Unfortunately it's impossible to disagree with that

How much of that is the failure to identify the correct attainable targets? how much of it is failure to get negotiations done when they could/should have been?

I feel that long before a window opens we should have a very clearly laid out plan - with our ins and outs in mind

A list of targets 1,2,3,4,5 for each position we go for with a very clear budget for each and as soon as the window opens we should swarm over our targets trying to get our business done before the likes of Chelsea get wind and swoop in

If we can't get the player for the budget we want we should move on to the next best thing.

Recent windows just leave me thinking the we are pissing in the wind a little, trying our luck and gambling while making errors. I don't want to point blame at anyone in particular as I am sure elements of blame rest at various parties but for the most part we are making and repeating too many mistakes and we need to sort it out sooner rather than later

Logically, since we have had this problem with pretty much every manager over the last decade then the only constant that has not changed is Levy.
Therefore, by process of elimination, one must deduce that this constant cock up of not being able to identify a solid list of say 1,2,3,4,5 players and go in with a well thought out plan tells me that each and every one of our managers is being Levy'd!
The first season Poch came in can also confirm the observation I have. His first players were already identified and since Poch was new and at the time well thought of Levy didn't want to rock the boat so early on into the new manager's tenure so he went along with all the Ins and Outs Poch wanted. And surprise surprise it was a successful transfer.

Now 2yrs in, Levy feels confident and comfortable enough to exert his ownership authority on Poch more and (in my opinion Poch has also become complacent) and as such he as unwittingly allowed Levy to meddle in the transfer of players more than he would have liked and allowed at the start of his managerial stink with us for example.
This has in turn meant that certain players coming in weren't the ideal candidates and quite possibly Poch didn't exert his authority on which players he wanted and/or needed (could this be the affect of Mitchell announcing his resignation maybe).
Ultimately a sensible list of players doesn't appear to have been identified or well thought out and now we are seeing holes in our transfer policy.

Mark my words, if we don't get the right players in (that Poch absolutely wants or needs) during the next 2 windows Poch will be gone not long after that. And you can sticky my post on that if you wish...

So with the January window fast approaching what can we see happening for the mighty Spurs?

Personally I would love to see Gerard Deulofeu join the ranks at Spurs and it seems Ronald Koeman wants to move him on...

I'm not convinced parting with a significant amount of cash for Barkley would be a great idea, as I cannot see which part of the puzzle he fits in...

Finally I would have loved to have seen Adama Traore at the lane - he looks like Sissoko but years younger to fine tune his ability...

I'm a big fan of Barkley but he hasn't been the same since that ankle injury a few seasons ago.

Not wishing to focus too much on the transfers in and out and player wages of yesteryear, I just wanted to relay my thoughts concerning our Mr Levy.

When I sit here looking at what could well be unfolding at Chelsea and the turmoil that could bring, the far superior squad we now have compared to Arsenal and the reported lack of transfer funds they have...I do so with a sense of admiration.

Whilst not always having money for elite players or wages, we as a club had a vision. A vision driven by Mr Levy which is now coming to fruition.

We're not just talking a new stadium, but being part of a regeneration project for the whole area. He really has worked his arse off.

In relation to the new stadium, it's allowed for player wages to hopefully line up closer to some of those bigger clubs we once aspired to be. That's right, those 'bigger' clubs, that one or two whom we finish above league wise with regularity in recent years.

You see, for all the disappointing times over the years, the crap from rival fans, and all the flak that has brought Mr Levy, I sit here with a calmness thinking that our time is almost here.

As others fade away we"ve become stronger, this is before we've even got busy with extra revenue from new stadium in relation to transfers.

As stated, it's took some time, but for all the crap directed his way at times...it only seems right to acknowledge all the good he has finally been able to deliver for the club.

Good on ya' Mr Levy.

There's also some very real doubts over future TV deals, with both BT and Sky having problems, so generating our own revenue will mean the club is safeguarded from a possible decrease.

People direct the crap at him because getting to the point we are nearly at took a lot of frugality and there were some backwards steps along the way. I've always been a levy fan but can understand the criticism he has taken. Poch and Levy seem like a good team and I hope they continue to build on that relationship. Fact is Poch is the most important person at the club right now and keeping him happy is the best thing Levy will achieve over the next 10 years.

Remember we played our last game at old WHL just over a year ago a YEAR. To bring us this stadium on the same site in the space on 1 year away is a stunning achievement from all concerned. I very much doubt many owners would have had the foresight determination and balls to see this through. Just look at chelsea. Look at Liverpool adding bits on to an aged stadium like something you’d make with cereal boxes on blue peter. Whatever has gone before or happens in the future. Levy has given us the opportunity to remain at the top table of English football for the next 100 years. People will scoff but he has transformed the club from top to bottom and in terms of a legacy it’s right up there with Bill Nic imo as a defining time in our history.

Best transfer window ever. We've cleared out virtually all the players we don't need and have signed everything we do need.

Our absolute priorities were and ST and DM, we got the top scorer in Dutch league and a proven prem player and international captain in early (Janssen and Wanyama).

We then needed a 3rd goalie especially as Lloris is injured, a pacey winger and a direct strong pacey versatile attacking midfielder, we got all of those today (Lopez,NKoudu,Sissoko).

Yes Sissoko was overpriced but so was Mane,Stones, pogba was nearly £100million for goodness sake!!! I'd have been much more pissed off has we not got sissoko and he'd gone to Everton and done really well for them.

What the game against Liverpool showed was that we lacked a couple of pacey attacking players to really make them think, N'kodu and Sissoko are exactly that and from potch's post match comments they are exactly what he thought we needed and what he wanted.

Top top stuff. Levy gets enough shit from people but we now have a squad with 2 quality players in every position, a top young manager, the best training ground and development on what will be one of the best stadiums in Europe.

Perhaps we can dare to do now and start winning things again?

COYS.

I honestly think signing Sissoko will be the difference between us for example coming top4 and not and/or reaching at least CL quarters and or a cup final.

OP has not aged well lol

Did you really just bump this thread from almost a year ago to have a wankfest over Levy while talking about Chelsea’s issues?
