - he doesnt need it. If the money is there he will invest it into the squad, and there will be extra money in the near future. I can be patient.
