Best transfer window ever.
We've cleared out virtually all the players we don't need and have signed everything we do need.

Our absolute priorities were and ST and DM, we got the top scorer in Dutch league and a proven prem player and international captain in early (Janssen and Wanyama).

We then needed a 3rd goalie especially as Lloris is injured, a pacey winger and a direct strong pacey versatile attacking midfielder, we got all of those today (Lopez,NKoudu,Sissoko).

Yes Sissoko was overpriced but so was Mane,Stones, pogba was nearly £100million for goodness sake!!! I'd have been much more pissed off has we not got sissoko and he'd gone to Everton and done really well for them.

What the game against Liverpool showed was that we lacked a couple of pacey attacking players to really make them think, N'kodu and Sissoko are exactly that and from potch's post match comments they are exactly what he thought we needed and what he wanted.

Top top stuff. Levy gets enough shit from people but we now have a squad with 2 quality players in every position, a top young manager, the best training ground and development on what will be one of the best stadiums in Europe.

Perhaps we can dare to do now and start winning things again?

COYS.

I honestly think signing Sissoko will be the difference between us for example coming top4 and not and/or reaching at least CL quarters and or a cup final.

I think its been a very good window overall - it could have been even better had we managed to convince Coric or Isco to come in as AM but it wasn't to be.

I'm happy and I'm very happy that Levy has completely backed his manager which is what we have been crying out for for many years.

I'm not sure I can bring myself to go quite as overboard as the OP so, for now, I think this best sums up how I feel...

30m for Sissoko is nuts but he can do the box-to-box job and can be play without the ball at his feet.
Just not sure if he is a better passer of the ball than Dier.

Probably not based on what Eric showed at the Euros, but Dembélé's not a great passer either.

A great window for us. Some lesser players moved on and the squad strengthened in key positions. Much more depth now too, just think that we could have a bench made up of the following players:
Son
Nkoudo
Wimmer
Sissoko
Jansen / Eriksen
Tripper
Davis

So much depth and add to that some very talented youth lads and we have good options to tackle all 4 competitions.

Certainly not the worst window but I don't really see how we've improved the starting eleven at this point. Hope I'm completely wrong of course.

I'll say it AGAIN!!! How could we have without signing a £50-100mil player I don't see how we can improve our first XI apart from in CM which we have done with Wanyama and Sissoko.

Lloris is world class
Back 4 was best defensive unit in the league last year, why change that,Toby is world class and Jan works well with him, 2 full backs barely had a bad game all year.
Dier last year was a revelation and Dembele was well Dembele, amazing. Eriksen Alli and Lamela were 3 of the top midfielders for goals and assists and worked really well as a 3 and Kane was the leagues top scorer so AGAIN where and how would you improve that first XI?

Honestly you can't please some people. We've also brought in 2cms who could easily start for us and one who can play RM, a pacey wide man to challenge the front 3 and the top scorer in the Dutch league to compete with Kane.

We've desperately needed pace in our team. We saw it last season and we've already seen it this one. We completely lose control of games, get pinned back and we're unable to change the dynamic of the game. Now with GK and Sissoko, teams will have to rethink how to play against us.

Dembele and sissoko both running at an opposition is exciting. Counter attack will be awesome.

It's a shame we don't play to the counter though. We're go from either trying to press high or dominate possession, without doing either that successfully. We don't often sit back, invite the opposition and then hit on the break.

I'm frankly stunned that Levy agreed the Sissoko deal and that , combined with our other 4 signings , have made this a really strong window and I will happily eat my hat. Despite the outgoing players that concerned me , we are now unquestionably stronger than we were at the start of the window.

As a big Levy critic I am ecstatic today so I will lay off him for a while, out of all the players we were linked to early on in the window Sissoko was the one I wanted, I think he'll be great for us, much more excited about the coming season, was fully expecting another frustrating window given the past (lost count) number of crap windows... well done for a change!

Overreact much? I just don't see how we've improved our starting eleven from last season, how is that such an unbelievable opinion to have that it merits such a reaction from you?

I like both Wanyama and Sissoko as players but how are they better than the regular central midfield we had last season exactly? You're actually saying it yourself that our midfield was really fucking good last season. I'm the one who should WTF your post, not the other way around.

Excellent OP, agree with every word.

The Sissoko signing was absolutely necessary and, oddly, seems disproportionately bigger than just one player, because it brings the squad into much better balance, in one fell swoop. Fwiw, I don't think we significantly overpaid for Sissoko. Few million bucks maybe, but for a (just) 27 year old, 44-capped French international in the post-TV deal new world, it's fine.

Well done Levy & team.

Our starting strongest 11 isn't the problem it was our options. We have definitely improved the squad and now have real pace in the overall squad Sissoko Son N'koudou Onomah Walker Rose.

Sissoko cost a lot of money maybe but in today's market Bolasie cost about the same whereas imo Sissoko is much more flexible
